Lake maintained his composure as he heard Melissa's answer, but he couldn't help feeling somewhat puzzled.
After some thought, he asked the question that had been plaguing his mind for years. "Who are my parents?"
Melissa felt her heart sink as she sighed.
"First, I'll tell you about your mother, Nora Lockhart," Melissa spoke softly.
"Nora... Lockhart?" Lake repeated. The name was both foreign and unfamiliar to him, yet he pondered deeply over it.
Kate, on the other hand, frowned. The name sounded familiar, but she had no recollection of her parents ever mentioning it.
"Nora was a friend I grew up with a long time ago and later fought side by side with during The Great Disaster. It was in these battles that I met Arthur and eventually fell in love."
Arthur, sitting beside Melissa, nodded as if recalling the past.
"So my mother was a hunter?" Lake asked, a frown forming on his face.
