After Adrian left, Bella made her way to the ice cream parlor, spoting Mia at their usual spot, scrolling through her phone.
"I see you haven't ordered anything," Bella said as she slid into the seat across from her Friend
"Bella, you actually came!" Mia beamed a smile
"Yeah, I wouldn't leave you hanging here alone,," Bella responded casually.
"Oh please, I have expected Adrian to hold you hostage," Mia teased, her eyes sparkliing mischievously.
Bella rolled her eyes. "Mia, can you be serious for once,?"
"I am serious! What was it that he was so desperate to explain? Wasn't it just a kiss?" Mia asked nonchalantly, barely glancing up from the menu.
'Should I tell her the truth?' Bella thought for a moment but quickly brushed it off. 'No, she'll just make it worse.'
"Well, he just explained it that it was all a misunderstanding, and everything's cool now," Bella said, hoping to dodge further questioning. "So, what are you ordering? I'm dying for those glazed doughnuts with chocolate cream filling," she added, steering the conversation away from Adrian's Chapter .
"I'm going for the Oreo ice cream!" Mia announced excitedly.
"Then I'll get that too," Bella chuckled, amused by Mia's infectious cheerfulness .
Minutes later, their orders arrived. Bella sighed happily after her first bite. "Oh my gosh, this is the best ice cream ever." She uttered
"Told you this would cheer you up!" Mia grinned, clearly proud of herself.
"You're right. It's like all my worries are melting away along with the ice cream." Bella laughed as she took off the cap she'd been wearing, forgetting about it until it landed on the table.
Mia's eyes widened. "Wait… isn't this Adrian's cap? It literally says 'A. Blackwood' on it!" She looked utterly shocked.
Bella groaned, knowing what was coming. "Mia, he gave it to me because it was sunny outside. That's all."
"And you wore it?" Mia's voice was filled with disbelief.
"Well, technically… he put it on my head." Bella admitted, bracing for Mia's reaction.
Mia's jaw dropped. "He put it on you? Himself?"
Bella nodded sheepishlly. "Before I even realized it, he was gone."
Mia blinked in disbelief. "So, he just… placed it on your head and ran off?"
"Yep," Bella sighed.
"That's insane. Please tell me no one saw you two when that happened," Mia said, eyes wide
Bella froze, recalling the few people around the dormitory. "Oh no… there were a few people nearby when it happened." Realization hit her, and she buried her face in her hands. "Today is just not my day."
"Hey, hey, don't be dramatic!" Mia tried to comfort her. "At least you got your favorite doughnuts, and no one took pictures of that happening so darling you are safe!"
Bella sighed, her mood lightening a little. "Alright. Tomorrow, I'll return his cap, and that'll be the end of it. No more drama."
"That's the spirit!" Mia laughed. "But what about the tutoring? Is that still happening?"
Bella hesitated, thinking about the deal Adrian had proposed. "I'm not sure yet. I guess I'll find out soon enough."
After finishing their ice cream, the two girls headed to the library for some study time. Just when Bella thought her day of drama was over, she glanced at her phone and saw a text from her brother.
"Ugh," she groaned. "My brother wants me to come home. ,Looks like the drama isn't over after all.".
