Chapter 16 - THE END

Izumi understood the weight of the words and the meaning all too well. He didn't argue or defend. He kept silent and bowed. All the ayakashis disappeared and so did the goddess.

Daigo: Years passed by and as a result we observe this day.

Lisa: What happened to Izumi? Did he live happily just like Ginji had wanted him to?

Daigo: Some people believe that he lived the rest of his life as a hermit while some believe that he started his family. However, there are also some people who believe he became a priest and served the goddess along with the guardian deities. They also say that till today a pure soul can see Izumi in a monk attire roaming the temple during the festival.

Lisa: Grandpa is it possible that the monk whom I met today was Izumi?

Daigo: Why do you think so?

Lisa: Because

Maria: Father, Lisa I think that was enough for today now no more asking questions.

The following days Maria and her daughter enjoyed the seven days long festival but as they were near to their departure date a sudden news baffled them. After so many years Lisa's father had taken the initiative to see them.

Maria didn't want to have anything to do with Kenta, but she did not stop her daughter to see her father. They closed the gap between them very quickly and Kenta introduced his family to Lisa. For Lisa the world of the adult was very difficult to understand.

Lisa: Do you hate mom? Is that why you threw us away and started another family?

Kenta: I never hated you or your mother. We just met at the wrong time and I'm grateful to her for she raised you to become such a wonderful lady.

Lisa: Then why didn't you come find us?

Kenta, who was an adult, could not utter a single word. The question of an innocent child forced him to think about his poor choices and his failures. The next day Kenta came to see them off. Although he didn't talk much to Maria, he gathered all his strength and said, "I hope you can find it inside you to forgive me". These words had long lost its validity. Maria did not respond instead looked at him as if he was a stranger. Kenta knew that he had already lost the place and importance for him to be forgiven. He bent down to hug his child and said, "I'm really sorry for being an awful father". The kid hugged him and said, "thank you for giving birth to me and I love you". Kenta teared on such kind words and hugged her tightly and said their final goodbyes.
