The bus finally makes a stop at the bus station. The large black tyres slap the soaking road very briefly and already everyone is at the edge of their seats. They all rise up to form a small queue inside the bus, for everyone to have chances of walking out faster. By the look of weather it is very cool and a bit wet at this other side of the area, it's usually the time slot where everyone rushes to their daily life routine, they are rushing to their jobs, of working in some construction, nurses taking shifts, chefs who end up in unfortunate situations or early visitations.
They can smell the Wetness of spring that is dominating with mixed signals of cold and ounce of the sun this season. Among these days, nobody wakes up and is sure what kind of weather will it be for the town?
The two doors have already automatically opened for everyone for the last two minutes, only few people are only left now on the bus and Adele hasn't moved for one bit. Her eyes have remained still, staring at the bus window shields for more than fifteen minutes and she definitely looks like a zombie right now. Luckily something tells her to quit staring at the cars that are rushing their wheels and hitting the wet spots on the road. Any sound at this moment is inaudible to her ears, she hears no sound, it's more like she's deaf and by the looks of things, she has no interest in hearing anything. But when her hearing slowly comes back, suddenly those wet spots on the road sounds like showers, being slapped now and then by the car wheels.
Her face immediately awakens when she picks up. Other varsity students who chose to use this transport just because their homes are nearby and they see no reasons to live inside the varsity residents. Well those was one of her reasons she chose this way, and she assumes it's the same to them. Probably they have other things to do or cannot stay away from home like her. Adele quickly rises from her seat, drawing her two books closer to her chest and holds on to the arm of her bag pack tighter. Adele runs inside the bus, rushing to the doors while they were still opened and fortunately she lands her feet on the concrete pavement.
Crazily she runs passed her transport, her big flip flops, slapping underneath her feet, she delays to no time to step away from the pavement as soon as the bus, unblocks her view from seeing her massive varsity that looks like the states parliament, her eyes quickly scans the crowd of students, pursuing their destination to the varsity entrance. She has no time to waste but to commit herself into searching if she sees her friend showing among the moving crowd and decides to rather fast walk this time about to cross the road, to not draw any attention.
Faith is busy chatting with the group of multi racial students, she's even laughing with them, while they're on their way to their class, they are having a very serious debate about casual topics "Okay, okay, I agree everybody deserves a second chance, it's the same as recitating a patient who you won't watch dying, until you give it another try"
"You go, girl! You got some wise genes going on" Chequane declares this, impressed.
"I can bet with my twenty bucks that Adele is giving her that kick," Samantha utters this smiling.
"Oh yeah? That girl used to sway in class like it nobody's business but until she slacks, she's always banging her phone bro" Lesley, her biggest enemy in medicine adds this with a hilarious, laughter while he seals a handshake with one of his close buddies. His friend laughs so much, he finds the news his hearing to buddy so exciting, this year's last semester is over, so it was obvious what it means.
"Stop lying Les" Faith defends her.
"Isn't she the one who got her first year cancelled? just because she was too smart for the freshments and joined us?" Jake asks, and almost all the male students started laughing, they do those handshakes all over again, Lesley cannot hide his celebration to this one. Except for Maison who's among the moving group, that started off debating about casual topics and now they are painting Adele's reputation very red and he isn't very comfortable about this. Maison is a brother to one of Adele's friend, he's got some serious crush on Adele ever since High school but his is way to shy to come forth about his feelings. Lesley bets an eye passed Maison, and notices him being so reserved about the joke, he initiate another handshake to another male student, his arm going passed Maison 's face, he decides acting so ignorant about it.
And just when all that, was still going on, Samantha picks something at the corner of her eye and sees someone just afar that might resemble Adele's hair and face features, regarding her body part and a dressing style she is very not sure.
"What the..." Samantha's facial expression changes into weird, mixed signals she's ultimately very confused at this point. Unfortunately one of the guy's in the group, falls into the same fate, of discovering Adele fast walking outside the school yard, from the distance. "Speak of the devil guys, speak of the devil" everyone starts to turn around, even Faith is striked when noticing the whole group, gazing at the east direction. Her dark, masculine eyebrows that are perfectly shaved and trimmed above her eyes, crinkles. She is also looking outside the school yard now, she's witnessing Adele dressed in her granny pijamas, fast walking to cross the road. She tries to zoom her sight if it really is her and Adele suddenly runs not caring about the cars, her big pijamas is exploding like a parachute, wrapped from her lowered waist and the wind keeps filling inside her pants, beating around her skinny legs, left right and centre. Even the girls now are giggling, they are looking at Adele like a figure that is dressed in plastic bag, that is cooped in a massive air and it dictates her however.
Faith halts her feet, staying behind as the group of students continues to head forth, launching to their class. Maison, has no other choice but to do the same, although his presence lurks a little behind, his green hooded eyes, takes another intent gaze at Adele that will last him enough today and climb the concrete stairs that leads to the doorway, walking away with others.
Adele is so pleased to see Faith, it's a perfect coincidence for her, to spot her outside the building, with some group of students that she's familiar with. "Oh my God, Faith... I thought... I thought you won't see me" Adele utters this, literally bowing with her waist down to lean on her knees, atleast Faith is looking at a combed hair, that she couldn't stop scanning in her hallowed head in front of her. The unsettling part is that it is not even properly lotioned, let alone her baggy, unauthorised pijama pants that she's showing up with for the entire school to see. Was Adele trying to prove to Lesley that's she's really slacking and not alright?
"What the heck, Adele?" Faith asks,
"Faith we need to talk" As soon as Adele declares this, she quickly rises up and walks leading Faith away, from the crowded area and locates her to atleast be at the quiet spot and that was standing on the short grass at the school front yard that curves around the parking lot for students and teachers.
"I mean, what the heck Adele? What are you wearing? And you know you ain't supposed to be here, right?
"What do you mean, I'm not supposed to be here? I'm trying to tell you something here, and you're also playing a fashion coach? " Quickly Adele ditches her bag on the ground and starts short pacing in front of Faith and there goes Faith, widening her eyes in utter shock, it is dawning to her that her friend might be losing her mind about the announcement that just broke out this weekend. This might be it, Adele has never been this irrational, she's not this disorganised, cluttered mess she's seeing right now. She wonders why else will she be looking like, she slept at the cemetery?
"Okay last night...."
Just when Adele is about to finally open about the current situation that is eating her up, Faith's interrupts her, she feels responsible to warn her that today, it wasn't any like other days, she's assuming that Adele is aware of this and she's very surprised to see her present. "Please Faith, just listen to me for two minutes, will you?" Adele cuts her off before she finishes explaining and Faith is defeated as she quickly slumps down her shoulders, folding her arms to give her entire focus to Adele.
And After preparing herself to construct the right words, even wiping heavy sweats from her forehead, Adele does nothing but confesses straight ahead to everything that has happened, from start to finish, explaining herself in every finest detail, of what happened for the entire weekend. The way she is placing her arms on top of her head, short pacing on front of her friend, all that Faith is doing is keeping her gazes glued to her friend, following her in each time, she takes a turn, in that minimum of twenty seconds she has been listening to Adele speaking, it's all feels like a pipe dream.
"Oh–my–God" Heather softly whispers to herself, all this private conversation is taking place, while Heather is clinging behind this gigantic tree that was planted by the University twenty four years ago, it's roots precisely spreads largely in size, among the grass that curves around the parking lot and It is only about the approximate of ten centimetres away from Adele and Faith. Heather is one of the Adele's closest friend from school, she's actually the second and the last friend she has ever picked the day they met after a few months in University. You can say that, they actually picked her because Adele is very reversed, shy and she hardly starts a conversation with anyone in any day. Until everyone started noticing her because of her impressive records in medicine, it didn't take any much longer for Heather and Faith to persuade friendship to Adele in a Cafeteria some other day.
But nonetheless, no matter how great her friends are to her equally, the only problem is that, Adele prefers sharing few secrets only with Faith, she doesn't know why but not even once has ever found herself trusting Heather with anything even with her per of scissors and Heather has noticed that. So she uses every opportunity to eavesdrops on their conversation and today is one of those days. Especially noticing Adele has been acting very off, always glued on her phone and worse today she's walking in school, looking like trash. She needed to find out, she had to know what was going on with these two, but what she's been listening to, was far near her conclusion in her wildest dreams, this confession is a heartless disaster.
"Tell me, you joking right? Tell me this is a big joke" Faith declares,
Heather accidentally looses her balance very slightly on her left foot and she steps on a grey, dry leaf that has fallen like the rest, since it's spring. The leaf creaks a very loud noise just when Adele is ready to open her mouth, to confirm her confession. Instantly their both heads darts on the other side of their shoulders, their both eyes fixated straight at the tree as if they can literally hear someone by their scent. At that time, Heather has frozen all her bones, even the blinking of her eyes, she's so afraid, her heart is beating so fast she cannot take it. Standing like that, wondering if you have sabotaged yourself is not a joke.
"What was that?" Adele asks
Faith darts her head back to Adele, brewing with impatience "Just tell me you joking, tell me this is a prank none of this ever happened! Adele suddenly startles big time, when hearing Faith voice demands so much for answers, she quickly moved her eyes away from scanning the tree but her insticts can't shake this feeling that they're not alone. She swallows more saliva, as If she's passing broken razors down her throat, face to face again with her friend and she finally utters,
" No, it's not a joke...I...I did what I had to do Faith, the truth was going to come out anyways. You...you–yourself even encouraged to delete his number and so I thought....you know" Faith's mouth remained credibly gaped for the entire confession, reading Adele's lips that had stopped moving from speaking way seconds ago. "What!" Faith exclaims,
"I know, I know"
"What! Why in the world would you do that? Faith suddenly loses it, even her skin has quickly turned red from being slapped with such horrific news. The tables have turned now, Adele is now the one that is stunned, she's looking at her friend who looks like she'll consume her if she says anything else in this confession. Faith strokes her dark short hair, pressing it at the back of her ear, while she paces in circles in front of her. Her feet that are inside her flat, brown shoes, keeps stepping over the grass, it is no doubt the grass itself can feel the stamps of her feet, pressing down with agitation. And also her slender legs are beautifully hugged by her distressed jeans, whenever she walks, her butt creases more flat behind along with her hips, "Out of all days, you choose to tell him today? This has been your plan all along? You decide to throw us under the bus?" She becomes still and spreads her arms, looking at Adele, while her grey scarf blows north over her blue blouse that is buttoned in her waist.
"Throw us under the bus?...Throw us under the bus?" Adele blinks her eyes and slightly shakes her head. That really sounded very off to her. She's watching Faith who's apparently taking this very harsh than expected and is very moved by her reaction.
"What's going on Faith?" Adele asks.
Faith promptly stops walking around and scoffs, looking at Adele, as it becomes clearer to her and she mutters, "Oh my God, she doesn't know....you do not know–don't you?"
Adele shakes her head, staring at her friend waiting for her to give some answers, while her mouth slowly loosens apart, gaping wide. She's giving her friends such a hopeless look. "Didn't you read the letter? Every student got the letter announcing that Dr. O'Connor vouched for Dr. Oceans to take his place, and he'll be performing the entire surgery, in front of the whole campus, now do you understand?" Faith asks as she ditches her bag on the grass and places her arms on top of head, short pacing again to take a breather.
Adele stood still, cannot take eyes off Faith's presence. It's as if she's in the middle of the room that just went dark without any warning to give her with such an incident. Even her heart beat feels sterilized and slow in these early seconds but the more she repeats Faith's statement in her head, the more her chest starts pumping faster under her tight red t-shirt, that is curtained by her navy hoody, she has been wearing ever since this morning. Her very full rounded breasts without a bra to support her underneath, they start to rise more behind the sweater, even her nipples have sharpened. One of the things that happens to her, is when she's very shocked and nervous.
She turns over, holding her forehead under her big afro and her hand is leaning on her very slim waist. "Ha–what?
"Yeah..... Adele you need to go back home before..."
The car wheels sways to find it spot to park at the parking lot, they both startle hearing loud brakes screaming behind them and so they both quickly looked over but only to find the a silver BMW, the headmaster's car still brewing a daring noise, from its engine and from that moment, they knew Adele's escaping plan is finished.
