*BOOM*
With a beautiful orange light flashing inside a strong and restless blizzard, a loud boom followed by a sudden spike of heat created something else aside from snow and ice in that area.
"It sure is a pain, huh." Hai muttered to himself while looking at the aura in the shape of a phoenix that tried everything to push the blizzard away but was clearly failing miserably.
'At this pace, I should be able to maintain this for at most 1 minute…' He did a quick calculation in his head and concluded that this probably wasn't enough time for Kryn to finish whatever she was doing.
Circulating his mana inside his body and with a pale blue mist coating his body, Hai once again controlled the blizzard and threw it back at the phoenix.
[*DING*]
[Your skill: [Will Manifestation] has ranked up.]
[Will Manifestation (C+) à (B)]
*SCREECH*
With a loud screech, the phoenix increased its aura's output and managed to avoid being frozen by the magic.
Watching it with calm, shining eyes, Hai closed one eye before opening it again. He was starting to get tired of this situation and that damn bird wasn't helping.
What he is doing right now is something that he thought while observing Kryn earlier. By having her mana circulate inside her mana veins and then stimulate it, Kryn's mana started to affect the surroundings without even needing to be cast as magic.
Right now, he is doing something similar to it, by forcing himself to become something akin to a nucleus of an ice phenomenon. This means that he is forcing his core, "ice star" and mana veins to a great degree to influence the surroundings, thus causing not only the drop in temperature but also the blizzard.
If one were to look inside his mana veins, they would see something akin to a pale blue cold energy circulating and even some smoke seemingly leaking out of the veins.
However, this "form" is highly detrimental to his body.
Although a mage's body gets strengthened by mana, this is more of a consequence than the real effect of mana, hence, even though a mage gets physically stronger and resistant, it still falls short of a martial artist's, for example.
And Hai's current form is something that should have killed him, had it not been for his great resistance, both physical and mental, and his will.
This form basically transforms him into something closer to ice or icy energy. His insides have been completely frozen and even his blood isn't circulating.
He basically is in a pseudo-dead state and the only reason that he can still think and keep himself from losing consciousness is due to his skill [Mind (X)].
However, even if this works in reality, Hai can only do it for so long, he probably can do it for a minute if he pushes himself.
Seeing that the phoenix had once again pushed the blizzard away, with a hint of boredom present in his cold eyes, he drove the storm back to the bird again.
As much as this is a boring thing to do, this is the best and easiest way of keeping that flame bird from doing anything extreme while also not forcing himself too much.
As he kept doing it, Hai soon noticed a difference in the flame aura that formed the phoenix's shape.
It started as a slight tremble, but as the seconds ticked, it went from a slight one to a perceptible tremble from time to time.
Outside of the dome, the girls got startled when they heard his words, mainly the second half of them.
Elena who has been looking in the direction the golden light from a while ago came, suddenly grabbed Jia's shoulder in a grip that the poor pink-haired woman felt her shoulder crying for help.
"Take me there." She spat with her eyes losing some of their light.
Jia forced herself to not yelp in fright from seeing Elena's expression and nodded.
Controlling her mana, she made a portal and Elena instantly jumped in.
Then, before she entered the portal herself, Jia noticed a small device vibrating in her pocket.
She took it and pressed a button that projected a hologram of Chang Hua.
"Jia, come pick me and the girls up and take us there." Chang Hua said and cut the call.
"…" Jia, without understanding anything about what was happening, felt a headache but made another portal and hopped on.

Meanwhile, outside the dome, Elena observed the giant structure that stretched for who-knows-how-long, the thing must have at least a few dozen of kilometers.
*BOOM*
With a loud boom, Elena raised her eyes and watched a pillar of golden flames bore through the dome and rose toward the sky.
Narrowing her eyes, she contemplated if there was something she could help her young master with, but ultimately, she found nothing.
"…" Clenching her hands and gritting her teeth, she resisted the urge of cussing herself and started to think again if there was something she could do.
If there wasn't, she would think about it again, but from another angle. And if even this still didn't work, she would try it again no matter how many times it would take.
Circulating her mana, Elena did the only thing that could remotely offer some form of help to her young master.
Controlling a large chunk of purple mist, she made an even bigger dome around Hai's with the only function being that of obstructing the vision.
"Elena, what happened?" A charming voice inquired out of blue.
Looking to the side, Elena saw Chang Hua, Hong Li-Wei, Stella, Bing Qing, and lastly, Jia who just stepped out of the portal.
Silently contemplating her options, she chose her words before speaking.
"I don't know. Young master seems to be dealing with something that has to do with Kryn, but I don't know the details." She chose to explain it plainly since she noticed in the last few days from their reactions that almost everyone could hear Hai's thoughts.
Chang Hua picked up the message and nodded.
"What can we do?" She questioned while looking at the bigger, purplish dome covering the area.
*BOOOM*
With another explosion, this time one which shook the ground, the girls' attention was brought back to the area where Hai was.
*BOOM*
Noticing that things weren't looking good, the girls looked between themselves and nodded.
Jia swiftly used her magic to add a spatial barrier around the dome.
Although it was a simple one, it should help in reducing the strength and impact of whatever comes out.
Chang Hua also followed suit and, manipulating her aura made a whitish but thicker barrier engulfing the entire dome where Hai was.
Bing Qing and Stella resorted to just keeping an eye open to their surroundings, as they weren't at a level where their magic would be of help, so they just kept making sure that no one was close by.
Hong Li-Wei on the other hand swiftly took out a small pen drive-like device which she put on an armguard on her left arm.
Her bunny ears perked up a few times and her pink eyes glowed before like magic, she started seeing screens floating midair.
She was accessing the Nexus Net and making sure that there were no cameras or something of the like recording them, or even if there was someone coming here.
The girls' efficiency was certainly one of the highest order as they did everything without a word and in less than 5 seconds.
Hai would have applauded such teamwork had he seen it.
*BOOM*
Back in the dome, Hai deactivated his technique/ form from before and he instantly felt a slight headache.
'Hum… The output is acceptable, however…' He vanished from where he was and appeared meters away from where now was a crater of golden flames.
'The stability and control are a problem.' He kept thinking about the points to work on regarding that technique while carefully looking at the phoenix and Kryn, using his magical eyes.
As far as he has seen until now, the phoenix doesn't seem to have any ill will toward Kryn as he had left some openings that it could have used to do something, but it didn't.
So, apart from wanting to tear him to pieces, the phoenix and Kryn's situation seems to be still manageable.
"DIE!" Jumping up, Hai made an ice platform midair and kicked himself away not only avoiding the sea of flames thrown from below, but also the bombardment sent toward him midair.
Rotating himself, he did a somersault and landed on the ground while making a small ice floor which he landed on and slid back, avoiding yet another attack.
"…" Silently looking at Kryn, Hai noticed that the inner turmoil that was her rampart mana has calmed down to some extent.
She seems to be making steady progress in controlling it as indicated by the frequent tremble on that thing's form.
As the phoenix noticed that the human was too nimble for it to catch him, it changed its approach.
Ripping some pieces of the aura composing its body, the phoenix separated it into small balls that started to glow.
'It's pretty smart for a manifestation.' Hai thought as hundreds of metal cubes sprung from the ground all around and blocked the phoenix's view of him.
"Hiding?" It taunted but obtained no response.
The phoenix tried to locate Hai but it got briefly surprised when it noticed that he vanished without a trace.
"Well, no matter." Right after, the balls of fire started to rain down in random directions, one by one.
*BOOM*
And when one touched the ground, it exploded, completely wiping out the cubes.
*BOOM*
*BOOM*
*BOOM*
*BOOM*
*BOOM*
*BOOM*
As the flames spread further, the snow and ice on the ground melted and the cubes made of metal disappeared into puddles of melted metallic liquid, the dome shook and the temperature rose again.
However, the phoenix was still unable to find him even after all of her efforts.
With no other choice, the phoenix launched its last fire balls and waited for the result.
Hai meanwhile was upside-down, quietly crouching down on the highest point of the dome's ceiling, at the blind spot of the phoenix, just observing its actions.
'I was right, it doesn't have much energy left. This battle might become one of attrition.' He noted while observing that the bird had started to be more mindful of its energy usage.
Looking at Kryn again, Hai saw that her progress had slowed down and the phoenix's figure stopped trembling with as much frequency as it was.
The phoenix suddenly snapped its head in his direction.
"Well, should I worry?" He wryly smiled and jumped away just in time to not be burned to a crisp.
