Chapter 65 - EPISODE 65; THE THIRD SESSION! THE ROOTS OF CIVILIZATION! THE TWELVE NOBLE PROFESSIONS PART X: BRIDGE BUILDING PART VII: CARTOGRAPHY VIA ENERGY PART II: LIGHTWAVES

Keiran spent days trying to figure out how to bypass their Peristylium's current limitation which was translating the Energy Conversion Skill into the development of Technology. By converting the Skill into a Technological Tool, other members of the Peristylium as well as Concordia and himself could conserve MP.

"You know, why don't we begin by studying the properties of Light?" Concordia asked.

Keiran opened his eyes in surprise.

"Concordia, you're a genius!" he suddenly exclaimed.

"I know I am" Concordia laughed.

"We should study the principles behind sight and how the eyes work" Keiran said.

"That's what I mean. By studying principles associated with Focus and Image Conversion or Translation as well as Transmission and Storage, we should be able to develop image capture, transmission and storage devices" Concordia explained.

"Then I guess it's time for some review. Regarding focus, this is achieved through the Iris' ability to narrow or widen itself to allow beams of light into the retina. The narrower the focus is, the sharper the image appears to be. On the other hand, when the focus is wide, the image appears to be blurred" Keiran explained.

"Plus every object has its own unique shade of colour. To completely perceive the image flowing into the device, we'd have to first diffract the Light flowing into the device into Multiple Spectrums and then conduct these Spectrums into Specific Colour Filters. Depending on the Shade Of Colour possessed by Specific Objects, varied Combinations Of Filters would be employed to generate an accurate Graphical Representation of the Object and then the Image Of The Object can be Reconstructed through an Assembly and Alignment of the various Shades Of Colour diffracted by the Light flowing from the object. By assigning percentages to the Colour Filters in correspondence to the percentage of diffracted light that hits specific filters, we should be able to reconstruct a very accurate graphical representation of the image" Keiran explained.

"Fortunately, Light Rays flow in a linear path unless reflected, refracted or diffracted" Concordia added.

From then on, Keiran and Concordia assigned a twelfth of the Population, especially those that had previously prioritized Knowledge and Logic (The Gemini Job System) through the Recreational Registers to the development of image capture, transmission, conversion and storage devices. The Major Parameters Keiran employed were Focus, Diffraction, Colour, Filters, Calculators for determining specific percentages of Light Spectrums flowing into the device, Alignment Of Colour to specific parts of the object from which that Spectrum of Light was diffracted and Reconstruction through the Alignment Of Colour and mapping to the Shape and Form of the captured Image of the Object.

Focus determined how wide the beam of Light was that entered the device. By adjusting focus, the image could be made sharper or blurred. Diffraction through special lenses split the beam of Light into multiple Spectrums. Each Spectrum would then be redirected into filters containing colours that matched the said Spectrum. There was a filter for each colour. These filters also contained Calculators that measured the percentage of a specific Wavelength Of Light against all the other diffracted Wavelengths.

Finally, by mapping each colour to the original image which was stored, the image could be reconstructed through the measurement of the percentage of a particular Spectrum or Wavelength emanating from specific parts of the object. That was how the Reconstruction Functionality worked. After roughly a month with relation to the Game's Time, prototypes were ready for testing. They produced rather accurate graphical representations of the Object.

The capture devices were integrated with principles of flotation and were anchored all around Keiran and Concordia's Sky Islands in a very rigid manner. The images they captured would then be beamed back to the Island via very focused beams of Light where they'd be received via devices that would diffract the Light into multiple Spectrums, conduct it through specific filters and then reconstruct the image by mapping diffracted spectrums to the percentage of that specific spectrum of Light emanating from the object. The visual representation of the reconstructed image would then be projected to Omnidirectional Screens in the Island's Bridge where Keiran, Concordia and their crew could monitor the Skies and thus navigate through them while avoiding potential obstacles in their path. It was the Omnidirectional Mirrors that were converted to Omnidirectional Screens, each displaying input that flowed from Image Capture Devices in a specific location. Thanks to this new invention, Keiran's crew could conserve MP as well.

Now Keiran and Concordia's crew had a stable supply of Water for their Sky Islands, a Stable Supply Of Food, as well as Navigation Devices and Lighthouses. The final functionality they added to their devices especially those stored beneath the Sky Islands were magnification devices that magnified the size of the Images captured on the Ground or Sea for a better view of the surroundings below them. Now they could really sail for an unprecedented amount of time.
