Logan and Eva rushed to my sides when they saw I had discovered something. Wandering into the room, the door slam shut behind us. We spun around in panic. Eva's face contorted from an expression of curiosity to fear. Logan walked over to Eva, checking if she was okay, while I spun back around, checking out what was in the room. I sifted through the labelled jars holding multiple priceless ingredients. Excitement rushed through me as I thought of all the potions I could make with these ingredients. I struggled to control myself as I searched for the strand of Lycan fur.
Once Eva had calmed down, she and Logan both looked around, helping me find the Lycan fur. After about an hour, give or take 30 minutes, we found the mason jar with contents full of Lycan fur. I released the cauldron from my storage magic, as well as the other ingredients we had brought.
I carefully plopped the ingredients, one by one, into the cauldron and watched as the bubbles devoured the ingredients. After slipping the Lycan fur into the concoction, I slowly stirred for about 5 minutes with my ladle. Lastly, I carefully poured the potion into three separate cups. I checked the time displayed on my phone. Thankfully, the sun had yet gone down. We had about half an hour before the full moon would be high in the sky, so we had no time to waste. I cleaned out my cauldron, pouring the rest of the potion into a vial I had brought along in case we had a surplus.
Flipping through my spell book, I found 'The Spell of Truth' and read through the requirements and directions. We needed an open space, and luckily, being the coven leaders' daughter, I knew just the place. Storing away our belongings, we made our way through the shelves and to the front door. With a hearty attempt, Logan turned the knob and body slammed the door. The door didn't budge.
"Move aside, lemme try," Eva demanded. She tried to open the door with a spell. However, again, the door didn't budge. After multiple tries, we gave up. Panic rose inside of me as I realized how serious a problem this was. If we couldn't open the door, then we would need to wait until someone entered to sneak out, or call for help. Neither seemed like a good idea.
"What do we do?" Eva asked, worry and fear laced into her voice.
"I don't know, lemme think. We still have time." I soothed in the bravest voice I could muster, willing my voice not to crack.
Eva cuddle up in Logan's arms and started sobbing. Unlike me and Logan, Eva hated getting in trouble. The only reason she tagged along was because Logan was her boyfriend. I flipped through the book, looking for any spell that could either unlock doors, open doors from the other side, or teleport us out. After what felt like hours of searching, I found something. It could teleport us out of the hut. However, the dangers to this spell was that I didn't know this forest well enough to know exactly where we would end up afterwards. I pointed out the pros and cons of this spell to Logan and Eva and, much to both Logan and I's surprise, Eva agreed. Her justification was, "Ending up somewhere in the forest, where we can always teleport home, is better than getting caught in here." Logan agreed with Eva, so we formed a circle with the book in the center and read the incantations, imagining where we hoped to end up.
