Both the Night Elves and the Centaurs were skilled at archery, but while the Centaurs were mounted archers, the Night Elves were foot archers. Mounted archery had the advantage of being able to shoot while moving and dodging, but foot archery had a longer range and more powerful shots. At first glance, it seemed like a fair match, but in such large-scale combat, dodging was almost impossible. A sky filled with arrows meant that no matter where one ran, they would be shot at. In this stand-and-shoot mode of exchange, the Night Elves clearly had an advantage.
However, the Centaurs had their own trump cards. If they were hit by too many arrows and their health points dropped to less than half while running, those Centaurs would immediately retreat at full speed, quickly leaving the combat zone. In the various encampments, there were plenty of Boarfolk Witch Doctors already placing healing totems on the ground to restore health to the wounded.
