Chapter 4:
Seeing the worry, fear, and panic in those eyes of her hardened savior, she smiled. She wanted to see more of her expressions.
It's a shame she may not get to see them. Succumbing to her fate of dying that day, she chuckled to herself. At least she saw a spark of light.
Before she fell, however, warm arms embraced her and slowly dropped alongside her. Her head now lay on her saviors lap. Looking up, she saw a few tears falling down her face. Startled, she gently wiped them away. Stunned at the fact she took the initiative to touch someone.
She was gently placed on the ground. Looking up at the woman, she showed signs of having a panic attack. Not the kind where you make yourself smaller, but a more dangerous one where you rush everywhere, tripping over yourself, not feeling pain.
She unknowingly reached out with a trembling hand and tugged at the woman's pants. Those deep, navy blue eyes were no longer dull. They were filled with panic and tears.
Nevermind, she didn't want to see more of these expressions. Just happy ones. She would do anything for a smile. These thoughts crossed her mind and she self-deprecatingly laughed. What's that going to do? Seeing one person's happiness. Will that make up for all those lost?
A headpat awoke her. Those eyes were staring at her, burning her again. This time, they seemed more composed.
"It's alright. I will be back. You really are an idiot." The woman sighed, got up, and left. So be it. If she were to get burnt, she would still see her smile. 'An idiot huh? Yeah, I am. However, if I get to see you, I will gladly be.'
