Another day, another problem solved.
...Except he had probably only solved one problem that was most likely incredibly minor to the original plot, and he had been in this world for a few days already.
In fact, apart from the obvious twins, George, Angelica and Yumi, he hadn't seemed to have met any of the other male leads yet?
Well, he shrugged that thought off, thinking that there was no point in him pursuing them when he had more important things to do, not to mention he hadn't really planned on getting involved with them in the first place.
So he set his mind on thinking about what had been bothering him since his stay in the little medical room - the magic from the Orcus.
And no, he hadn't forgotten about how he needed to enhance his senses and practice the flow of Qi, and how to manipulate it, but he was a man of procrastination, and only was going to do something completely new when the circumstances explained that it was the only choice.
And so he sat there, basking in the complete and utter silence of the car in his thinking mode, not noticing George's constant, hesitant glances his way.
They seemed to have kept the silence up all the way home, because Leige blinked himself out of it when the car stopped moving for a while.
He muttered a quick thank you to George, who was being a lot quieter than usual, and left the car eagerly, wanting to get to the library as soon as possible.
Passing by the workers in the house, who were still as defensive in front of him as they were before, there was a thought that run through his mind - Right, didn't Angelica work here?
Well, since he had only seen her one morning, he just assumed that she only worked here on certain days. Since she had been here this morning, he wondered if she would be here now.
Maybe if he was super duper extra nice about it, she could demonstrate her magic in front of him and he could study it closer, when he wasn't the one who was about to be blasted to pieces.
After he finished reading about possible reincarnation and magic, then he would go onto his Qi practicing, and then he could maybe perhaps if he was really really nice then they could spar together once he got better.
As he finally reached the two large, majestic doors, he wasted no time in opening them and hurrying in.
He had a lot to do tonight.
Already a little more familiar with the layout of the library than the last times, he headed straight to the what he called 'dusty dusty no one come here' section in which he had found the information about Qi.
Obviously, the large library was well-maintained, and most shelves were so shiny with polish that spiders would feel guilty about spinning their webs, no matter how beautiful the webs would turn out to be.
However, there was one section that was a little hidden and would only be accessed if you bothered to walk past all of the much more appealing bookshelves, dusty with webs and dead bugs stuck in them galore.
Leige hadn't cared about this however, and had only thought the books he needed would be here because it was typical of a game to have all of the actual useful information on the shelf that looked most inconspicuous.
And of course, he was right, because Leige was smart and Leige was cool and Leige was cute.
Since he was more familiar with using the web to browse the books he needed, using the library was rather inefficient, so he just decided to do what he did when he wasn't exactly sure how to get what he wanted quickly:
He made a mess.
Since no one really came down this far in the library, and no one cleaned this shelf that was in a neat little corner next to a large window where he could sit down with the evening sun warming his back and tinging his hair with gold, he assumed no one would care if he made a complete mess.
Well, maybe the old Leige liked to throw tantrums and throw things, or at least he thought it was certainly tangible.
So, without any worries, he began sweeping out the bookshelves so that once he got them all lined up on the floor he could look at all of the titles at once and continously choose things, like a catalogue but in real life and on the floor.
As a fully grown adult, he found it a little embarrassing to admit how much he enjoyed making the tiny bit of chaos of gently sweeping row by row of books on the shelf a lot smaller than the others onto the floor with only the care of not damaging the books.
It was rather nice, he decided in the face of the evening sun, to throw some books around with no rush or hurry, simply in the calm, gentle rays of sun and the mahogany turned golden walls of the spacious library.
It was so fun in fact that he jumped a little in his own way of showing excitement while finishing, taking the last books off of the top shelf.
Clapping his hands to get the dust off, he congratulated himself on a job well done and some fun in the peace of the library before he would have to start working.
"...Leige-sama?" the now familiar, slightly haughty yet a lot softer than before voice made Leige flinch a little.
....Did Angelica genuinely see him jumping around while sweeping books off of a dusty shelf in the isolated part of the library?
In a rare moment of embarrassment, he turned around to see Angelica looking a little strangely at him.
Angelica herself was utterly bemused by the sight of which she just saw.
There was no animosity in her gaze, as she had composed herself already and was now a little bit more open to accept that there was a possibility that she could actually make some friends, no less with the little shit she used to despise.
But... she felt like her world view had just done a backflip, but failed and landed on its head and then got hit by a brick and then run over by a bus so that it got a concussion and nothing was in its place.
She had been entering the library, as it was part of her job to clean it on the days she was in, and she had heard multiple thumping sounds from the back of the library.
Although there was little to no reason that an intruder would be here, as a maid of the Valentine House, she had gotten her magic ready so that she could attack at any time, and the little button hidden in her blouse that would allow her to call for help if the intruder was stronger than her was all ready.
However, if hadn't been an intruder, and it was just Leige.
...Just Leige.
Hold on, why was Leige even in the library?!
No no no, why was Leige hopping around like a little bunny while contentedly sweeping off rows of dusty books from a shelf?!
This wasn't one of his tantrums, because it was rather quiet and he was otherwise looking very relaxed, so what was it?!
Please don't mess up the pretty shelves, I spent so much time and effort polishing them! She prayed in her head, thoughts running more than a hundred miles an hour.
"Angelica." he turned back around, unwilling to accept that he had been caught doing something so embarrassing. "Just call me Leige." he muttered, defeated.
She paused. Leige? Not Leige-sama? As in, names without honorifics? Like friends did?!
She blinked rapidly.
"L-Leige.....Leige.." she muttered quietly to herself, before looking up in a fluster.
"Leige..." her face quickly became back to normal though, if not a little bemused, "can I ask you... What you were doing?"
He stared at her, deciding the only way to get over this hurdle of a new emotion called embarrassment was to completely forget that anything had ever happened.
"Come and organise my books with me Angelica." and forget anything ever.
Leige nodded at his genius and efficient plan, regained his composure, and no longer waited for Angelica as he sat down again and began to organise the books, laying them out flat on the ground next to each other in equal rows.
Again, her world view that already had a concussion decided that wasn't enough and attempted a dizzy front flip from the hospital bed, got smacked by a guardian angel and was sent into orbit.
Leige...wanted her... to organise books with him?
Leige...could read?
She felt like all of the days she had missed the one new piece of information she was supposed to learn all came crashing down on her.
However, she had felt lonely in this library that seemed way too spacious for only a small team of people to clean, especially as her shifts had always been at a different time to other people.
Maybe if Leige started reading here, then she could have some company while she cleaned.
She smiled to herself, and then quickly composed herself because she hadn't been through sixteen years of life only to falter in a moment of extreme shock, and exclaimed in her usual haughty voice.
"Well I suppose, if you really want me to, I can help you." Leige just nodded at her, handing her an armful of books to start laying out.
And so there they both sat, through the evening, sorting out books, with Leige doing what he thought was subtly but really wasn't subtle at all - selecting and putting books related to the underworld, Jusjurandum, or with any kind of promise or something Roman or Greek mythology related into a little pile by his side.
They were so absorbed, in fact, that Leige never noticed that George never called him to dinner.
