Chereads / My Zombie Game / Chapter 274 - Military base.

Chapter 274 - Military base.

Honestly, Nate have seen what the military base looked like from the memories of those he eat their brain but it was not as clear as he was seeing it right now.

The military base was on an island. The island was short compared to that of forever winter land. It measures about two to three acres of land, at least that's what Nate thought.

The island doesn't have many trees on its surface, the sands were soft and tender like that of a beach. Looking further, Nate could see that on the island, a long bridge was channelled to a town nearby.

On the bridge, Nate could see loads of vehicles moving on them. He could see a long bus that was filled with survivors that were captured by the military troops that went out for scouting.

'Why are they gathering so many survivors? Is this their way of settling things?' Nate wanted to ask Knott but kept quiet.

Nate decided to observe the security defence of the base. When following the lines of the bridge to the base end, Nate could see the walls and watchtower that were built all around the edges of the island.

No doubt, Nate was sure that the whole island was encircled with walls and watchtowers. On each wall stationed a tankers with few other militants surrounding it while smoking and chatting.

Another thing Nate noticed was at outside of the base, sandbags were settled beside the walls with one or two men hiding behind them while covering themselves with a cloak that camouflages on the base sand.

'The security is quite right here, I doubt that even someone with an invisible ability won't be able to sneak into this base,' Nate thought to himself and recalled that he had seen similar tight security in forever winter island.

'They seem similar, the only difference is that there is no drone patrolling here and they also all seem to be on a high alarm,' Nate concluded.

With that, he was gently waiting for the chopper to land, but he found out that it kept going forward. It was at this point that Nate look ahead of them and could see a large thick wall that was bigger and thicker than the rest of the others.

'Something interesting must be on the other side,' Nate thought.

Soon, their chopper had flown over the wall and Nate could now see what was on the other side and couldn't help but trembled in shock and surprise.

On the other side that the sands were still visible and in fact everyone was, this place was different. Nate couldn't help but wonder if they were in an airport or something of that sort.

The grounds were tidied cole tar and there was more land space that might be over the one on the other side. The road was tidied and like that of an aeroplane runway but there was no plane visible.

That was what Nate thought till he heard a loud noise coming from the side of the chopper. To his surprise, it was three jet fighter planes that just flew over them in a flash.

He wasn't able to see it at first but when looking back from his window, he could the three jet fighters that have the badge of the military base painted on them along with the country's military colour.

'This is crazy, did I just offend a base like this, how the fuck am I supposed to defend my territory if the military were to decide to attack with this,' Nate panicked at the thought of an attack from a jet fighter. He wasn't sure he could guarantee his safety if such a thing was to happen.

Regardless, the panic attack only lasted for a second for Nate to calm down again, however, Nate's one second of panic didn't go unnoticed by Knott as he smiled.

"What?! Are you afraid to confront the general?" Knott asked smiling.

It was already part of Nate's plans to avoid getting into a discussion with anyone not to mention Knott who seems like having a deep feuwithor each other.

Not getting any reply from Zak, Knott was not hurt rather, he felt better than usual. "He even continued to bluff as he led his men into a gang-running base and conquered it without losing any of his men and even bragged about having faced a beast alone on the way.

Normally, Knott was doing all this expecting to see some changes in zak face but the letters facial expressions remained the same not showing any sign of anger or anything.

Seeing all this happen Knott thought maybe he have gone too far in mocking Zak and decided to cheer him up.

With a long sigh, Knott pointed out through the helicopter window. "You know Zak, the truth is that we all are losers. We have failed our people, the people we were meant to serve, we have failed them," Knott said.

"When this apocalypse started, the truth is that we the army of the nation could have done something about this. Even if we managed not to prevent the virus from spreading but I believe that we could have done something at least to save more lives of those who died because of our inability to do our job,"

At this point, although Nate wasn't saying anything nor was he planning to say anything, his ears in the end were not blocked and he could hear what Knott was saying and listened attentively.

"As if that was not enough, we have back to a journey where we now go around capturing those who managed to survive all this and now teleporting them to a place we all knew was a curse, as for what their fate will be, I don't know, we don't know but one thing is for sure, where they are being sent to is a place they will suffer," Knott said.

He then pointed out a long cargo ship far in the distance away from the island.

"That ship...it might look like a cargo ship but it's been used in shipping all the survivors who were captured to their final destination. A place that will decide whether they will leave or not," Knott explained. "We indeed failed our people," he exclaimed before keeping quiet as if he was thinking of something.

As much as Nate did not want to look at the ship Knott pointed out but he couldn't help but glance at it in observation.

Looking at the cargo ship, Nate noticed that it was heading out instead of coming towards the base. Another thing he noticed was that there are no goods containers on it other than a few military weapons such as cannon shooters and a few other more. 'They all must have been stuffed inside the ship,' Nate thought.

Nate wanted to ask Knott where the ship was heading but declined the thought. 'Since Zak is a high-ranked member of this base, he is expected to know this information so if he suddenly starts to ask naively ask questions like this, it will raise a suspicious gaze,' Nate thought to himself and maintained his composer.

Soon, the chopper found a place to land and it was time for Nate to meet the general commander of this base.

Meanwhile, inside the cargo ship, six people were currently inside a dark and stuffy room with only one window hole that allows a small ray of light into the room.

"Damn this mission, why must we go through this for the sake of some stupid mission," Speed shouted as he wipe off the sweat running down his face. His clothes were wet with his sweat.

"We have to endure, it's part of our punishment after all, at least this is better than what the high-ups initially would have done to us," Cain exclaimed.

These were the zombie hunters that the matrix have newly joined and for some reason, they found themselves in a condition like this.

"You guys should remember that we are not here because we could not defend ourselves but rather because this is our only free ticket means to reach our destination," Tel explained before looking at Kai and Chris.

Meanwhile, Chris clenched his four fists together, his bones could be heard cracking while doing this. Whereas, Kai also clenched his fist as he blamed one person for the condition he was in right now.

'Nate...I've never wanted to kill you than ever,' he gnashed his teeth together.
