Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 - Ranch base - Justin

At the next day early morning, Peter dropped Tina and Jenny at the Origin Church and proceeded towards the ranch outside of the city. He didn't except to get surprise yesterday. About Jenny, he has mixed feeling towards her. Although Jenny is perfectly beautiful and a good helper to him, she is overbearing. However, Peter knows himself that he could not refuse her anymore as he is already starting to fall in love with her. There is no reason and sometimes love just comes out like that. Peter felt greatly satisfied and sped up as he changed the lane. He wanted to reach the ranch faster and train to become stronger. Then, he remembered about the contractor he scheduled to meet today so he slowed down again. Under the early morning soft sunshine, a white ford is moving forward on a somewhat lonely highway road.

At a quarter past six, a white ford entered the somewhat special ranch near the forest. Unlike the other ranches nearby which are free of modern things, in the ranch of Guardian Spirits headquarter, one can see a lot of technological things. On the roof of open hall ranch house which has become canteen, there are solar panels for electricity. Near the entrance of the ranch, there are various vehicles parked together. At first, there were some voices coming out from Amish community who repel modern things but Alimosh withstood toughly with two recommendable places annually. After knowing that the newcomers are warriors of gods, Amishs raised their hands willingly and even praised old Alimosh for having Guardian Spirits guild settled down in their community. In fact, weeks ago, they opposed Peter from buying the ranch in their community.

In the ranch, there are already sweating men jogging along the dirt road in neat rows as a formation like marching a military parade. This is the hard work done by Chester and his old subordinates. Moreover, things went well as almost all of them used to be soldiers because of Chivas military recruitment system which was reformed ten years ago. Due to tensions and constant conflicts among four superpowers; United States of America, Aryan Empire, Sun empire and Socialist Soviets Federation, in struggle for resources in African continent and middle east, Chivas military recruitment system was proposed and came alive in 1961. It made every young adult to go to nearest recruitment center to serve the country as long as they reached the age 18. CMR system was taken down and became a history in 1975 when Tribes Alliance was formed. Constant suicide attacks of Tribes Alliance on the foreign troops stationed on their lands let the four superpowers retreated and changed their plans. Since then, a new war has started. The method also changed from arm struggles to business struggles. Of course, newest Tribes Alliance is still no match with old four superpowers in technology and development even till this year of 1986.

After some training and adaptation, almost all of them got into the mood of iron blood and discipline during their old days of serving the country again. The only out of tone guys are two Amish young men and their newly joined chinese cook Alex. The trio are also wearing weight bearing suits and struggling to follow behind the formation at the tail. Peter greeted Chester in front of the formation and jogged together with the crowd along the dirt road back to the base. If a stranger met them like that, he would probably feel that he might be in army camp again.

The morning jogging routine continued until 7 o'clock. At that time, all members have arrived to the ranch and the guys are already more or less sweating and hungry. Next is breakfast time. Alex also carried his tired body to fulfill his job as a cook. He understands that he has to hold the chance tightly. Alex prepared the soup ahead so he could participate in training too. Jack Lawrence and Paul Belsoka have no thought about training to become stronger currently and they only wanna enjoy their peaceful life with their wives. Moreover, these two guys are working hard to get children since they get back to stable life. Everyone leisurely ate the rich breakfast and rested for a while. While a part is talking about how they have been doing during these days, there are also guys addicted to gaming. There are also several dead wood guys who are training their hands with suitable dumbbells in various poses.

While standing on the porch and looking at the fields in sight, Peter took a sip of hot soup and sighed inwardly. Yes, this kind of life is good. Although you would occasionally hear messy thick voices of big men in the hall, Peter finds that he somehow likes this.

While Peter was drinking the last mouthful of soup, Chester walked to his side and said, "When will the contractor come?"

Peter said, "Soon, I guess. We have business and they want money."

Coincidentally, the two then saw a pickup coming towards their place along the dirt road. Peter said, "It's probably our contractor."

Chester leaned on the handrail and said, "Tell me when you get the bill. I will transfer my money to their account. I thought about it last night. And I felt that I should spend my money first. We don't have a lot of money in the guild. Am I right?"

"You're right. We have been spending on a lot of things. Now, there are only around a million dollars in the guild account. And we can also eat a lot. You know that Chester, what I fear now is not about insufficient money for cabin construction, but about no money for food."

Then, Peter walked inside to put back the steel bowl in place. He felt that it was quite inconvenient to drink soup with steel bowl. While washing the bowl, he felt that steel mugs might be better than bowls. Since he got the idea, Peter silently wrote down the plan to buy a bunch of stainless steel mugs in the to do list.

When he came out to the porch again after a while, Chester was already talking with a bald middle age contractor with beer belly. They were having a nice conversation while two men were measuring the place with a bunch of engineering stuffs on a spacious ground beside the barn.

Peter walked over and said with a smile, "Hey, Justin. I am Peter. We talked on the phone in the yesterday's evening."

"Thanks for choosing us again."

Justin smiled and reached out his hand. After the two men shook their hands as greeting, Chester said, "So, Justin. How much would it cost if we transform the entire dirt road?"

Justin looked back at the long dirt road and asked with a surprise, "Entire road? You mean starting from highway?"

Chester hurriedly corrected, "Of course, not. Just starting from our ranch entrance."

Justin thought for a moment and gave the answer seriously, "The suitable one is bituminous road. It would cost at least $5m for one lane. So, basically, if you're taking two lane bituminous road, you have to spend at least $10m."

Peter who was wondering about what these guys talking about suddenly coughed and reminded, "Chester, we don't have that much money in the guild. At least, not now."

Chester nodded at Peter and said to Justin, "If we wanna do it, can your team take the offer?"

Justin smiled and said humbly, "Of course, we can do it. You might not know it but our team is actually a branch under Trump's real estate and construction company. Even if you want to do a big project like building underground nuclear bunker, we can ask our parent company for people and equipment and build it for you. You will certainly get standard quality things in affordable and reasonable price."

Chester only kept that in mind and didn't say anymore. Before the scene fell into silence and awkwardness, Peter pointed towards the two men busying measuring the land, and he asked, "You see, Justin, we are starting a private training camp here. Moreover, we just bought this ranch here not long ago so toilets have become a real trouble. How fast can you build it?"

Justin smiled and said calmly, "We can satisfy the wish of customers. Our motto is that customer is god. Of course, if you wanna accelerate the project, the cost will go up because we have to hire more workers."

Justin is a smart old fritter who has been wandering in society for years so he never asked anything about cabins in framework stage he saw from the start to finish. Overall, their conversation went well and both parties were satisfied. They agreed to build the two story building in a week urgently at the price of $3m. Chester directly transferred one third of money to the bank account reported by Justin on spot. Then, under the curious eyes of Justin, the two joined their brothers and started the cabins construction again. Looking at sweating men with very high working efficiency, Justin felt that it would be great if he could get a team like that.
