Chapter 126 - EPISODE 126; THE ASCENT! THE SEAL OF IDENTITY PART XLIII: THE CHRONOLOGICAL/HOROLOGICAL BLOODLINE LIMIT! MONOCHRON PART VI: PERCEPTION OF TIME!

We listened to Prince as he continued his lecture on Time.

"Next, we'll deal with 'Perception Of Time'" Prince said.

We listened closely.

"Like I said before, every Living Being lives within a unique 'Time Zone' which is firstly determined by their geographical location on the Earth and secondly determined by their unique experiences stored within their Memories. Most people think of Time strictly in physiological terms however as incredible as it might sound, no two people have exactly the same 'Perception Of Time'" Prince explained.

"They don't?" Saito seemed surprised.

"They don't. There are aspects of Time that are universal. These aspects of Time mostly have to do with the physiological experience of Time and include Day and Night, Months and Years. But even with regards to these, the universality of these phenomena can be affected by geographical location as in the case of the alternations to the experience of Day and Night. The universality of Months and Years can also be affected by things such as Culture. Not every Culture follows the same Calendar" Prince explained.

"Then there are Seasons which are unique depending on one's geographical location on the Earth" Mitsuki added.

"Exactly. Most of the universal aspects of Time exist on a physiological level and even the universality of these phenomena can be affected by things such as Geography and Culture" Prince explained.

"I think I get it" Keiran seemed to reflect on his words.

"Then we have the Unique Experience Of Time which mostly exists at a Psychological Level. The Unique experience of Time is a mixture of physiological, cultural and social experiences accumulated and stored in one's Memory. The Universal and Unique experiences come together to create a unique 'Time Zone' for each individual and Living Being. It's as I explained earlier with regards to Time as an Element Of Significance. We all have unique Times and Seasons we personally cherish such as Birthdays and Social Events which are unique per Individual. All these shape the 'Perception Of Time' of each Individual so though on a physiological level, our experiences and perception of Time are vastly similar with slight variations, on a psychological level, our experience of Time vastly differs from one another's" Prince explained.

"In Dad's Training Manual regarding Jo-lan, it was actually the reverse" I whispered to Keiran.

"Yes, that is mostly because the entire culture of Jo-lan was a single culture. However, regardless of its universality, its clan members lived in different geographical locations. Thus they shared a single culture but lived in different locations. The culture became their 'Common History' and their unique experiences in their various locations became their 'Unique History'" Saito explained to us.

"Perception Of Time is not static but continuously evolving and can be affected by Three Major Factors" Prince said.

We listened closely.

"The first factor is Growth or Size. This is visible in the fact that if two or more Living Beings of different size attempted to journey to the same location while possessing an equivalent level of Physical Strength, the larger body is more likely to reach the destination first. Precisely because the larger body is likely to reach the destination first, it has a speedy perception of Time with regards to reaching the same location. The smaller body on the other hand would possess a lengthy perception of Time in relation to the larger body and its distance to the destination. Simply put, what a larger body can do in an instant would take a smaller body a lengthier period of Time to accomplish even at the same speed. Having said this, the second factor that can alter Perception Of Time is Speed. Using a similar scenario, if two racers of similar build were to race towards the same destination, the one with greater speed or stride would have a minute perception of time with regards to the distance between the point his journey began and the destination in contrast to the one with less speed and stride who would have a lengthier perception of Time. The faster one is, the slower everything else in their immediate surroundings appear to be" Prince explained.

"So that's what Mitsuki did during the Three Hour Nightmare Rampage" I realized.

"Exactly right" Mitsuki said.

"This brings me to the Final Factor that can affect the Perception Of Time. The third and final factor is Knowledge" Prince said.

"Knowledge? How?" Ciella asked.

"The more experiences a person acquires, the vaster their 'Time Zone' becomes. A person who acquires additional knowledge of the past outside their personal knowledge of the past has 'Range' in terms of experience. This 'Range' with regards to experience can allow them to detect when an event that has already occurred in the past is beginning to repeat itself in the present and precisely because they possess knowledge regarding the outcome of past events, they can accurately predict the outcome of the present event. The accuracy of this prediction increases with regards to similarities between past and present events. It diminishes in accuracy with each variation between past and present events. Simply put, for the more experienced, the past and present actually 'converge' within their 'Time Zone' granting them the ability to accurately predict the Future" Prince explained.

"I see. Cause and Effect huh?" I thought to myself.

"Exactly" Prince said.
