A man meets his end, surrounded by family.
A curious child, much to the dismay of his mother, he grew up in wonder of the world around him. Wanting to learn, how the world worked. As energetic child, he would play with his friends in the park or on an inner street.
He was raised to be courteous and kind. Valuing effort and hard work over inherent talent.
As he grew older, and the world made more sense to him, he became disillusioned with the whole thing. Life seemed to be nothing but a series of unfortunate events. He loved, with all his heart he loved, and got nothing but pain for his selflessness.
"People are scum."
The eternal truth, came to him when he was passed over for opportunities simply because of the colour of skin.
But mama didn't raise no fool.
He persevered and made something of himself. He learned what really moves the world. Money.
"In this country, you gotta get the money first. When you get the money, you get the power. When you get the power, then you get the woman." The words struck something in his soul. Perhaps not the right message for a broken and jaded heart, but it's what kept him going.
Finding his calling on the trading floor, he made millions, in the time it took his parents to save $2000. He bought his mom a house. His dad got a 1969 Corvette, a car he'd wanted since he was a child looking at car magazines. He made sure his family would never want for anything. He did his duty as a son.
Money for all it's wonders, can't buy time.
A global pandemic hit. He cashed out big. Shorting and buying put options.
His millions could not prevent him from contracting the disease. A cough turned into a fever, having trouble breathing. He was admitted into hospital. His family came to see him. His parents and younger siblings took turns looking after him.
He used that time to make sure everything was in place for his family, if he died.
3 weeks later, he passed away. Making sure his family prospered.
