Chapter 61 - The To do

I had to wrap up a few things as well as do a some extra preparations. With the call of the greybeards it meant I needed to go to Whiterun and quickly. Which meant I had to lynch Erikur quickly.

I sorted through the documents from Erikur's house. The court wasn't in session thankfully. However several people were running around the blue palace. Best guess was after the greybeards summoned the Dragonborn the court disbanded to handle the chaos caused by the shockwave.

So I slipped through the Blue Palace and found Falk's office. Knocking on the door, I shifted through the documents I found in Erikur's house.

Falk called out, "Come in!"

I entered and looked up at the steward. He was doing his own paperwork, it seems he was doing the payroll of the Blue Palace. "Falk! My favorite steward of Solitude."

He looked up and raised an eyebrow. He looked at the clutter of paper I had in my hands. "What is all that?"

I started flicking through the papers, "This is illegal trades relating to both the Dainty Sload and the Thieves Guild. The Balmora Blue that is mentioned is currently safe at the Castle Dour." I picked out a set of letters, "This seems to be contact to a Thalmor Inquisitor? Its proof of plans of Solitude and its many buildings being sold to the Thalmor. This letter talks about the Pelagius wing, before I handled the haunting. It references signs of a daedric influence, which was true, but like... Well you can read it."

Falk took the letter as I pulled out the next folder, "This appears to be money laundering? I haven't had the chance to trace where the gold goes. However good chance that it leads somewhere we don't want it too." I went to pull out another folder that seemed to be related to Melaran, but Falk stopped me.

"Vek, Slow down. Slow down! Wh-What is all this?" He picked up the folder that related to Melaran and some of his experiments. "Is this all from Erikur? How did you get this?"

I rubbed my chin in some thought and motioned for him to lean in. I whispered, "Elisif asked me to handle the situation with Erikur. He has been harassing her about remarriage and such. So... I broke into his home and dug through his stuff."

Falk looked down and sighed, "Fair enough. What do you want to do with all this?"

I picked up another letter, "Involvement in drug trading, Selling of confidential information, I think this counts as treason. I mean this letter seems to be directed to Maven Black-Briar. Who else would be named MBB?"

I tossed it to him and he looked it over. The letter was about escorting some harder to acquire materials. "I've only ever heard of Jarrin Root once, and it was in a compendium about poisonous plants."

Falk grabbed the letter I was holding and looked it over. "Why would they..."

The Letter requested a small portion of Jarrin Root from a private shipment. As well as some vampire dust, black soul gems, and some ingredients I recognized as harmful. The Jarrin Root was what caught my attention though. If a shipment of that stuff was brought to skyrim that explained the fresh root that Astrid gives to the listener. It might be for the best to remove those from circulation.

Falk sighed, "This... I will handle this Vek. Do you want me to..."

He left the question of my involvement in the air. "Nah, just tell the Jarl my job is done."

Falk leaned back, "This is gonna cause some trouble, you are right about this being Treason. We will have to hold another Execution. To think the next execution held since Roggvir is Erikur."

I shrugged, "At least we can clean up Solitude. Anything you want me to do about the Dainty Sload or the Thalmor?"

Falk shook his head, "I'll set up a raid on the Dainty Sload. The ship's hull is heavily damaged and they can't leave port. Many know they are pirates, but due to their small number they could hide most of their crimes."

I nodded, "During that raid if you find a purple gem that floats or something in a small gold lockbox. Can you collect it for me?"

Falk raised an eyebrow, "Its a stone of barenziah, I know a guy who collects them for a pretty penny." I actually didn't, but I am sure whatever player has joined the Thieves Guild will want it. Best to save it for a future bargaining chip.

Falk nodded, "Nothing we can do about the sold plans. I will inform General Tullius though."

I paused, "I actually want to ask you, if I find a stormcloak camp do I report it or just kill them."

He blinked and laughed, "You can't kill them unless its orders from the legion. I don't have the authority to answer that. I assume you are asking me because you forgot to ask the Legion?"

I nodded, "You heard that thunder from earlier? That was the greybeards, as you can imagine things are gonna get... You are gonna be busy."

Falk looked up at me, "You know something? Wait... Greybeards, Could it be th-"

I cut Falk off, "Shhh!"

He blinked and I leaned in again to whisper. "The Thalmor are a big problem. Don't mention any nord prophecies in Solitude. It would be for the best."

Falk glanced at the documents about the sold info. He nodded, "Understood. Anything else?"

I nodded, "I'm going to head to Whiterun and possibly further out. Gonna travel Skyrim to collector somethings. Oh and some advice. To kill a bird, cut off its wings."

Falk would understand what I meant when the reports about dragons start coming in. Falk gave a nodded, "Good luck on your travels."

I nodded and backed out of his office. Now for Sybille, I walked quickly over and knocked on the door. With no answer I waited a second, a second later Sybille throw the door open. "What do you want Vek?"

I gave her a smile, "Hello sleepy head!"

She clicked her tongue and began to close the door, I called out before she did though. "I have some research!"

She looked at me, rubbed her face and sighed. "Answer me this first, do you know what that earthquake was?"

I raised an eyebrow, "You don't? It was the greybeards summons."

She frowned, "The Thu'um... Perhaps that requires some study. What have you brought me to trade."

Our dealings were a blessing for me. "Three, no, four things."

She opened the door and let me in. I instantly took out some Stalhrim and some dragon bones. "Can this, be made from this?" Holding out the two materials Sybille looked at them with a strange expression. "Interesting, I will need to study them. This is Stalhrim and Dragon Bone?"

I nodded, "I don't have a lot of either anymore. I used most of the Stalhrim to make my armor. While I only have a few dragon bone fragments, I got lucky to pick up a few fragments."

She nodded, "What else you got?"

I pulled out dawnbreaker and she took a step back. Her face made an extreme frown, "Get that away from me."

I put it away, "I figured you wouldn't want to study it up close. However I do need your help on changing its destiny just like the Azura's Star."

She leaned on her bead, "You have an addiction, might need an intervention if you show up with more daedric artifacts."

I rolled my eyes, "I'll summarize it, For whatever reason Meridia took a liking to me. Not wanting to serve her eternally or whatever, I made a bet. I need to make Dawnbreaker here, as strong or stronger than its past."

Sybille actually gave me a rather thoughtful look. "She must really want you. The Daedric Prince Meridia hardly ever makes deals or bets like the other princes."

I shrugged, I wasn't gonna spill the beans that Meridia knew of my interaction with Sybille. So I gave a nod and asked. "So can you help me?"

She studied me a little before nodding, "I am unwilling to interact with Dawnbreaker. However I can come up with a few ideas on how to strengthen Dawnbreaker. I will also be kind and include the methods of weakening Dawnbreaker. This is only the second thing you wanted to ask me about though?"

I nodded, I was hoping she would have results on the Stalhrim and Dragonbone project, while also having some way to change the ingredients of a daedric artifact. Reinforcing the Daedric artifacts was the easiest way to make them stronger. However if I could reinforce them with different ingredients.

I looked back to Sybille and pulled out all the pieces of the Razor. Her eyes went wide and she glared at me. "How many Daedric Princes are you messing with? Also repairing and changing Azura's Star is one thing. However if you think I can repair this."

I laughed, and I asked. "What's the difference?"

She shook her head, "Turning the Azura's Star into the Black Star was due to my knowledge of Soul gems and research notes you gave me from the Maylum? Mayln? Whoever that fool was. Point is I had years of study on the subject. This is what an artifact made by Mehrunes Dagon? At best I can study it and tell you how to move the magical energies it is imbued with to a new item. Though even that is not guaranteed since it is a Daedric artifact."

Actually that might not be that bad, "Could you teach me how to do that myself?"

She stared at me and shook her head. "You would need to begin studying the art enchanting."

I nodded, "I'll leave it to you to study then. Please make your notes very precise."

She scoffed, clearly taking offense that her notes are anything but precise. She grabbed the fragments and tossed them in a silver lock box. She put the lock box away before I had the chance to ask about it. "What was the last thing you wanted to bother me about? I'd like to sleep."

The last question was actually something I was thinking about for a while. "Do you know about a green Khajiit? A Vampiric Khajiit Perhaps?"

She frowned at me, "I don't know every other vampire Vek. I thought you were building an information guild."

I sighed, "Don't mock me. Look this Khajiit is..." How do I phrase this? I thought for a second in silence.

Sybille finished my sentence for me. "Strange? Having some sort of addiction to Daedric artifacts?"

I stared at her, "Yeah, pretty much. You ever hear about anyone like me? Less about the Daedric Artifacts and just being stranger than your average person."

She shook her head, "Actually, I know you are referring to in the past. However a research colleague I talk to in the College of Winterhold mentioned a rather impressive student with some rather, strange habits."

It was rather likely a player was in the college of Winterhold. "Number one, who in the college? Second can you describe those habits?"

She rolled her eyes, "A fence named Enthir, he sells rare ingredients. The student's name is Gwenn, and well... Enthir describe it as an abuse of the word like."

I gave a nod, that was a player no doubt. "Thanks for the information."

Sybille raised an eyebrow, "That's really it?"

I gave another nod, "It's complicated. I can't really elaborate on it."

She rolled her eyes, "Leave then, I want to sleep."

"Fair enough!" I turned on my heel and stepped out. I didn't want Sybille to beat me or something.

I had two more things to handle before I run off to Whiterun. First was to tell Legion I was off to Whiterun. The second was to sleep. I needed to allocate some perk points and I've been putting off my level up allocations.
