Chapter 3 - Smart Devices

Jono entered the living room and sat on the couch. He then turned on the holographic screen of the smart device in the form of a smartwatch and watched a video about the fundamentals of super abilities. A middle-aged man is shown in the video explaining super abilities.

"The super abilities possessed by humans are of various types. Each human super ability has unique characteristics that set it apart from others. Most humans have super abilities such as the ability to control elements (known as element controllers), transform into beasts (known as body transformers), and possess guardian spirits (known as spiritas)."

"Some humans can command or summon beasts, or have other unique abilities that not many other humans have in general," explained the middle-aged man in the video.

"From there, the state government divides human super abilities into four major types, and then each major type is further divided into minor types, which define the characteristics of the element types or attributes of each human super ability," said the middle-aged man as he displayed several pictures depicting the different types of super abilities.

The middle-aged man then began to explain for a few minutes until he completed the material he was explaining. Jono also highlighted the key points explained in the video. For example, how to determine the characteristics of the owner of certain super abilities, how to determine the effects of unique or mutated super abilities, and so on.

According to the video, the four major types of human super abilities are elemental controllers, body transformers, spiritas, and The Uniques.

Elemental controllers are humans who can control the elements of water, air, fire, earth, darkness, light, plants, life, death, space, time, and gravity. In terms of magical energy quantity, elemental controllers are generally far superior.

Body transformers are humans who can take on the abilities of a wild animal, beast, or other creature by changing their physical form to match the creature's personality. In terms of physical strength, body transformers are generally far superior.

Spiritas are humans who have a guardian spirit who can assist their owners in battle. Spiritas are generally far superior in terms of soul power.

The last one is the unique ability type. Unique abilities are super abilities that fall outside of the first three categories of super abilities. Because unique abilities are super abilities with a small number of humans in each type of super ability, and unique abilities are essentially a group with a diverse variety of super ability types, such as beast taming, hypnosis, and others.

"I am an owner of unique abilities. Perhaps I should look for information about unique abilities that have been known before," Jono said, while fiddling with his smart device.

Jono recognized that his super ability belonged to the last super ability type: The Uniques. After tapping his watch, a holographic screen appeared in front of Jono. Then he began to learn about all the unique human super abilities that had been recorded.

Jono continued to study it until he fell asleep on the couch. The notification sound from his smartwatch wake him up at sunset. Jono frowned slightly when he saw the notification.

The notification comes from the high school where Jono has enrolled. The notification states that Jono must send complete personal data ten days before the first day of school entry, as well as information about school uniforms, which will be sent to his address five days before the first day of school if he is accepted into that school.

Jono couldn't help but sigh. He had no idea if he would be admitted to the school he had applied to. The essence of the message from the school where he registered was that a selection of students would be made ten days before the first day of school.

Actually, one can apply to a maximum of three high schools, and a selection will take place ten days before school begins. If the score or points are insufficient to compete for admission to one of the three schools listed, they will admit the student to another school with a student shortage. If they do not meet the entry requirements for the schools listed, it is up to the ministry of education to decide which schools they will attend.

Jono's super abilities have yet to be registered. Actually, super ability registrations do not have to be detailed because every super ability someone has is better articulated and can be a private secret. By holding a short demonstration at the SAD Center, one's registration only registered the major and minor type of super ability one possessed, whether it was elemental controller, body transformer, spiritas, or unique. For example, [elemental controller-water element] or [body transformer-snake].

Someone would be one of the four major types of super abilities. Jono wanted to immediately register that he had a unique super ability, but he couldn't demonstrate it because he didn't yet know how.

"D*mn, I even overslept," he grumbled.

Jono then went to his bedroom and to the bathroom to shower. He intended to go for a walk around the Oaf Public Settlement District to purchase some items. Jono has read numerous methods for identifying unique super abilities, one of which is using objects that contain magical energy.

For some reason, Jono believes that trying more methods is not a bad thing. Many owners of unique super abilities have super abilities that initially resonate with specific magical items. There are also those who must meet certain requirements and those who can identify their super abilities in a life-or-death situation. There are numerous methods for identifying unique super abilities.

Jono chose the method with magic energy-containing items because it was one of the few methods he had not tried. He had tried many conditions that other unique super abilities possessed; he had even deliberately passed through many death-life accidents, but none of them worked, so he chose to use things that contained magical energy.

Jono went for a walk in the apartment complex at half-past eight o'clock at night. There are twelve complexes in the Oaf Public Settlements District. Each complex has at least five main buildings, each of which contains one to three apartment buildings as well as several other structures, such as supermarkets, shops for daily necessities, and buildings with other functions. Jono lives in the Oaf Public Settlement District, complex number ten and building number two, in a complex called OPS10-02.

"Just one complex is very wide. How can I walk around the Oaf Public Settlement District?" thought Jono, complaining. He had originally planned to go for a walk around the Oaf Public Settlement District to get a better sense of the surrounding area. Actually, he wanted to explore all the twelve complexes, but after only exploring one, which is the complex where he lives, he is exhausted.

Jono walked not only around his complex, but also around the neighborhood. He rested several times along the way. Jono came to a halt in front of one of the buildings in Complex Number Three.

He was interested in the building because, according to the information he read, it is the only place in the Oaf Public Settlement District that sells magic items. This building housed a shopping mall that sold various types of magic items. Although not as extensive as in the Commerce and Business District, this was the nearest location to his apartment that sold items containing magic energy.

Jono stepped inside the four-story building. The building's exterior was shaped like a dark silver tube. It didn't appear to be noteworthy. It was only the golden motifs that made this building appear elegant. When Jono entered the building, he was taken aback by the numerous rows of stores selling various items.

"Wow, there are so many stores here. So, where is the store that sells magic items? It would be quite difficult for me to locate it," commented Jono.

Jono attempted to wander around for a while, looking at the stores on the first floor, or the so-called ground floor. Most stores sell clothing, household appliances, beauty accessories, and so on that are related to daily lifestyles.

Jono attempted to make a brief stop at one of the stores that piqued his interest. This store sells a variety of smart devices.

Jono sighed as he examined his smart device in the form of a watch. He stated, "This watch is a little worn, and it doesn't look particularly cool. If I had a lot of money, I would purchase the most recent smart device." He saw a variety of smart devices, some in the shape of watches like the one he was wearing, some in the shape of accessories, like bracelets and necklaces, and some even in the form of miniature vehicles and living creatures.

Jono saw and tried various models of the latest smart devices, which piqued his interest in replacing his smart watch-shaped device. His smartwatch is an older model, and he wants to replace it with a newer model, but when he sees the price, he abandons his plans.
