Aileen I led Arlene and Ciella to the entrance of a Labyrinth.
"I will head to the centre of the Labyrinth. You are to wait for five minutes and then attempt to find me. To do this, you two are going to have to figure out a way to navigate via Aerial Breath and Sound" Aileen I said.
"We're playing Hide and Seek Granny?" Arlene looked surprised.
"Such games are the basis of survival skills necessary to survive as a Dream Knight" Aileen I said with a smirk and disappeared into the Maze.
Ciella and Arlene waited for five minutes and then stepped into the Maze. Within the Maze was thick Mist clouding their perception. Visibility was thus very poor.
"Mist?" Arlene stared around in surprise.
"San said it was a variation of Wind Techniques that could be applied for the purposes of Stealth" Ciella said.
"I see, so that's what you meant Granny" Arlene realized.
"What do you mean?" Ciella asked.
"My Granny said games like Hide and Seek are the basis of Skills needed to survive as a Dream Knight. We often play these games without thinking deeply about their applications but if you reflect on it…Hide and Seek is all about locating people that are Hidden or simply put…finding the Invisible. It's the basis of Tracking Skills" Arlene said.
"So we're supposed to be tracking your Granny?" Ciella asked.
"Exactly. Let's start by searching for footprints" Arlene said.
"Okay" Arlene and Ciella said and followed the trail created by the Maze.
They came to a fork in the road and found footprints leading to the right.
"There, we found her trail" Arlene said and the girls doubled their pace.
"Wouldn't it be reckless to follow these prints blindly? If we get lost in the Maze, we'll have no way of locating the Entrance" Ciella pointed out.
"That's true. However, we have my sigil Christopher which maps out locations I have been to previously. Even if there are anomalies or alterations to the Maze, we have a reference mapping our trail to the Entrance" Arlene explained.
"In other words, what we should really be concerned about is the path ahead of us huh?" Ciella realized.
"Exactly" Arlene said.
The two girls arrived at a crossroad. There, the footprints split apart and headed in all directions.
"Wh-What's this?!" Ciella stared at the trail in surprise.
"Tracking an adversary is only effective for as long as the adversary is unaware that they are being tracked. In situations like that, one can plan an ambush. However, once the adversary becomes aware that they are being tracked, they begin to set up measures to distort the senses of the tracker" Arlene explained.
Deeper into the Maze, Aileen I observed Ciella and Arlene's progress via her sigil, Atlas.
"Your observation is right Arlene…however you still overly rely on your eyes. The Forests Of Frights and Confusion that existed in the Dream World at the time Zanböngfar's influence was predominant completely distorted one's senses particularly the sense of sight. If one began to panic while lost in that forest, they'd be hunted by Bloodhounds that possess the ability to sense fear via the heartbeat rate of a person. There are no Bloodhounds here in this Maze however for as long as you can't make it through this Maze, you're not ready to confront Zanböngfar yet" Aileen I said seriously.
"It appears my Granny made multiple tracks to throw us off her trail. It wouldn't be wise to attempt to follow all the tracks. If we get lost in the Maze, we'll lose a lot of time. In actual missions, that could lead to a fatality" Arlene said.
"So what do we do now?" Ciella asked.
Arlene generated a mini-representation of Christopher and handed it to Ciella.
"Think you could fly up and try to get a bird's-eye view of this location? As long as that representation of Christopher is with you, any trail you view will be used to generate a map of this location" Arlene said.
"I'll try" Ciella said and accessed our Peristylium's list of Bloodline Limits.
She equipped her flight suit and flew into the air. She looked all around but the thick mist had shrouded everything.
She descended to her previous location.
"How was it?" Arlene asked.
Ciella shook her head.
"The thick mist has shrouded everything. I can't see anything" Ciella admitted.
