Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

2 days before leaving the Palace...

==========================================================

This is not good at all! I have only 3 days before I'll be arriving at the Village, What should be the 1st thing to do when leading a village? Shouldn't be that difficult right? I just need to find something to help make people feel comfortable. this enough for the villagers, right?

ahhh! I don't know what to  do! This is too much! The problem is, I can't think of anything that would help! What if there is something in one of the books that says how to lead a village? Maybe I can start researching and go with that later!

'Yosh! let's go to the library and search!' I thought

as I made my way to the library, it was the biggest building in the palace, and also where my Father  kept most of this Kingdom's history and knowledge. Well... almost all.

Once in the library, I went straight for the historical section, looking through some old books to see what kind of information they might provide to me related to governing skills.

'Well let's see here.,' I said to myself as I continued to flip through each book, hoping that something useful would come up.

After several minutes of searching, I realized that there wasn't anything useful in this section, so I left it in defeat.

"Young Master, did you find what you

needed?" A voice asked from behind me.

It was the librarian ! "Yea.. nope, but I didn't come up with any information helpful to me!" I answered her.

She frowned slightly, "I see..." She looked over my shoulder at the large bookshelf, "You can look for books about governance in another section Young Master."

"You mean this next section?" I asked her

"Yes, Young Master." she kindly replied.

"Oh," I replied. "Thanks anyway!" I said before turning on my heel and going in the direction where she pointed.

I walked passed more bookshelves before I finally found what I needed.

"This must be it!"

I thought. I grabbed the dusty old book and carried it over to a table by the window.

There were two open chairs and I plopped down into the chair farthest from the door. I started flipping through the pages of the book until I found a section titled, 'Governing Lessons.'

There were a few notes about different kinds of leadership styles, each style was very helpful.

Just then, I started to read the basics of basics, when leading a village . I knew that my father had mentioned the fundamentals of managing a village before, and that we should probably learn those basics when planning the day to day operations of the village.

'Good luck trying to teach these things to a village full of teenagers!' I said to myself

but I kept reading anyways

As I continued reading, I began to see some similarities between leading a village and ruling a kingdom.

For example, the first paragraph stated that villages were led by elected leaders who took care of their own needs, the second paragraph talked about how to organize their resources, and the last paragraph stated that all the important decisions should be made by the village leader.

After a few hours has passed...

I didnt noticed that it was already night . I guess I really did get sucked into reading through this book.

I placed the book down carefully and decided that its time I go to bed.

As I was getting ready to leave the library,  I heard someone talking, it sounded like they were coming from the librarians office.

When I opened the door, however, no one was there.

"Huh?" I said out loud as I checked the clock above the door, 10:45 p.m. I'm starting to think that maybe I imagined things or dreamed it.

I went to to thank again to the librarian and exited the library and went to my bedroom . As I reached my room, my father appeared in front of me. "What are you doing awake at such an hour?" he asked me curiously.

I gave him an exhausted smile, "Sorry Father, Im just tired after using the library ." I explained

he sighed as he placed a hand on my head, "Alright, You rest now, tomorrow will be much easier without you pushing yourself." He said reassuringly.

I gave out a smile,

He walked away, closing the door behind him. I walked into my room and laid back into my bed. Closing my eyes I fell asleep, hoping to dream of better times than this.
