Chereads / My Zombie Game / Chapter 48 - Boost.

Chapter 48 - Boost.

After picking up V, Nate headed to the downside of the road where he saw Ron was sent to with the swipe of the monkey tail.

The moment the monkey appeared, it was looking in a particular direction before Mini Cry was able to get his attention. At that moment, Nate knew that something must be at this particular place that's why he was heading there.

As for V that he was taking with him, Nate's intention at first was just to ignore the fight, and maybe when the beast killed all of them, he could take the alien spear for himself.

But that changed when he heard Mini cry. The thirteen-year-old girl's cry had snapped back a memory of Nate.

That was how he felt when he was also her age when her mother had to go through hell just for them, and how he used to cry out back then.

This was not the memory he had gotten from the game, but one he had when he had his real body.

They were also this mentality that Nate had developed, which had led him to always think that all the other "Fathers" out there were the same as his father, but seeing Mini's tears, that did not look like someone who wished father her death.

This made me have second thoughts about how fathers are.

It wasn't a problem for Nate to carry V behind him while running at the same time, instead, he was moving faster than he had ever moved.

The spear on his could not stop glowing in the usual blue light as it gave Nate more boost.

Even with that, Nate still has something to pay for the boost.

[-5Hp]

[85/120 HP]

The weapon was taking his health points in return for the boost.

This was an example of the same thing that had happened to V when using the spear. It kind of depletes someone's energy after using it.

In Nate's case, he can't get tired, but it still took his health points.

But anytime Nate looks at the boost he is getting, he always feels like it is worth it. After all, all he needs is to take a steak of flesh and his health will be back, or even use his energy bar to get back to normal.

[Strength = 11+⁴]

[Agility = 11+⁴]

[Endurance = 5+⁴]

[Intelligence = 2+⁴]

It was strange to Nate how it was all raised to power four that we're all added to his attributes, but the results were great.

It did not take long for Nate to catch up to Ron even before the latter could touch the ground.

Boom...!

Unfortunately, having been sent flying by a great force, Ron's density was too high and Nate could not even catch the guy without them all falling.

V roughly slipped out of Nate's hand and rolled on the ground.

There was a sound of a groan from him but he was not yet up, meanwhile, Ron was successfully saved from landing with his head, if not, that would be his death straight away.

Nate quickly took him to the side of the road.

While doing this, he failed to notice the creature that was standing behind him.

A kick was sent to Nate's abdomen, ending his flying to the opposite side of the road.

His body eventually hit his back on the wall, spreading cracks on the surface.

[-10Hp]

But this was not enough to knock Nate out, because he picked himself up and jumped sideways, in time before the long gigantic leg slammed onto the wall behind, climbing it that instant.

Nate had jumped sideways and had to retreat a few meters away from the creature.

It was then that he was able to get a full picture of the creature.

It was a green exoskeleton skin, with six long legs. Its head was round like a football, with two eyes and three pairs of mouths demarcated into three. The back top of the creature, exoskeleton skin unfolds with a fast-winding wing sprinting out fast.

Soon, the creature was above Nate hovering in the air with its mouth wide open as a green substance started to gather around it.

'Is this a praying mantis'

Nate was right, the beast in front of him was of course a praying mantis.

Not trusting his guess, Nate used one of the skills he had not used since he got it.

[Inspector]

[Mutant insect]

[Type = praying mantis]

[Health= not bad]

[Size = 8 feet]

[Skill = toxic acidic spite]

[Toxic is what the host won't have to worry about, but the acidic spite]

Seeing this, Nate was waiting for another special message to appear before he would decide what to do. And not long after, it appeared.

[Host quest]

[Kill or initiate the praying mantis]

[Note: The host must complete this mission alone, feeling to do so will reduce the amount of reward]

[Reward =???]

'What I care though is you better have a crystal in you'

Saying that Nate pointed out the spear at the mantis, and at that same time was when the mantis also shit out a green acidic liquid spite that clashed head-on with the spear laser.

Boom...!

The acidic spite was like a flame as it came crashing into the laser, and spread away.

Seeing this, Nate did not panic but was even more excited.

Meanwhile, the acidic spite came in the form of a ball while the laser was like a pointer flash that kept going forward even after clashing with the acidic ball.

It went up to the mantis which was still in the sky.

But the beast insect was able to evade, thankful, due to its wings not carrying it again.

"From the inspector, it says that its health was not bad, but did not rate it good," Nate thought while running towards the mantis who was now on the ground.

'This means, it might not be as strong as it was before ' with that thought mind.

Once again, the spear lit up, as the laser beam shut out from the tip.

This time, Nate was not cutting it off but was keeping it steady even though it was taking something in return.

[-5Hp]

[-10Hp]...

His health points started to go down, but he did not care about that and pointed the spear at the praying mantis.

The praying mantis on its own gathered the acidic spite again, but Nate had to shoot at the mouth just before it could be shut out.

Not only that, he starts to aim at the back wing, as they are trying to flip again.

Shooting it down, Nate used the increase in his speed which was far greater than that of Peter at this moment, to reach out for the mantis.

Seeing that Nate was coming for him, the mantis tried using its leg to kick out Nate, but the latter was aware this time, as he switched from side to side while aiming at the legs of the mantis.

Another spite was ready to be spat again, but Nate shot out the laser that traveled to the mantis' mouth before it could shoot out the spite.

'You better have a great immunity to your toxic acidic spite' thought Nate.

Boom...!

A violent wave hit Nate pushing him backward, but he stabbed the spear into the ground just before he could be sent flying.

"In the end, I still killed you" muttered Nate.

[Congratulations, you have killed a mutated praying mantis]

[Your reward =...]
