Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

It was during one of my hikes where I brought the wrong bag, the weather was cloudy, and I slipped off the boulder I traversed many times before. I cursed myself for that stupid mistake and braced for impact. It was quite some time before I realized that I've been falling for some time. The boulder was jutin out of at most a two story height yet the rush of air was the only thing hitting me.

Gathering the courage to look was a poor desicion on my part. What laid ahead of me wasn't the cool, muddy earth laced with shrubs and fallen branches but rather a ever encombassing blue. A thought swelled within me until I could deny it no longer.

I was falling out of the goddamn sky! Thoughts of why or how gave way to an incoherent string of screams. Try as I might the winds forced my eyes open, dragging out tears from their sockets.

While panicking, I failed a to notice something speeding towards me. What bursted into my view was at first a man wearing a wing suit, then a blur of blue and green, and only when the swirling of shapes and colors stopped did I get a view of the man.

Man maybe a bit of a stretch for what hovered before me was anything but. The greens, yellows, and tans weren't part of the wingsuit design but the very skin of the creature. The shape while humanoid, was covered in scales with small horns protruding from its head, and large wings sprouting from its back.

"Ghwua, ghwua, ghwua", escaped the lizard man, "A tiergado flying, ghwua, ghwua, ghwua."

The gulping sounds, which I would later learn is how they laugh, slowly died down.

"So little tiergado what should I do?", he said while loosing his grip.

The shock of the talking lizard man gave way for the fear of crashing into the ground below, "N-now, now, no need to be hasty", I pleded.

"So you can talk!", spoke the lizard man as he threw me over his shoulder, "Wait till the others see this. Ghwua, a flying teirgado."

I thought to protest being flung and held like a bag of potatoes, looking down I thought better. I didn't know how long it took to get wherever the lizard man was taking me but I did notice the air getting cooler. Jerked from my thoughts, and tossed onto the ground, was enough of a clue as to our arrival.

I laid on the rocky ground partly because I was in pain and partly because I was releaved to be back on solid ground. The strange laugh from my flying transport alerted me to my surroundings.

Landing on the edge of a cliff face was the lizardman whom brought me here. Glancing around I notice more of these lizard man with varying sizes and slight color of color, yet there was no mistaken they were all of the same kind.

"Rizarno, why in the skortch sky have you brought in a tiergado?!", came a heavy, raspy voice. I cared not to look at the speaking lizard man and hope his questioning of 'Rizarno' would distract the inhabitants. I was dragged back to the center of attention.

"Now, now Garl", said Rizarno with a toothy grin, "This is no mere tiergado. This, my friend, is one that can fly!"

          "What", said Garl in disbelief.

          "What!", I shouted.

"It's true watch", Rizarno gleefully cheered before grabbing me by the collar and casually tossing me off the edge.

The last words I heard after being thrown off were, 'Show them tiergado'. If I were to survive this fall, I'll wryng the neck of that overgrown gecko.

I found comfort in hitting the side of the mountain as apposed to the ground, bruising aside. I kept rolling until I came to a stop, too tired to move. "Damn…"

The sound of distant screaming awoken me from my rest and not till I steady my breath did I realize the screaming was coming from me. Playing back recent events, I mamage to believe it was a nightmare of sorts. An uneasy feeling came over me when I remembered that I hadn't waken up before the fall but after. A rustling of rocks alerted me to a presense.

"Oh.", said a shocked voice, "You're up."

The figure darted towards me. It was then that I realized how dim the room was. From what I could see the figure appeared just as human as you or I, yet knowing that lizard men exist I was cautious.

          "I applogize!", shrieked the figure.

As the figure pleaded for forgiveness, my sight began to adjust to the hanging darkness. The figure, now only a foot away, appeared truly human except for enlongated ears and gray skin. Bawling before me was not human.
