Chapter 3 - JUST BEFORE THE STORM II

"Yeah, we know that", a tiny high-pitched voice chirped in, "I just wonder if your calendar is so full of weekends. Perhaps you should check again to be sure", Ruby replied sarcasm evident in her voice.

"Hey! Watch what you say, Ruby".

"No, you watch yours", Ruby screamed back. "What's your problem? It sucks to get to school late almost every day of the week".

"You know what? I have had enough of your..." but Fiona was interrupted.

"Girls, stop it!" Susana commanded from her seat. "Instead of bickering at each other, why don't you finish up your breakfast and try to get to school in time".

"I didn't start it in the first place", Fiona muttered to herself but Ruby heard her clearly.

"You were clearly the cause", Ruby fired back.

"I said enough!" Susana yelled banging the table while Donald was about to burst into a fit of laughter. "It isn't funny Donald", she glared at him, "control your girls".

Donald cleared his throat noisily, "Ahem! Yiu both heard her", was all he could say before they continued with their meal.

Ruby was a very rude and spoilt little girl with curly reddish-brown hair just like her father's. Her hazel eyes were those of inquisitiveness and she was always ready to annoy Fiona though, that was her weird way of caring.

After their meal of honey pancakes and chocolate drinks, they left for school on the family vehicle, driven by their parents' chauffeur, Dakota.

Susana stood by the window, watching the vehicle leave. "Don?" she called Donald fondly after the vehicle vanished from sight.

"Yes, is anything bothering you?" he asked concerned.

She sighed, "No, I just wonder how you manage to keep smiling during their quarrels".

He chuckled lightly at her bumping her shoulders gently with his, "it's sometimes entertaining, Suzie", he said embracing her from behind as his hands rested on her hips.

"They're just too stubborn".

"Which reminds me of your younger self besides you ought to have seen how red your face was. It could have fried the pancakes", Donald replied only to get a dreadful look from her, "but we've got really beautiful girls just like you, don't you think so?"

"You're really great at redeeming yourself, huh?" she scoffed then continued, "of course, I wouldn't doubt that for a sec".
