Chereads / Power Cultivation / Chapter 6 - hhh

Chapter 6 - hhh

It had been more than fifteen years since the apocalypse. And while those fifteen years could be considered humanity's darkest times, it wasn't without it's benefits.

As they say, every dark cloud has a silver lining.

While the animals of the world turned into terrifying beasts and plants gained awareness. The humans who were able to withstand the Mana wave discovered to their surprise that not only had their physical prowess been enhanced to another level, but there were a select few among them who happened to awaken special superpowers.

And while everyone who could harness Mana in one way or another were generally called cultivators, those who had superpowers were called Espers.

A special sub category of cultivators. There were many types of superpowers, some rarer than others.

Damon had his back facing the man who had struck forward. The latter believed that with such a short distance, unless the opponents power was indestructibility, there was no way the latter could survive.

Unless he was a King tier cultivator of course. Although he was only a fifth level Qi Spirit realm cultivator, his power allowed him to fight those above his level.

Reality however, was very cruel. The man suddenly felt an invisible force akin to shackles come over his body, rendering him completely immobile.

His attacking arm that was transformed into a bony spear stopped a centimeter away from Damon's back, unable to advance an inch more.

Without turning back, a light chuckle escaped Damon's lips. It couldn't be helped, he found the situation really too funny.

Should he say that he had long since expected something like this. Hehe.... those hypocritical bastards finally made a move.

"So.... They finally couldn't resist scratching the itch on their noses huh? Hehehe..... So which one do you belong to? The seven families? S.P.E.A.R or perhaps....... Nemesis?" Damon asked.

The attack of the various forces was inevitable. Even the government wouldn't be able to sit still.

After all, this mission of his would change the world, literally. Those who feel threatened would definitely not let it happen.

"Damnit!...... Just how strong are you?" The male cursed loudly. His expression was ruthless as he hurriedly tried to deviate his Mana and self detonate. However, to his horror, even his Mana was frozen solid.

It wouldn't respond to his calls no matter what he tried.

"You know what, I don't really want to know who. Well.... It's more like I don't care. As for trying to probe my true strength before you die..... I'm not stupid. I could sense the surveillance superpower on you the moment you got here".

Damon said indifferently. Even if he was going to be assassinated, he expected either a Ninth level Qi Spirit realm cultivator or one at the King tier to make a move.

To send this guy over, it was obvious they were trying to probe his strength.

"What the hell do these guys take me for?" Damon muttered under his breath as he resumed walking. As for the restricted man, he was slightly stunned.

Did this guy disdain him to the point of treating him as an ant? Directly ignoring him. How dare he? The truth was exactly as Damon said, he was trying to see if he would take the bait and accidentally blurt out some useful information before he was killed. Still, he didn't expect this guy to just ignore him.

"You.... Argh!" Suddenly, the man yelled in agony. Horrified, he saw his transformed arm start to crumble before his eyes. Like a contagion, the speed at which it spread and his body disintegrated was remarkably quick.

"Arghhhhhhh!"

A scream filled with unbridled pain sounded at the edge of the cliff drawing the attention of thousands of zombies fighting down below.

"Rawr!"

Thousands of zombies roared and the mindless things charged towards that direction.

"You should leave, it won't be long before this place is overrun by zombies. If you stay, you will die".

Ria stood a distance away seemingly petrified. Looking at the disintegrated man, she was appalled to discover that not even his ashes were left.

"Is.... Is this his true strength?" She muttered, inwardly shocked when she heard his voice. Her feelings became complex in an instant.

Although the cliff was a natural obstacle, if the zombies went around it, it would lose its purpose as an obstruction. There was no way that the army of human cultivators could hold them back.

Instead, it seemed like they had multiplied exponentially.

In a few hours time, they would reach human civilization.

However he wasn't done with his words.

"Return to the city. When I complete my mission, all this would have never happened........ For your own good, don't try and stop me. If you stand in my way again, I won't hesitate to wipe you off the face of the Earth".

Damon's indifferent voice sounded in her ears causing a chill to go down her spine. She looked at his figure with faded away after taking another step.

Was it superspeed or Teleportation? What is his real ability? Numerous thoughts ran through her mind as she stood there.

At the edge of the cliff, a figure stood there making a lonely silhouette.

.......

The space around an area distorted as a human male appeared out of thin air. However, the thick smell of blood and smoke assaulted his nostrils before he could think of anything else.

He could hear sounds and several battle cries coming from almost everywhere. Damon looked forward yet what greeted his view was blood and bones all over.

Several battles were taking place as cultivators fought with monsters in fierce combat. There weren't just zombies, but also mutated beasts attacking everyone and everything in sight.

The bloody scene reminded Damon of those popular zombie movies that played on cinemas many years ago, like The Walking Dead.

Except these monsters moved at speeds those cinema zombies never could.

For a while, the scene was pretty chaotic. There were hundreds of cultivators fighting against the monsters bravely. Without exception, they all wore an Ash silver and dark blue uniform while carrying all sort of cold weapons and armors.

These were the state of the art standard beast weapons formed from the Mana cores of monsters. He should know, after all, he was the one who created them. Every last one of them.

Even their uniforms were created by him as they had high resistance to elemental damage. It could also mitigate a certain amount of physical damage the wearer received.

Damon looked at the fighting as more humans fell while some turned into zombies. He didn't have the slightest intention of helping out. Instead he took out his left hand that had been inside his pocket for a while now.

Sighing, he looked at the beast crystal in his hands that had lost half it's glow and felt helpless.

"The use of a single disintegration power for someone at the fifth level reduced it's energy by half". Grumbling slightly, Damon felt some frustration.

Half of the power of a Beast crystal at the seventh level had been used up to finish a mere fifth level Qi spirit realm Esper cultivator.

However, the disintegration superpower worked magnificently. There were no bones, no blood, no hair, not even the ashes.

It was truly overpowered. Still, he had to be more conservative as he didn't have many cores left.

This was a problem that had haunted him for years. His ability was frightening overpowered.

So powerful that it would cause many to turn green in disbelief and envy. However, there was a reason why his title was both the most powerful and the weakest man in the whole world.

Damon was a rarely seen once in a million year genius. He alone held the title of an engineer, an inventor, a weapons designer, an artist, architect, master hacker, pro gamer even a goddamn special forces combatant before the Mana virus descended.

After it did, he awakened a superpower that he found hard to believe. Yet every Superman has his kryptonite.

He, Damon Vartu, a once in a million year genius couldn't store Mana within his body. Basically he couldn't cultivate.

So unless he drew Mana from elsewhere to power his ability, he would be no stronger than an ordinary mortal.
