“MONSTER!” He screams as he rushes Apophis. He is so lost in choking the life from his next victim he doesn’t even realize the intruder. Roderick grabs him by the back of his head and with ease tosses him across the room and into a table which shatters into pieces. One of the shards of wood impaled Apophis through his leg. The woman begins coughing as air rushes to her much needed lungs. Apophis grabs the dagger from the woman and shakily points at him.
“You have some balls attacking me! Men!” He screams. Two soldiers burst through the door to find Roderick standing across from Apophis. His eyes are glowing blue and a grin made of blood lust starts to creep onto his face.
“You two will die here. This is fact, is his worthless life worth yours?” He asks coldly. The soldiers look at each other than at their General.
“This is no man! He is a demon sent by Set to stop us from unifying Egypt! We must kill him!” He commands and they charge Roderick.
“So be it, I gave you a chance.” He says. One of the soldiers’ stabs at him with his spear and he effortlessly dodges it then grabs the pole. He yanks it from his grasp and stabs the man in the stomach. The remaining soldier swings his blade at him and he pulls the spear from his gut then parries the attack. A cling sound fills the air followed by a scream as he stabs the solider in his throat and charges forward. He stabs the spear into the wall with the soldier hanging from it. Apophis tries to stand but when he puts pressure on his leg blood begins to spray from his wound. Roderick leaps towards him and he grabs him by the face. He gazes down at the blood, and he licks his lips. He opens his mouth to devour Apophis when he sees the look of fear on his face. Memories of the terrified villagers rush into his mind and he backs releases his face and backs up. He looks down at his own hands which have the blood of the soldiers all over them.
“No, I can’t do this again. I… Must not become a monster. Ife would hate me like this!” He yells as he leaps from the balcony and out into the night.
“Dress my wound you wench! After you’re done with that get my Captain. We have some business to deal with!” Apophis screams at the girl. Roderick runs as fast as he can. Scared of his willingness to kill others so easily. I could have disarmed those soldiers without killing me. What if I attack her? Should I just leave this country? Is she going to be safe with me? No. He is the monster! I must allow her the right to choose. I must see her. Up there I can see the whole city. She must be in the royal palace. He thinks as he stares up at Great Pyramid before him. He begins his ascent, climbing his anger and worry away. His sharp nails dig into the stone as he goes higher and higher. As he reaches the tip he looks out at the city and the view takes his breath away. He can see for miles in every direction. The stars above twinkle as does the full Moon that shines down on all. Peace begins to wash over his senses as he cannot feel his blood lust anymore. He is too far away from the living and as such he can relax. Scanning the sprawling city below he sees the palace. The wind gusts against his skin and he smiles at the coolness of the breeze. Zooming in on the building he sees a balcony and his love stands on it. Ife stares out at the same moon as he and the wind blows her beautiful dark hair from her face. He can see her so clearly and all at once the worries he carried are blown away. There is no way I will ever hurt her. She is the peace I so desperately crave. Being around her is everything. He thinks. Suddenly she collapses while holding her head. He slides down the Pyramid at top speed, using his hand as a brake. He slides until the very last moment of impact and then leaps forward. Bounding over a vast distance he finally lands on a nearby roof. He dashes from rooftop to rooftop and finally reaches the palace. Rushing up the side until he reaches her. He picks her up off the cold stone floor of the balcony and carries her in his arms to her bed. He lays her down gently and places a blanket over her. He smiles for a moment and as a gust of wind blows through the room he is gone.
Ife pounds her fist against her bedroom door over and over again. Her anger begins to build, she never liked being controlled in this way. Even when she was a child her father would o this anytime she disobeyed him in the slightest way.
“Let me out! How dare you keep me in here!” She screams. Her voice begins to become raspy as she yells louder and louder. After an hour of pleading with the guards to let her out she gives up and returns to her bed. She plops down on it and that gross feeling of helplessness begins to overtake her. Suddenly a pebble flies into her room from the balcony and bounces. Surprised she walks over to the balcony and looks over it to see Roderick standing on the ground.
“I know we were supposed to meet this morning but I get the feeling something stopped you. I hope you didn’t decide not to come on your own!” He yells as he rubs the back of his head. His smile is cute. She thinks to herself.
“My father has locked me in here! I wanted to see you!” She exclaims with a smile. Roderick winks at her and puts one finger up in a wait motion. He runs into a nearby alley and comes back out with a rope.
