A year had passed and it was currently the 30th of Iceltic, 604 LC. Today was Calais's birthday, but as the tradition in this world, there was no cake or party. According to practice at least in the free cities of Atillo, you give a single gift to the birthday boy/girl.

Sitting at the table with the rest of his family Calais would be lying if he said he wasn't excited to get his presents. Today marked his first year in this world but actually was longer than a year of Earth time. This was the 16th month he had been here, meaning this world had 16 months in a year rather than 12.

Upon realizing this Calais had been showing more of his intelligence. As well as his quick learning a few months ago.

He rewarded his Mother for all her hard work taking care of him. With his first word being 'Mama'. Then Calais quickly began to say 1-word responses or just talk 1 word at a time around his family. About a month ago he started speaking in broken but mostly full sentences. And requesting books to read.

Calais also played 'hide n seek' with his brother and others when they came over. But he was really just trying to level skills, tho winning always made him more content.

These actions saw Calais leveling and earning skills rapidly, but he was still level 10 in each.

His other progress came in the form of his stats. Calais was growing so he got natural stat increases. But he was also working hard to have more than just base level 10s in each stat by the time he was done growing. Calais was the proudest of his magic stat progress. Having earned a huge increase, reaching a total of 8. Giving him 80 mana but still, he hadn't used his ability on anyone. This was about to change.

"Alright, I will go first!" Genghis said while doing a quick jog out of the room before quickly coming back.

"This I had custom-made for you from the Mrs. Longos store," Genghis said presenting him a purple towel. It said Calais in gray at the bottom.

"Thanks, Genghis, I like it a lot!"

"I'll go next so we save the best for last," Miadithis said before pulling out a blanket with many shades of brown. "This is a blanket made of wooden spider silk, I can guarantee you'll be sleeping comfy with it. So take care of it."

"Thanks, Father! I'll make sure not to eat in bed anymore and take care of it." Calais said smiling.

"I'm glad you learned your lesson," Kaylessa said with a slight glare. "But none of that here Calais, this is my gift but your Father helped me procure them so it's also his gift too." reaching into her bag she pulled out a scroll that was bigger than Calais and a book as well.

"This is a map of the continent, considering your interest in geography. This is a book of all the animals and plants on the continent with stories about them." Kaylessa said.

'Animals and Plants of Atillo', this will be useful. Thought Calais while opening the first page.

2 pictures were shown. The first is a skinny bear cub about 3 feet tall with no fur on its chest and stomach. It had a bear head but for ears, it had long almost elf ears. Then the next picture was the same creature but on all 4s showing its fur-covered body.

'Goblin Bear' the picture was titled. 'These vile creatures plague just about every forest on the Attilin continent. They usually walk on 2 feet and move like a bipedal. But when they want to run they do so on all 4s. These creatures are a plague and must always be killed. They are smart but have never been seen with active skills. Hunt in packs often using ambush and swarm tactics. Warning! Dangerous if one is seen there is always more nearby.'

This seems very troublesome, they are smarter, stronger, and faster goblins. Calais thought while turning the page.

The next page showed a large eagle in the first picture. Then the next had the same eagle but it showed it with 2 arms and hands coming out of its sides.

'Man Eagle' it said. 'These creatures make nests usually in the mountains but have been known to live in large trees. Be wary of their talons and beak. Man Eagles will steal and are smart devious creatures. Warning! Man Eagles are known for kidnapping children.'

God damn, this is just getting worse! Calais thought with a bit of concern. Then looked up at his Mother and thanked her. His worry must have shown on his face because Kaylessa immediately said.

"Don't worry most of those animals live deeper in the forest. And Gundahar has many capable guards that not only keep a strong lid on crime. But routinely go on extermination missions in the surrounding area. Gundahar is also close to 2 other big cities that do the same so it's very safe." Kaylessa said reassuringly.

"Oh, and Calais," Miadithis spoke. "Not to pressure you or anything, but have you received your active skill ability yet? It is uncommon not to get one, but if you didn't we would love you all the same. Just curious is all."

Hmm, did get mine but it's rather evil in nature. He said he will love me regardless but is that really true? Calais thought for a second but quickly dismissed those thoughts.

No, I love my family, and they love me. What is a man without trust, what is a man without family? A scared and lonely man, someone I do not want to be. Confirming his thoughts Calais broke into a smile.

"Yes, actually I got it a while ago. It's called [What's Yours Is Mine, What's Mine Is Yours]."

"Hmm never heard anything like it. I assume it involves stealing and sharing, what does it do?" Questioned Miadithis.

"I can take someone's active and hold it, as well as use it. I can hold up to 5, and I can also give active abilities that I have held." Calais said confidently.

Upon hearing this the Ithai family went quiet. After a few seconds, Kaylessa stood up abruptly and said.

"Calais don't ever share that with anyone again," Kaylessa said dead serious. "You to Genghis, NOTHING, of this gets out am I clear."

Calais and his brother both responded with a nod of the head, slightly scared of the way their mother was acting.

"I'm sorry for startling you but this is serious. Calais if word of your active gets out people will come for you. This is no exaggeration, you could build an army of people with any active you want. It is very dangerous." Kaylessa intoned solemnly.

Having finally processed this information Miadithis asked.

"You haven't used it right?"

"No, I haven't had someone to use it on. I also don't know how much mana it cost. It does say that for each ability held the cost will double. And it has a 1-day cooldown to start."

"Should I get him, someone, to try it out on?" Midaithis asked in a quiet tone toward Kaylessa.

After taking a moment to think Kaylessa decided on an alternative.

"No we shall buy a slave, he will serve to test Calias's active. But not only that we could make him extremely loyal on top of his slave bondings. With the promise of a better active, I can easily manipulate his emotions in our favor. Not only that I could use some help around the house and he will serve as Calais's servant."

Manipulate emotions? My Mom is kinda scary, Thought Calais.

"On top of that, what level are you 2?" Miadithis asked

"I'm level 9!" Genghis said proudly, hoping for some praise.

In for a penny in for a pound. Thought Calais as he said.

"I'm level 8."

"WHAT!" Yelled Miadithis,

"Oh system save me." Mumbled Kaylessa.

"How in the system are you 1 year old and level 8 Calais? This is simply not possible unless you have several tier 4 and 3 abilities at level 10. Or you have a huge amount of abilities all level 10. Actually, do you have any tier 3 or 4 skills Calias?" Miadithis asked in anticipation.

I don't think they are mad, almost excited. Proud maybe? Genghis seems to be pouting slightly but I'm sure he won't be if he understands I can give him any ability he wants.

"Uh yes, I have 1 of both. I have tier 3 Detect Lie/Truth (LV10), tier 4 Eidetic Memory (LV5)."

"Fucking sea demons," Miadithis said before turning to his wife. "Honey are son is a bloody prodigy!"

Kaylessa seemingly in a daze only nodded her head. Then proceeded to shake her head and say "Calais if you're level 8 and you to Genghis if you're level 9. You should have many skills stuck at level 10 right?"

Calais and Genghis both nodded.

"Okay well, we will be fixing that shortly. Especially you Genghis, being so close to level 10 means you are close to prestige. Now I'm sure you have heard about it but let me explain it to you and your brother. Upon reaching level 10 the system will ask you to sacrifice and upgrade a skill. This means you will get rid of the skill, never to have it again. But also upgrade a skill, making it able to level to 20 and improving said skill. Not only that but upon sacrificing and upgrading a skill you unlock leveling past ten. This gives you 10 free stat points. It is very important which skill you prestige because there is no going back." Kaylessa explained.

"So Mother, should I prestige my tier 3 ability first?" Calais asked.

"Unfortunately you can't. It has to be your 3rd prestige before you can upgrade a tier 3 skill." Kaylessa answered.

Hmm, so I can upgrade a skill every 10 levels, and I get extra stat points. What skill should I upgrade from my tier 1 skills?

"This same thing happens at level 20, but you get 20 free stat points instead, and so on. So as you boys are getting close I and your Father will help you obtain and level up new skills. Hopefully, you can easily reach level 10."
