Chapter 8 - 08.

Despite the limited moonlight that penetrated through the branches Tessa let out an inward gasp at the size of the wolf.

Chris was a huge-sized wolf, but he could not be compared to the wolf that stood before her.

Tessa had the feeling, that any further movement of the wolf, could affect an earthquake.

Its muscles protruded from his dark fur causing the moonlight to lay its spotlights on them.

The eyes of the wolf.

At first, she could tell that they were red, but as the wolf took a step toward her, an argument was formed in her mind.

The color of those eyes is something she could never quite pinpoint.

Calling it red would be a lie, as she spotted a gleam of gold by the side, and a silver color passing like a shadow through his eyeballs with the red color, built up like a burning furnace behind the magical combination.

Trying to understand would only add to Tessa’s headache.

Tessa took a step backward.

She needed to obey her instincts at least once.

Even while moving her legs, Tessa felt glued to eye contact with the wolf.

Could be described as a magnetic force? Because it felt deeper than that. As though she was compelled to obey its wishes. As though she could not move unless it wanted her to.

‘Run Tessa!’

The wolf took a step towards her, causing her claws to tremble.

Even when her mother was on the verge of death, she did not feel the tremendous fear that she felt within her heart.

It took another step, without breaking their eye contact.

The midnight wind brushed her fur, causing her hair to stand, but no effect was made on the fur of the other wolf, it remained stoic as though a rush of wind had not just passed.

She needed to run. From the look of the wolf, it did not come to play with her.

The branches of the trees above her began to shutter and the leaves began falling as though they could sense that something huge was walking toward them.

Ten feet away, Tessa was still standing unable to move. She could imagine its fangs buried into her skin as he tears off the remains of her soul.

Did she want to die?

She could prevent this act by running off. But she had no idea why she was unable to move.

She could have attributed it to alpha's will, a power strong enough to control a wolf. But, he wasn't her alpha.

Chris was. But since she left the pack, it meant she was no longer a pack member. She was now a rogue.

The wolf was five feet away. His eye color seemed more confusing with each step he took, it seemed to confuse her way of thinking. Every glance at him caused a riot in her mind.

When the wolf was a few feet away from her, Tessa closed her eye and expected his tear on her skin.

One second

Two second

Three…

She felt nothing. Only the rushing sound of the wind.

Tessa opened her eyes. And was shocked at the sight of the wolf running away from her, further into the woods.

She wanted to howl, and bark. Scream at it for scaring her and trying to dominate her like that. But she only found herself staring in anger.

Why would such a huge wolf leave her alive after instilling so much fear in her?

Tessa turned back and began walking toward her small home.

On a normal day, she would have loved to seat under the trees and stare at the crescent-shaped moon from the tiny view given to her by the branches, but at the moment she was only filled with anger that she was so useless.

Tessa shifted back into her human form and got back to her home.

She brought down the curtain. She could not allow anything to remind her of her annoying night.

Tessa put off the lamp and forced her racing mind to sleep.

***********

Tessa pulled her blanket up to her face. But the buzzing sound which seemed to come from her phone had its way of penetrating her ears.

She pulled her pillow from beneath her head and pressed it against her ear, but the annoyance from the customized ringtone sound, got her to pick up the phone from her bedside table in anger.

‘’Who the hell is this?’’ Tessa asked without looking at the name of the caller.

‘’Tessa darling, don’t tell me that you have already deleted my number.‘’ The voice said.

Tessa knew that voice.

Tessa had grown up with that voice playing around her.

‘’Okay okay, let me remind you. It is Mona your lovely sister.’’ Mona replied in-between her shrill-sounding laughter.

Tessa nearly slapped herself in anger. She had forgotten to get rid of her sim card and buy a new one.

‘’What the hell do you want Mona, what do you want to steal from me again what…’’ Tessa yelled trying her best to control her anger. But she was interrupted by Mona.

‘’It’s okay with all the ranting. You have nothing more that I need.’’ Mona laughed.

Tessa clenched her jaw, preventing her lips from blurting some curse words.

‘’I am sure that you are aware of my relationship with my new husband. We have decided to get married tomorrow. And what would a wedding be without the sister of the bride available to hype up the bride.’’ Mona added.

Tessa felt her eyes getting wet as she heard the news. He was getting married. The bastard was getting married. To her sister. But she needed to maintain her composure.

She could pour out her anger on a fool like her sister, who would end up mocking her.

‘’Mona, get the fuck out of my phone!’’ Tessa hissed.

‘’But…’’

‘’No… GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY PHONE! Mona’’ Tessa barked.

‘’I am only inviting you to the wedding of your only sister. So you know that she has been ordained the Luna of one of the biggest packs and is getting married to a powerful Alpha.’’ Mona exclaimed with sarcastic laughter, which fueled annoyance in Tessa.

‘’Don’t get an angry darling sister. I still love you. I do.’’ Mona added.

Tessa could swear that she heard some background laughter after the words of her sister.

Her sister was playing a game of mockery with her.

‘’You will be a special guest at the wedding. I am getting married to your freaking husband.’’ Mona yelled accompanied by a loud-sounding crackle.

Tessa pulled the phone away from her ear and stared at the screen. Some days ago, she would stay up hours discussing and laughing with her sister, but at the moment she dreaded her more than the devil.

The last thing Tessa needed was to have a phone call with anyone who would fuel her anger and remind her of the past.

She clicked on the red button on her phone and hung up on Mona, who was surely between her next mockery statement.

Tessa dropped the phone on the bedside table, suddenly remembering that she had limited money and little food.

Shopping was next on her mind.
