Chapter 12 - Training

After putting the books in my subspace I once again took the shuttle to my final activity for the day.

I was going to put to use what I had read and attempt to recreate it.

Getting off at the training facility, I admired it silently.

A massive building made of strengthened marble.

It was so that the building would not be destroyed during training.

Entering through the large glass sliding doors I was amazed by the interior.

Night had already fallen and it was around 8 pm so most people were eating dinner right now.

Therefore I wasn't surprised when I found the main hall of the training facility almost completely empty.

There were about 5 kids, however, the hall was quite large so it wasn't an issue.

In the training facility, there were private training rooms that could be rented out for a set amount of time with credits.

Credits were essentially Merit Points and were the only other form of payment here aside from regular Elnes.

However, credits had many uses such as these private training rooms which could only be rented out with credits.

As I had no credits I was stuck in the main hall.

There was also an aim training room as well as a combat test room.

Heck, there were more rooms than I could count that led to God knows where.

Making my way over to the changing room, I pulled out the gym uniform we had been given from my subspace and changed into it.

Stepping barefoot on the mats, I truly felt what it was like to be in my 'prime'.

As this body was, well to say the least, not in a healthy shape, I wasn't exactly in my prime but whatever.

As I began performing stretches according to the training manual I had borrowed from the library I noticed someone coming up to me.

Raising my head I could only curse inwardly.

"Nowhere to go this time, huh." came the voice of Anna who sported a smirk on her lips.

Sighing, I stopped my stretching and stood up.

"Look, I don't know what kind of misunderstanding happened but can we not do this?" I asked.

Anna scoffed and shook her head.

"After what happened? I should just go expose you right now!" she practically shouted at me.

Hmm?

"Expose me for what?" I asked as my brows furrowed.

"You really think I wouldn't notice how rotten you are?" she asked me incredulously.

"After what you did there was no way I would fall for your fake smile, and I saw you push Aaron so that he would attack Luke."

"I don't know what you have against him but I've got enough to expose you for the fake you are," she said as her lips curled up condescendingly.

"No, you won't," I said, stepping closer to her.

"Oh yeah and why wouldn't I?" she asked, her voice slightly trembling as she backed away from me.

However, she hit the wall and could only look in fear as I smacked my hand against the wall and pressed my face up to hers.

Her heart was beating violently in her chest.

"Because if you do, I'll expose you for the half-breed you are. Little demon," I whispered in her ear.

Her eyes widened in fear and surprise as her gaze flitted to me.

"H-How?" she asked, her voice trembling.

However, I ignored her and went back to my training routine.

She asked a couple more times before giving up and beginning to train a bit away from me as she kept an eye on me.

To be honest, I ignored her because I had no answer as to how I knew.

After all, silence is a weapon to be utilized.

However, I knew that she was a half-breed.

Her mother was a demon and her father a human.

Her mother had left when she was 10 leaving her and her siblings with just their father.

However, her father contracted an illness soon after leaving Anna to run the house.

So she matured faster than other kids and took care of her family.

As demons were hated even more than elves then if I exposed her for being a half-demon she would certainly face tough times.

As I trained, unbidden memories began coming back to me.

Closing my eyes and relaxing I began to perform the movements I had seen in the book.

They were very similar to the military techniques of old so it was a tad easier to learn.

Step to the right, swivel.

Plant feet, bend.

Right now I was practicing footwork, as when handling a rapier, footwork was especially needed due to the requirement for speed.

As I had not unlocked the ability to use my Martial Technique I had no choice but to work on it naturally.

As I swiveled, my feet entangled, and I tripped, sending me face-first into the mat.

Getting up and rubbing my nose I got ready to begin again.

"Try turning your waist when you make the swivel." came the voice of Anna.

I was skeptical, however, I implemented it the next time I tried and it worked.

"Thank you," I said before returning to my training regime.

We didn't say anything for the rest of the time and I left before her.

My whole body was drenched in sweat as I made my way to the showers in the training facility.

I would shower at the dorm, however, I don't know who my roommate is and it would be impolite to arrive like this.

Grabbing a medium-sized towel and taking off my clothes before storing them in the subspace, I made my way to the showers.

Cool black tile and gray walls met my eyes which made for a nice aesthetic.

They were open showers so they weren't individual stalls but had small walls that blocked the lower half of the body.

As I arrived at the showers I noticed two other people were there showering, however, it was relatively empty.

Making my way to a cubicle of sorts, I draped my towel on the wall next to me and turned on the hot water.

As the hot water soaked my body I grabbed the soap absentmindedly as I contemplated over the things I had learned today.

It seems I inadvertently changed the plotline, by how much I wasn't sure but I knew it wasn't good.

I also had to take special care to not get too close to Lucia as I was unsure what exactly her abilities did.

Anna was a problem as well however it was a work in progress.

Emilia didn't seem to recognize me so there was no problem.

And I just had to keep setting up the scenarios for Luke as he was clearly incapable of taking care of himself.

Dear God, I'm like a mom.

As I was lathering the soap on my body I noticed 3 boys come into the shower room.

As soon as those three boys came in, the other two kids locked eyes with them and left.

Quietly pouring some of the soap on the floor in front of the shower it blended in with the already wet floor.

"Well what do we have here?" came a loud voice.

Turning around I saw that the one in the middle had spoken to me.

He had a tattoo of a phoenix on his chest and was relatively tall.

The other two had tattoos of a phoenix on their shoulders and were looking at me with hostile gazes.

Raising my eyebrow I waited for him to continue.

His eye twitched slightly at my silence, however, a smug smirk crossed his face.

"Hey, kid, I don't know who you offended but they really don't like you."

"We got paid 2,000 Elnes to take care of you so why don't you just give up and we'll go easy on you?" he said, his toothy grin still in place.

2,000? That's a lot, what the hell did I do?

"I'll pay you 3,000 if you leave as if nothing happened," I said evenly.

The tall guy pondered over the offer for a moment while rubbing his chin.

"Sorry, business ethics," he said before cracking his knuckles.

Business ethics?

Since when do cavemen have business ethics?

Regardless I grabbed my towel as they approached.

"Go get him." he barked at Goons 1 and 2.

As they both rushed at me, I waited patiently.

As Goon 1 was about to reach me he suddenly slipped over the soap I had poured on the floor and smacked his head against the bathroom tile.

Goon 2 paused in his advance and looked down at Goon 1 on the floor.

Taking that opening to my advantage I swiftly stepped forward while striking my towel at Goon 2's face like a whip.

Goon 2 recoiled, clutching his face in his hands as he stepped back.

"Pfft, you're feisty aren't you?" came the voice of their leader.

"Well let this senior show you some guidance!" he said, charging at me.

'And so it begins.' I thought with a sigh.

*Do I even need to write it at this point?*

Anyways so I'm just letting you guys know that I'm reducing the amount of chapters I put out a week from 7 to like 4-5 simply because I can't keep up and the stress is making the future chapters in my opinion not as good as I work a job as well so yeah sorry about that, as an apology il post an illustration of Isaac so that means no chappy tmrw, Hugz <3
