"To nurture a Sigil in a sense is to nurture oneself. The Sigil grows with the Dream Knight and expands in capability as the Dream Knight's knowledge of their own identity deepens. Just as our knowledge of our own identities can be shaped also by the perceptions of others with regards to ourselves and how we interact with them, a Sigil's capabilities can also expand as the Dream Knight encounters other people and these encounters leave an impression. The reverse is also true. Encounters can also cause a Sigil to decay so it's very important to constantly nurture a Sigil positively towards achieving the 'Living Sigil State' you wish for it to attain" my Mom explained.
"How can I do this when I don't even have a Sigil yet?" Ciella asked worriedly.
"You do have a Sigil. The moment your awareness of the Dream World and all its associated Symbols awakened within you, your Sigil also awakened however…it is yet to manifest itself and is thus currently invisible to you" my Mom explained to Ciella.
"What of San?" Ariel asked.
"San's Cape…is a Sigil" my Mom said seriously.
"WHAT?! SERIOUSLY?! Aren't Sigils usually composed of Armour and a Weapon?!" Saito was surprised as well.
"That's usually the case. In the past, my Pyrogeysers also used to manifest as Armour and a Weapon however, the Armour would transform into lighter clothing and a headband whilst the Weapon would split in two whenever I upgraded it. In a sense, even though the Armour became lighter…its defense didn't diminish but was converted into the enhanced offensive power of the upgraded form. That connoted the priority I subconsciously assigned to offensive and defensive power" my Mom explained.
"I see, so the form a Sigil takes on can connote the priority the Dream Knight subconsciously assigns to a particular ability?" Saito asked.
"Yeah, I prioritize Brute Strength so my Tomahawks carry a lot of weight when they appear. Victoria prioritizes Precision so her Sigil developed along an Archery Style. Ayumi prioritizes Speed and Offensive Power so her Pyrogeysers take on the form of Twin Scimitars, Aileen prioritizes Knowledge so her Atlas takes on the form of an Information Analysis and Statistical Device, Zan prioritizes Justice thus the Nightbane, his fundamental Sigil can only harm evil beings. Zan and Ayumi are also Dreamweavers whose ultimate ability lie in Creativity thus the Pyrostellis Luminares is highly adaptable and can take on a variety of forms. Do you understand? The priority a Dream Knight assigns to a particular ideal to a large extent determines the Physical Form the Sigil will take on" Face explained.
"I see" Ciella realized what he was getting at.
"So Saito utilizes Flame because she prioritizes Fortitude and Ariel utilizes Blaze because she prioritizes Healing right?" Ciella asked.
"You get it. To put it in simple terms, every Dream Knight's Sigil sort of attends the School which teaches subjects the Dream Knight is interested in" Victoria said with a laugh.
"So what do we do now?" I asked.
"For now, we, the older Dream Knights will set up a special lesson to teach you how to nurture a Sigil appropriately" Face said with a laugh.
"By special lesson you don't mean…Farming do you Dad?" Concordia asked suspiciously.
"Of course I mean Farming. What better way to learn how to nurture Life than caring for Life itself?" Face said with a laugh.
Concordia sighed in exasperation.
"Thought so" she said.
"Looks like you had a really tough time growing up didn't you Concordia?" I teased.
"Don't even start with me" Concordia said as she shot me a warning glare.
"However…do not underestimate this trial for you will be farming…under Special Conditions" Face said with a laugh.
"Special Conditions?" Keiran asked.
"By that he means Debilitating Atmospheres" Concordia sighed even deeper in exasperation.
Keiran laughed at her.
"Yup…someone definitely had a tough time growing up" he also teased.
