Chapter 12 - A Teacher(1)

The bell ringed, warning me about the entrance of my teacher. Me and my parents opened the door and went to greet a magician clad and hooded in a green robe with one silver ring on each sleeve.

I opened the doors and my parents greeted the mage. The mage was standing up and laughing at a joke a guard made with his hands crossed while holding onto a short wooden staff with an egg-sized gemstone on top. It was a green and yellow gemstone which had raging forces within it.

"Hello, I suppose you are the mage who is going to teach our child" Said my mother, a fan covering her mouth and lower-face.

"Yes, that is indeed what I am supposed to do in the next few years;" said the mage with a womanly voice. "However, if he doesn't hold up to my expectations, I am afraid that I will have to go back to my tower." She said, rather annoyed.

"Yes, you need not worry for he will study intensively for this." Said my father rather seriously.

"Then shall we have a talk?" She looked at me from under her hood. At that moment I felt as if something was inching its way into my very soul.

It was a terrifying experience to say the least, but I gritted my tooths and tried to retain my colours.

"Excuse me, but my child has yet to undergo the awakening ceremony."

"Oh…" said the mage, rubbing her neck through her robes.

We then quickly walked towards the mansion. My mother informed me through a telepathic message that I should go and talk to my master in a saloon in order to know her better.

She thus gave Gerard the order to prepare a tea for me and my master at the tea-saloon.

"Excuse me teacher, but would you mind if we were to get a tea together?" I asked

She looked at me in the eyes with a look of disject in her eyes.

"Ugh, don't call me teacher." She started. "It makes me feel older than I am. Just call me by my name, Emilia" After saying this, she took off her hood, revealing a head filled with black hairs that seemed to devour the light out of the room.

She had very light make-up and an extremely pretty face. She looked to be around 20 years old, but in this world, peoples can be either far younger or far older than they seem.

I was taken aback by her appearance before I recomposed myself.

"O-ok" I said, while muttering to myself about how her personality made a 180-degree turn.

We then entered a small room with two couches and a table between them. She sat on the sofa in front of the windows. I sat in front of her.

"…"

A maid came in at the right time to avoid the awkward situation that I had been put in. The maid started placing the plates filled with pastries and cakes.

"So, do you know the basics of magic?" She asked once the silence started filling the room.

"I … read about it in a book" I said, fidgeting with the chain of my fob watch.

"Great, then we should be able to get started on the practice, right?"
