Chereads / My Zombie Game / Chapter 309 - Mental illness.

Chapter 309 - Mental illness.

Zombies are creatures raced as undead. This simply means they are dead people that still somehow are alive walking fine and well aside from the fact they now have a cannibalizing personality.

Everyone knows that the reason why zombies were still alive was that their brains are still active after all the other organs in the person's body was already dead.

For the brain to still be active, there has to be something keeping it alive, if not they would have died as well.

The only thing Nate could assume was keeping their brains alive was the zombie virus in them. If the virus was to be cured, then their brains will stop functioning putting an end to their lives.

"It makes sense why they will go into a hibernation state when there is no food to eat," Mark said as he understood what Nate was trying to point out.

"If the virus is the reason why our brain is still functioning, then it must also be the reason why our bodies are still flesh and is not rotten," Mark said.

"However, for the virus to keep acting, the flesh is needed, human flesh to be precise," Nate said.

In the end, Mark wouldn't want to take such a risk of injecting the vaccine into the zombie's head.

"Is there no other way you can think of?" Bull asked. He was still hoping that they can still save a lot of his men.

"There is one thing you are right about Mark... The zombie virus acts like a mental illness. Right now, I can only say the reason why they are crazy zombies is because of what the virus must have installed in their brains,"

"I'm not sure about this though. If the virus needs human flesh to survive, it means inside their brain, the virus might have made them think only about flesh and that's why a zombie can never be full with the amount of flesh they have," Nate explained.

Nate's explanation seems to make sense but what they were seeking is the solution, not the cause.

"So what do you think we should do?" Mark asked.

"I think if we can access their brain, maybe, we can rewrite things in their mind. Like make them not to take human flesh seriously as the virus must have set it in their mind," Nate suggested.

"You have a point there, but how are we going to access their mind without killing them?!" lyon asked.

It was at this moment Nate looked over towards Mark.

Seeing how that Nate was looking at him, Mark was wondering why till it eventually downed on him.

"The EEG headband...!!" Mark soon realized why Nate was looking at him.

"Shit...why didn't I think of this before...?!" Mark shouted as he quickly summoned a headband in his hand.

The headband looked similar to what general goo used to control the fantastic five zombies, but Mark has made a few amendments to the device.

After the fight with General Goo, the device ended up being destroyed, however, Nate used his system to collect the device blueprint.

When taking the blueprint, Nate was hoping Mark can build something similar to the device with the blueprint and just like he thought, Mark was able to recreate the device and even made it seem more potable than the one General Goo had on him back then.

Not only did Mark not recreate the device, but he also explained to Nate things that the device can do.

Initially, an EEG device was something that is usually used in a mental healthcare centre to check one's brain conditions and so on. However, as time passed, the device has also been programmed to be used in other things such as controlling a toy, robot or any other electric device with just one's thought.

The device was great. However, someone Mark nor Nate had no idea of have also upgraded what the device could control from an electric device to human beings and animals.

Surely, if such an upgrade was made before the apocalypse, the government would have banned such technology.

Regardless, there are numerous things one needs to do before the device can take over a human body. One is that there has to be a needle inserted into the person's head. This needle which is not inserted in the person's head will be like a receiver to the device.

When a command is sent, the needle will then pass it over to the brain to carry out the task.

The second thing that should be done before using the device is that the victim of the device will either be dead or unconscious for it to take control.

If one was to be conscious, their consciousness will naturally put up a fight against the commands and the majority of times the person's consciousness wins the fight.

Nevertheless, a function has also been built into the device that will send a wave of electricity to the victim's brain knocking him off if possible, this was the reason general goo was able to keep everyone in his base in check despite being weak physically.

Right now, what Mark was about to do is use the device the old faction way just as it was programmed.

With one eye Google covered one of his eyes, Mark inserted one of the device pine into the zombie's brain.

He was gentle to avoid damaging the zombie's brain. "Since the zombie is hibernating, there won't be any resistance, " Mark said as he started to work.

As the device connected to the zombie's mind, Mark start to send a few commands to the zombies simultaneously.

"Hold the other zombies, am about to feed this zombie, " Makr warned as he pulled out a chunk of meat and brought it before the zombie.

Instantly, the other zombies rushed in towards him but Bull, lyon and Nate were their stop them.

Meanwhile, the zombie being experimented on snatched the flesh out of Mark's hand and bite at them. In a flash, the meat was eaten by the zombie.

After this, the other zombies seems to have quiet, and Mark proceeded to see the results of their experiment.

"He's still under your control, disconnect the line!" Nate instructed and Mark did exactly that.

After that, they could now see that the zombie was moving and was no longer in a hibernation state any more.

"Petro...! Can you hear me can you speak now...?" Mark called out the man's name and asked.

The zombie looked Mark straight in the eye before replying.

"raogkei! raogkei.!!" unfortunately, all that came out from the man's mouth was a zombie groan as saliva poured out from its mouth.

"No...no...it failed," Bull fell on the ground, if possible right now he would have been crying.

Nate could only look at Bull and Mark and then at the zombie that was standing in one place.

He could clearly see that the two were deeply sad that the experiment failed. Nate couldn't have imagined if the others were here how the atmosphere could have been.

While Nate was staring at the zombie, although the experiment turned out to be a failure, however, there is something that Nate noticed.

'The zombie called Petro is not walking away...it even responded to Mark's question. I have seen this level of intelligence because Peter was one in this leave,' Nate thought.

'There has still had to be a way and I must find it,' Nate promised himself.
