I have just moved into my new house. Surprisingly, the king decided at the last minute to give me an entire house instead of just a new room. Calling it a house would be an understatement; it's more like a mansion. As long as I don't have any roommates, I'm fine with it.
"Hey, Miss Francis! It seems that we will be roommates. Isn't that exciting?" A girl, who appeared to be in her teens with short red hair and armor from head to toe, waved at me as she jogged lightly. Within seconds, she was standing right in front of me.
"Oh, hello," I greeted her, secretly annoyed at the idea of having a roommate.
"Hmm, your voice sounds a bit irritated. Are you annoyed with me?" she asked, leaning forward with her finger on her lips.
"No, not at all," I replied, trying to maintain a polite tone. This girl was invading my personal space a little too much.
"Okay, well I guess we'll be living together, along with some other people. Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Aki Yoshie. It's nice to meet you," she said with a bright smile.
"Other people?" I didn't like the sound of that, not one bit.
"You didn't hear? There will be eight people living in this house, plus some maids," she informed me. So now I'll be living with eight people, huh? This sucks, and it couldn't get any worse.
"Well, let's head inside," I said, trying to hide my disappointment.
"Yeah," she replied with a soft smile. Together, we entered through the metal gate and followed a stone walkway. The surroundings were lush green, creating a pleasant atmosphere. In the distance, I noticed a beautiful greenhouse. Perhaps they grow their own food here.
As we approached the mansion, we ascended a staircase leading up to the house. Suddenly, a strong sense of hostility washed over us, as if someone intended to harm us. I glanced at Aki, and her expression turned serious. She began to draw her sword, but I swiftly stepped in, extending my hand to halt her.
"You mentioned we have roommates, perhaps they're just not getting along. I suggest you sheathe your sword."
Reluctantly, Aki returned her sword to its sheath.
Just then, the sound of shattering glass echoed through the air. It seemed to come from above me. Then, I heard a thud to my left and turned my gaze in that direction. There lay a man on the ground, unconscious. I descended the stairs to get closer to him. As the door unlocked and swung open, a woman emerged, adorned with black hair and wearing a dress. A panicked maid followed closely behind.
"Madam, please, you shouldn't be outside right now. Your dress might get dirty,"
The maid pleaded, but the woman paid no attention. She approached the man, completely unaware of my presence.
"That's what you get, you perverted piece of trash!" she exclaimed, delivering a few kicks with her high-heeled shoes. Gradually, her kicks slowed down until she eventually stopped, letting out a dramatic sigh as if she had just finished running a marathon. The maid hurriedly went to the woman's side.
"Madam, please, head inside." Another maid rushed over and said,
"Madam, I will take care of my mistress. Please tend to Greer." The maid knelt down beside the bruised man, checking for a pulse, before lifting him up and holding him tightly in her arms.
"I really hate my childhood friend sometimes," the mistress muttered before retreating back into the mansion.
