Mark has already made it clear to the others that the mothership was still under construction, however, he was not precise on what exactly was still missing and are yet to be fixed into the bus. Meanwhile, they also could not guess because to them, the bus was already super cool and they could not think of what else Mark was planning to add.
It's not up to them to worry about that, after all, they are not the boss here however, Nate knowing the responsibility of the title of a leader he now holds, wants to know more about the bus that was created by Jim and Mark.
First, were how Jim and Mark able to create such a super machine in less than a week? It might look easy to build if considered as they were told by Mark and Jim but Nate of all people know it was not even close to that.
Melting the solid steel alone won't be easy, even bending the steel into the ideal shape won't be easy, but Jim somehow managed to fasten the process and what would have taken weeks or even months to build was built in the space of five days.
If it was back in the days when things were still normal and such accomplishment was done, surely it will add to the world records. Too bad things were now in a different way and culture.
It took Mark and Jim five periods of sleep night to reconstruct the former military-long bus into something new. Luckily for them, sleeping is no longer necessary to them. Mark is a zombie that can not sleep even if they want to, most of the time, they use just lies on the ground while pretending to be asleep. Though, this is a good thing for him because since he can not sleep or feel tired, it means that he has more time to work on his projects and more.
Meanwhile, Jim's case seems to be different and yet similar to theirs. Unlike Lyon who still has a scent with him but zombies seem not to be pleased with the smell and would always ignore him. However, Jim has the smell of a normal human being but at some points he losses them and would have the rough smell of iron. He and Nate could only agree on one conclusion most likely, Jim was a machine.
Jim does get tired after the long work but he only needs to take out a bottle filled with red liquid and gulp it down.
This red liquid is the blood of a different beast he and the others had killed. While Lyon was more focused on the crystals inside a beast Jim was more focused on the drops of blood of the beasts both zombie or mutated animals. When he was initiated by Nate, his source of energy was through fuel was altered into the blood of all kinds of creatures and he has a lot of them, that's even why he was so excited when he discovered the inventory.
Meanwhile, Mark was done explaining the reason he had kept the other rooms a secret. "Did Jim also know about this?" He asked but Mark's answer was no.
"I was the one that did all the inside job, Jim was more focused on the outside" Mark replied.
After hearing the explanation, Nate could not find himself being angry at Mark and he could only sigh as he also stepped to close the door. This of course was through the help of the system.
Mark was stunned at how Nate was able to operate the bus system, Mark was the only person that had the access to this particular room so it also made him wonder how Nate was even able to know that there was a hidden room. Little did he know that Nate now have total control over the bus and its functions.
After the door close and even looking at it, one will never know that it is a door that leads to another room.
Nate did not walk back up, instead, he went and sat down on the driver sit while tilting his body as if he was trying to get some sleep. Meanwhile, Mark did not leave and also went and sat on the opposite sit by side.
"Is it not unfair?" Mark suddenly said after a minute of silence. Nate's eyes opened and he looked at him.
"What do you mean?" He frowned.
"We told you all about us, our lives, our favourite food before we turned into zombies and so many more but all you told us about you though seems to be true, but yet it doesn't make any sense," Mark said. Now that the others are not with them, Mark was hoping Nate might open up to him.
"I still don't understand you," Nate said with a frown on his face getting bigger.
"Okay, let me start, what makes you different from us? You seem to have known a few things about apocalypse stuff before us and also had a great knowledge on how to survive in a case like this" Mark listed however, he still has more to say but was interrupted by Nate.
"I told you guys I'm someone that loves playing games and not just any game but apocalypse game. That's where I got all the experience" Nate answered nonchalantly.
"Will that also explain how you were able to control large groups of zombies at once or even force strong beasts to blow themselves up?" Mark did not back off however, he was also talking politely to avoid Nate mistakenly snapping at him.
Nate seems to be out of words and he took a deep breath while closing his eye leaving Mark with no reply.
"The truth is that I also don't understand, this was all meant to be a game but it turned out to be something else, something different from a game but I can't put my finger on where it all started to change" Nate was muttering but Mark was able to hear him due to his enhanced hearing.
He also could tell that Nate was about to say something when the latter suddenly got up. "Now you mentioned it and I have also thought about it, this whole thing does not make any sense to me," he said. "Have you ever played a virtual reality game before? Does its graphics look so natural that one might miss take them as the real world?" Nate asked but all he got was Mark looking at him oddly.
'I have also forgotten that this whole thing is just a game, and all my horde members are just programs that were great by someone else,' Nate thought when seeing the confused expression on Mark's face...
Once again, Nate was still having the thought that he was inside a game, the question now is who will snap those thoughts out of his head and welcome him back to reality.
