Chapter 46 - Message Delivered

Lina shook her head, she hadn't intended on seeing Jason naked, however the results were satisfactory she thought, seeing her brother Liang on the ground, unconscious. "Brother, wake up!" she shook him, trying to bring him back to consciousness.

After a few moments, Liang finally came to. He looked up at his sister, still feeling angry and embarrassed about the misunderstanding. "I… I wasn't…" he started to explain.

But Lina cut him off. "You weren't what?" She smiled at him, a hint of mischief creeping onto her face.

"Y-you" Liang stuttered in disbelief.

Lina chuckled, "I've known you my whole life brother, I know your type…" she said laughingly. "If Jason was a strong and silent, well-endowed beauty then I might have believed it."

Liang's cheeks turned red in embarrassment, 'Is it that obvious?' he thought in defeat. In the end, he let out a sigh of relief, thankful for not having to explain himself further in front of his little sister. "Thanks," he said, slowly getting up. "I'm gonna go bathe now." He then quickly made his way to the bathroom, hoping to forget about the embarrassing incident.

As for Lina, she couldn't help but feel a little guilty for teasing her brother like that. Truth be told, her scream was real after seeing the naked Jason, but she was not as naïve as her brother believed. However, one thing she noticed after seeing him was that he had severe scarring most of the way up his leg. She cringed at the thought of how much pain he would have endured.

After all the previous excitement she had forgotten what she returned to the room for, shaking her head she decided to sit on the bed and wait for Jason to finish bathing so she could pass on the message, as well as have a little chat.

Not long later, Jason exited the bathroom, his face still flushed red. "Hey," she said, trying to get his attention.

Jason turned around, startled to see Lina. "Oh, uh, hi," he stammered, feeling like a vulnerable chicken after just hatching.

Lina smiled kindly at him. "Look, I just wanted to apologize for what happened earlier. I may have used your situation to tease my brother a little, I'm sorry."

Jason looked perplexed, not having an idea of what she meant.

Donning a mischievous grin, she emphatically explained the situation. Moments later Jason's face flushed a beet red, either from indignation or embarrassment. 'If Rosa were here and heard this filth, she would be mortified.' Thinking about Michael's younger sister and his childhood crush, his embarrassment quickly turned to sorrow.

Lina saw the change of emotion on Jason's face and instantly began to feel remorse for her actions, "A-Ah, it was just a joke. I'm sorry if I offended you." She said with a panic.

Jason looked over and gave a hollow smile that didn't reach his eyes. "It's okay. I understand how it must have looked."

They both sat there in awkward silence for a moment before Lina spoke up again. "So, what happened? Why were you naked?"

Jason hesitated for a moment before explaining that he was refining his meridians and had a breakthrough, the impurities that were flushed had caused his clothes to become dirty and unusable.

Lina listened with understanding; she had faced the same issues after reaching the yellow tier meridians. Remembering that oily yet sticky feeling, not to mention the smell, she could not blame Jason for his actions.

They sat in silence for a while, both thinking about different things. "Ah, there was a message for you." Lina said, finally remembering the outer sect servant from earlier.

"A message? Could it be from my Brother?" Jason's whole being seemed to be filled with energy at the thought of his brother.

Lina nodded, noticing the change of attitude in Jason. "He said he wants you to meet him in the alchemist division at noon."

"Haha! I knew it" Jason quickly jumped to his feet, his expression almost glowing. If he were a dog his tail would be wagging furiously.

Seeing the excited puppy in front of her, Lina almost laughed out loud. 'His brother must mean a lot to him' she thought expectantly. 'I wonder what type of man he is.'

"Didn't you say your brother isn't a cultivator yet? How come he's at the alchemist division?" Lina asked curiously. From her knowledge, being a cultivator was the prerequisite to refine pills. Without Qi one would not be able to fuse the ingredients in the pill furnace.

Jason who was almost bouncing off the walls in excitement answered sincerely "Nope, he's an alchemist servant."

'Alchemist… servant?" Lina asked, almost not believing her ears. 'Here I thought this guy would have some sort of background to get Jason so excited. I guess they're just really good brothers.' She thought silently.

Jason nodded like a pecking chicken "Yep! That's my brother. Did you know he used to be the best herb gatherer in the village?" he boasted proudly.

"Ah… that's great" Lina said unenthusiastically.

Before Jason could continue his "boasting" about his brother, the door swung open and Shen entered the room. He instantly scrunched his nose in displeasure, "Whoa who let one off? It stinks to high hell in here." He looked over at Lina questioningly.

While it seemed like a question, Shen's eyes were almost insinuating that it was her who had soiled herself. Instantly, Lina's previous demeanour changed to one of rage as she jumped up and sprinted toward the unsuspecting Shen.

With a single palm Shen was sent flying out of the door he had just entered, falling 10 feet away on his back. She shook her hand as if to shoo away the germs she got from making contact with him before yelling "You're the one that stinks! Your whole family stinks!"

Jason forcefully held back his laughter as he watched this scene, suddenly he didn't feel as lonely as before. With the promise of seeing his brother tomorrow he was in a great mood.
