Chapter 12 - The Goddess of Blood

"May I ask where you heard of 'this' from, Sky Emperor?"

The Sky Emperor laughed.

"That is not of your concern. I would ask you to refrain from asking anymore prying questions"

The patriarch sighed, Knowing full well what the Sky Emperor was talking about.

The Goddess of Blood.

It was an alter the clan was built upon. The founder of the clan would've had no idea what the alter was, had it not been for the translated text left behind by other practitioners that also discovered the alter and spent their lives trying to figure it out. The patriarch had tried to figure out what would bring out whatever lay in the alter, as even the strongest weapons at his disposal couldn't damage a tile on the floor. The past patriarchs have all attempted, with no luck at all. Though, this much is expected. If a god inheritance, specifically from one of the strongest gods in existence, was so easy to obtain, then it wouldn't be an inheritance to begin with. The conditions set by the previous practitioners state that their needed to be a sacrifice of someone compatible, though the requirements for compatibility were never stated, so this information was ignored.

The Goddess of Blood was siblings with the God of Slaughter, daughter and son of the Moon Goddess, who gave birth to them single-handedly. The Goddess of Blood was known for her violent tendencies and ruthless personality. Unlike her brother, the God of Slaughter, the Goddess of Blood enjoyed every kill, where as the God of Slaughter killed just because he could. She was recognized as the most beautiful God in existence, taking her traits from her mother, equally qualified to hold that title.

It was said they once fought. The records from ancient times say that the Goddess of Blood burned the God of Slaughter to death with his own Blood. Their reason for fighting was unknown, but with the unstable emotional capacity of the Goddess of Blood, many assumptions were made. The Moon Goddess had to resurrect the God of Slaughter, then punishing the Goddess of Blood for the killing of her son. The Goddess of Blood had an uncontrollable bloodlust, that developed worse over time. After her imprisonment that lasted millions of years, she lost control of her bloodlust which was built over time. Following her release, she killed her mother. The Moon Goddess never expected she would die at the hands of the daughter she so doted on, therefore never having her guard up. The Goddess of Blood never expressed any ounce of regret to the mother she loved so much before her punishment. The God of Slaughter, after hearing the news, became enraged. Uniting himself with the God of War and God of Lighting, he ambushed the Goddess of Blood. Their fatal mistake? They never knew the Goddess of Bloods true properties of her power. As they fought her, pushing her further and further back with every injury, they noticed her strength and carelessness increase, slowly losing her usual personality and demeanor. She started voluntarily allowing them to hit her, seemingly taking pleasure in her own pain until she became crazy. This battle continued until the Goddesses strength got too strong for the trio. After they were exhausted and beaten down, the Goddess of Blood tortured them for years on end until they died.

The families of the fallen gods became infuriated, sending out all of their power to hunt her down until they were able to corner her in the former Lands of the Moon, the same place the Moon Goddess resided. The Goddess of Blood became simply unrecognizable to the families that once knew her. Her hair became a dark red from the usually fiery red hair she had. Her eyes seemingly contained hell itself, as anyone who stared into them lost themselves in a dark abyss. Her smile, no longer charming billions, instead instilled fear. She stood, overlooking the hunting parties of the 3 families, her lifeless eyes hovering over them. Her dark red hair floating in the wind. And the background behind her… covered with walls of blood that seemed infinitely high, so far you could never reach the top.

After a long battle, the goddess of blood was eventually 'slayed'. Leaving behind the last of the Moon Goddess blood and an imprint in the Ream of Gods history.

Arriving at the Patriarchs estate, the patriarch and Sky Emperor entered the gates of the premises.

"Patriarch of the Xi Clan, I wonder what you came up with to open such an alter of inheritance?"

"It still hasn't been found out by us, despite or clans long history of attempts, none have proven fruitful."

The Sky Emperors eyes narrowed, appearing in front of the patriarch so fast, he couldn't respond. Grabbing him by the neck and restraining his power, he whispered in his ear.

"Patriarch of the Xi Clan, I already know of your many visits to the alter in the past year. It would be in your best interest to cooperate with me, don't make me work more than I already am or it wouldn't be a pleasant end for you."

The patriarch shivered. As he was about to speak, the Grand Patriarch appeared before the two.

"If I may speak, Sky Emperor."

The Sky Emperor turned to face him.

"You may"

The grand patriarch let out a long breath of melancholy. It turns out all of the hard work they did for the past couple of years would bear the fruit for another to benefit.

"A sacrifice was stated to be needed within the alters records, but were ignored by our predecessors. But we believed that the alter required someone similar to the Goddess of Blood to act as a sacrifice to excess the contents inside."

"And you have found a sacrifice?"

The Grand Patriarch nodded his head.

"I wouldn't mind sharing with you the information should you compensate us for our cooperation."

The Sky Emperor laughed.

"Not killing you and your clan is already enough of a compensation, it is above you to request conditions."

The Sky Emperor looked at the Grand Patriarch as if he were a joke.

"Will all due respect, Sky Emperor, should we decide not to tell you our plans, you will never be able to open the alter."

"Hahaha! Are you challenging me?"

"No, this is not based upon persuading words. The patriarch and I have implanted Source Stones into our bodies, and will explode if we so will it. We are the only ones in the world with knowledge to the alter. I'm sure you would know what happened if others caught wind of a God Inheritance?"

The Sky Emperor's expression finally changed.

"Very well, compensation is a minor loss compared to the power I could achieve."

The Grand patriarch pulled out a scroll from within his spatial ring.

"But before I let you know of the information, I want you to agree on the terms of this contract."

The grand patriarch thought, and in the next moment, the blank scroll was filled with words.

"As long as we provide you the information, we are also allowed to benefit from the small items or things in the alter should there be any. You will also provide us compensation in the form of Spirit Stones and will never be able to plot against us or silence us in the future."

Fury appeared on the Sky Emperors face.

"Your pushing your luck."

"You don't have any other option here, Sky Emperor."

The Sky Emperors Grand Stage Qi exploded out, violently snatching the scroll from the hands of the Grand Patriarch. He signed it and returned it to him.

"Enough of this farce, you will tell me now."

The grand patriarch let out a deep breath inside.

'I got the most from him, any more and maybe he would have just killed us'

"Of course, Sky Emperor. Have you heard of the genius of the Xi Clan?"

"I have heard."

"Her name is Xi Meiying, she was adopted by the fifth elders daughter and has been raised her since."

"Get to the point, what does a genius of such a minuscule clan such as this, have to do with opening a god alter!?!"

"She possesses Azures Frost, it's has the same properties of the Goddess of the Blood. We've nurtured her for the past couple of years since her awakening, and it's started to have more affect in her personality. Although we haven't confirmed it yet, we feel she is the strongest match according to the records left at the alter by the last patriarchs and practitioners."

The Sky Emperors face further cringed.

"So you don't even have a definite way to open the alter?!?"

"Nothing is certain, Sky Emperor."

"Very well, being her to me."

The grand patriarch had a helpless expression on his face.

"We would like to have your magnificent self present, as she is a bit tough to handle with just the patriarch and I."

The Sky Emperor mockingly laughed.

"What? Has the Xi Clan fallen so much that they can't even handle a mere girl?"

"She is of the Emperor Qi Stage"

"What!?"
