A cold drops of liquid trickling on my forehead awoken me from a comfortable slumber. When I open my eyes, perforated roof ceiling greeted me.
"Ugh. My face's all wet." It seems like it has been raining cats and dogs for a while now. I sat down feeling a bit more sleepy and my mind started to drift away only to came back again with a full shock. I touched my head and chest to feel me up, I'm sure as hell that my eyes are also widely open like an owl.
"Fuck! Didn't I died?!" All the events of last night came rushing through and it gives me a little headache.
"That wasn't a dream nor an illusion. Those bastards really killed me." I felt a strong sense of anger, I want to immediately look for them and make them pay for what they did.
But first... "Where am I?" Did someone rescue me and healed me? I don't even feel that beaten, or in pain where I got stabbed. Although I am thankful for them for saving me, this house sure is a rundown.
I got up and started roaming the house, it seems like there's no one here at the moment, but by the belongings and interior, there is definitely someone living here.
"Hmm, maybe I can help them move at somewhere more comfortable to live in. Life must be tough for them, but they still have the capability and heart to save someone in danger. I must reward the-- woah!?" As I walked past a mirror, I saw an unfamiliar face of a boy.
Just wait a minute. This is a mirror, right? Then why am I seeing another person's face in there? I touched my cheek, then my body. See! It's a mirror! It reflects what I act, but the person in the reflection is not me.
"What is happening?" I am starting to panic a little. No, getting anxious will do no good. Let's analyze things first.
I crossed my arms and placed hand on my chin while thinking, still in front of the mirror.
"Am I currently not Louis Cromwell? But I have his memories, no, it's still mine, my memories."
There is only one way to check. "Open status." I opened my status window, it's a system where you can see your own information, just like in the video games.
I was appalled upon seeing the information displayed on my status window. "Th-this can't be... I am another person?"
[STATUS: Name: Primo Mossgreen. Age: 17. Class: E-Class Level 15.]
"FUCK! I'M AN E-RANK!!" I wailed. "No, wait. Let's calm down. I can still work out and level up my rank, though."
Oh this is still not good. Apart from being a teenager and a minor, my rank is the lowest class.
"Sigh. At least I'm kind of good looking." I once again look at myself in the mirror.
Brown hair and eyes, fair skin, lean physique despite living in such environment, thank heavens I'm not malnourished.
"Huh?"
Just as when I thought that it's at least getting better, I noticed something different. "What's this?" It's kind of behind my ear, at the lower part where it seems almost at my nape, a purple sun tattoo is imprinted.
"Shit! Don't tell me-!" I opened my status window once again to check my suspicions. At the bottom part of the window, after the lists of the skills, there is my race indicated.
[Race: Half Human, Half Primordial]
"What's this bullshit? What do you mean a half primordial?" I was stunned to make any expression. I'm a primordial? The race that I have been considering as a long time enemy is what I am now?Does that mean I am not in the earth either?
Primordial Invaders are beings that resides in a portal called Norse that is currently co-existing in the human world. It is also the portals we Rankers subjugate in order to close and stop the Primordials to take over our world. Of course, we kill Primordials in the process.
In panic, I ran out of the house to clarify it even though the rain still falls heavily.
Relief rushed through me when I saw the familiar buildings and establishments, as well as the cars passing left and right, and the people running to take shelters from the rain. "How in the world... a primordial is living in the human world?" I still can't accept this, though I am slowly accepting the fact that I got reincarnated with my memories still intact. But me, as a primordial? Please.
For twenty years I've been hating on them for taking human lives and just doing what they want, claiming that they are the ones who have the more rights to live on earth. They are the fucking reason that I didn't and couldn't lived my life normally.
"Because of them, I died a fucking virgin. Sigh." Ah, no, scratch that. I know it's my own fault, I was too focused on work that's why haven't had enough time to fool around. I was too absorved being a Ranker that I neglected my social life. Sigh. "What a depressed life I had."
I squat at the corner of the pedestrian lane, watching the road full of cars that slowly progress because of heavy traffic, probably due to heavy rainfall. "Is there a typhoon?"
"Ah! What are you doing outside when it's raining so hard like this?! Primo!" A girl holding an umbrella and with long blonde hair called to me.
So she knows me, what is my relationship with her? I tried to check by opening her window through my visual contacts. Fortunately, her contact and status information appeared.
[STATUS: Name: Chantal Ruther. Age: 16. Class: D-Rank Level 18]
Is she a primordial too?
[Race: Human]
Oh, that's good. I don't know what to do if I openly encounter another primordial here. But why does a human associates with a primordial? Doesn't this girl know this body's identity?
"Oh, Chantal. Hey." I greeted, as casually as I can so that she don't suspect. I cannot afford to get busted, not until I figure out what happened to me and how do I deal with it. Especially that my rank is E. Ugh!
"What's with the 'hey'? Anyway, just come inside. I brought chicken soup from home and somw rice. Let's eat!" I can't refuse her and I don't intend to. I am famished and her timing is perfect!
"Did Cray visit you? I hope he still visits you even though he'll be busy with his training." Chantal started a conversation I didn't even know how to respond. "A-ah, no he didn't. It's fine, I understand if he can't visit me often now." Chantal frowned while chewing her food.
"Really? Just the day before yesterday you were so against the idea of the two of us applying because you said you were going to be alone most of the time then?" I can clearly see her confusion, I hope she's not suspecting something though.
"Well, I just thought that what you're going to do is good for you. You know, people can have a change of heart, right?" I continue to eat my food and refused to give her a look. I'm afraid she'll see right through me if I did.
"Unbelievable. Did you just matured overnight? Or are you still being sullen and just wanted to guilt-trip us?" She seems pretty worried. She lets go of her utensils and started wailing.
"Waah, Primo! Don't be like this!" Everything is starting to get messy on the table. "N-no, it's really fine. Please, Chantal, calm down." But she remained deaf to my plead. Ugh!
"I also don't want to leave you out, but you said you don't want to come yesterday! Aah! I'm sorry!"
"Hey, Chantal, you idiot! Are you causing another trouble for Primo?!" A guy suddenly barged in the house, the heavy rainfall matched these tumultuous crowd as they yell at each other.
"Hey, Prim. Guess what?" The newcomer smiled from ear to ear as he faced me, totally ignoring Chantal now who's busy wailing at the background.
"W-what?" Wait a minute, this guy seems familiar. I know I've seen this face before, but where?
"I got picked as one of the successor-in-training by Mr. Cromwell! Isn't it great?! If he picked me as his successor, the Fantom guild will be mine as well as its assets, by that, you can come with me and leave this place so that you can live a comfortable life." He genuinely laugh and stood proudly with his idea.
"Boo! I also got picked at the screening too, you know!" Chantal retorted. But it's the least of my concern. Did he say my name?
Ah, now I remember. This guy is the young lad who asked me then if he will also get cash when he gets to be my successor. This guy's name is...
[STATUS: Name: Cray Ashbluff. Age: 18. Class: C-Rank Level 5]
A C-RANK AT HIS AGE?! I hate you! I suddenly grew an inferiority complex.
"Then, you mean you two are talking about the application for my- I mean, Cromwell's successor?" I clarified.
"Yeah, didn't we told you about it last time as well?"
"We were urging you to come with us, but you continued to refuse saying you have no chance at all because you're just an E-Rank. We really wanted you to at least come though. Sir Cromwell may seemed strict but he's actually a good person." Cray explained.
One thing made it clear in the statements I've heard from them. I, Louis Cromwell died just last night, not too much time had passed by. And it seems like the world still don't know about my death, because if they already do, these two wouldn't be this cheerful.
But there's one more thing I want and need to clarify. And that's if these two knows that I am a primordial. Although it is hardly believable that they do not because they all seems close to each other.
"I still can't go though, even if I wanted to? I'm a primordial." I am taking the risk of being caught if they still don't know. However, Chantal's response made all the risks goes nothing.
"What are you saying, moron? You're not a Primordial though? You're only half." She crossed her arms and raised one eyebrow.
"Huh?"
"Since when did you ever called yourself a Primordial? Aunt Gloria, your mother always introduced you as a Primordus. You are neither a Primordial nor a human. You belongs to none of the two races yet belongs to both." Cray further explained but it's making me more confuse.
"Yeah, you may be a son of a Primordial Invader, but your mother is a human. So technically, you're not 'really' Primordial. Wait, why are we discussing this thing again? We already know this though." Chantal added.
"You are Primo, a Primordus."
