We climbed the stairs and arrived on a higher level of the Mountain. On the Second Level, there were lighted torches each bearing one of the three Flames, Of Vitality, Of Fortitude and Of Purification. This level was slightly brighter than the previous one and had a strong wind blowing all about it.
A door materialized in front of us. On this door was the image of a lady with a Bow and Arrow in her hands pulled to full length. Above her was an emerald that glowed brilliantly and behind her was the image of a strong wind. Across the door where her arrow was aimed was another image of what looked like a harpy with great metallic fans in her hands. Around the image of the harpy were ominous looking winds.
"This must be Mom and her Bow Of Orion" Concordia realized and placed a hand on the image on the door.
"Then that must be Enslavement and her Winds Of Adversity on the other side of the door" I realized.
"So the image of your Mom must represent the Pendragon House Of Dream Knights. Then the next field must be a Field Of Wind. In that case, this door must lead to a Dream Knight who has mastered an Aerial Bloodline Limit" Saito pointed out.
"In that case, it would be best if Arlene, Ciella and Concordia go this time. Arlene has an affinity for Wind. Her sigil Christopher is proof of this" Keiran suggested.
"The next field might be Debilitating to the rest of you" Concordia said with concern.
Keiran shook his head with a reassuring smile.
"Most of us acquired a Fiery Bloodline Limit in the previous level. A natural advantage of a Fiery Bloodline Limit is the ability to dispel the Debilitating Effects Of Darkness via the Fires Of Vitality, the Flames Of Fortitude and the Blaze Of Purification. You don't need to worry about us. Just focus on acquiring your Bloodline Limit" Keiran reassured Concordia.
Concordia, Ciella and Arlene stepped in through the door. When they were at the other side of the door, they found a Hall similar to the previous one. Within it, they were met by Victoria Pendragon Kenyah and Aileen Arlene Atlas Sabrefang I.
"Grandma?" Arlene stared at her grandmother in surprise.
"Mom?" Concordia stared at her mother.
"Bet you didn't expect to meet two Dream Knights in here did you Arlene, Concordia, Ciella?" Aileen I said to the girls.
Concordia, Arlene and Ciella shook their heads in surprise.
"That's because Wind has a very wide variety of applications. We've categorized these applications under Combative and Support. Those who are Combative Types will train under Victoria. Support Types will learn from me" Aileen I said.
"Can't we just learn both?" Concordia asked.
"It is impractical for a single person to attempt to do everything on the battlefield. The battlefield is not static but continuously evolving. Attempting to fight on the battlefield while offering support through coordination will lead to divided attention which will result in the maximization of casualties. That's why Combative Types offer support by ensuring the enemy does not break through the battle line and Support Types offer support to Combative Types in forms of Healing and Coordination. Could you imagine what would happen if a Healer had to fight on the frontlines?" Aileen I asked.
"There'd be no one to heal the injured once the Healer is lost" Concordia realized.
"True, and losing a coordinator would lead all allies into an enemy's trap. Support Types thus act as the 'Senses' of the party" Victoria said.
"Why did San's Dad then say that even those the Field Of Fire was hostile to had to be on the battlefield?" Concordia asked.
Victoria laughed at this.
"It's simple really. How do the leaders of a country know whether or not their citizens are happy with their policies or not?" Victoria asked.
"Through Opinion Polls?" Concordia realized.
"Exactly, what's the point of making decisions that do not benefit anyone? It's why Zan said the weakest member of your party must become the measure of your party's strength. It's also why he said that's how you forge a chain without a weak link. If you fought the Weaver Of Calamity's Influence without the participation of those that influence was Debilitating to, how would you measure whether the Field was becoming hospitable or hostile to them? Plus you were wise enough to ensure that those the field was hostile to stayed in Zan's Energy Zone. If your Medical Camp was behind enemy lines, your healers would be decimated and your party annihilated. If the Medical Camp was too far from the battlefield, most of the injured would die before getting Medical Help. Thus your Healers must be on the battlefield but away from the frontlines. That is the logic behind Zan's words" Aileen I explained.
Concordia, Arlene and Ciella looked surprised yet impressed.
"I can rest easy now" Concordia sighed in relief.
