The night sank deeper and deeper into a sea of darkness while a figure swam forth within the shadows.
This shadowed figure was Xiao LingYue who jade just made his escape from the Bing Residence.
He was astonished to hear the details about the Cloud Chasing Sect and the 7-Souls Peony, but currently, he needed a place to rest and cultivate.
As he made his way to the lodging district where most of the inns resided, his vigilance rose as a familiar stench assaulted his nose.
The stench of blood lingered in the air as it wafted around the city, which only made him more pressured to find shelter rather than stay in the open.
As for where the origin of the stench came from; he rather not know.
The idea of being caught in another problematic situation caused him to withdraw his aura as he noticed the city falling silent.
The silence fell abruptly across the city as an eerie chill crept over as if to remove any semblance of a bustling and once-warm atmosphere.
His eyes narrowed as he felt the chill submerging him, hastening his search.
Time continued like fleeting clouds as he finally saw an Inn still open, its lanterns like a beacon within the darkness as he quickly made his way over.
Upon reaching the door a shadow the size of a person could be seen flying out of the door as they tumbled haphazardly before coming to a stop a short distance before him.
He looked toward the person who had been thrown outside as his eyebrow raised then his eyes narrowed.
The person who was thrown out was wearing a similar robe, which meant they were a disciple of the Blood Gate Cult's Carefree Valley.
Xiao Lingyue couldn't care less what happened to the disciples of the Blood Gate Cult seeing that he left the Cult using another disciple's identity, especially given that the disciple in question already had grass growing on his grave.
Lingyue turned to leave as six disciples of The Cloud Chasing Sect rushed to surround him while their faces all had sinister sneers.
"Where do you think you are going?"
"One Gates trash dies and another arrives, they are truly like roaches. Ha!"
Xiao Lingyue looked at the disciples surrounding him as he finally opened his mouth and sighed.
"Get out of the way if you want to live. . ." His voice was so sharp you could chop nails with it as his baleful blade-like aura roared around him.
The disciples all noticed the baleful qi mixed into his sharpening aura as one female disciple shouted, " None of you Blood Gate Cult disciples are good people, we shall do the heavens a favour by slaying all these evil sect disciples!"
Another male disciple looked at the three storage pouches on Lingyue's waist as his eyes gleamed dangerously.
He shouted like he was filled with indignance, " Those storage pouches must have been robbed! How vile!"
Xiao Lingyue frowned as he swept his gaze at the six disciples as he took the Humble DayDream blade from within his storage pouch.
His hand slowly drew the blade as his aura surged within the night as his blade howled and screeched breaking the city's silence.
"I've told you before, I won't say it again"
Xiao Lingyue's yin yang robes billowed without wind as his Meridian Opening Aura flared.
His twelve meridians which were nourished to completion had grown in over a fold as they lit up within him like blood-red stars in the expanse of an otherwise starless night.
Strands of Spiritual Qi rushed through his body like a wild galloping horse while his neidan began to spin furiously as the shadow of a Demonic Nine-Tailed ivory-coloured fox towered behind him, its tails flourishing towards the sky.
The disciples felt the oppressive strength of this disciple which was leagues above the one they just killed.
The similar thought going through their mind. . .
'Isn't the Carefree Valley one of the weakest in battle strength?'
The disciples all converged to combat the sudden surge of strength from Xiao Lingyue as the strongest currently within their group only had 9 Meridians Opened so far and they were not even fully nourished, leaving him far below Lingyue in battle prowess.
"Where'd this monster come from??" A disciple at the forefront gasped as the surging Baleful Qi and Blood Qi buffeted his face.
He was Li Jihai an in-name disciple of one of the outer sect elders of the Cloud Chasing Sect.
His hair blew behind him as the crown which tied his hair was flung to the wind and his thoughts raced.
'We kicked a metal board! Where is Senior Qiang!? '
His eyes shifted left and right towards either side of the street.
A malicious glint passed through his eyes as he shouted.
"Let's attack with the five-man Soaring Cloud Array!! "
"I'll buy you some time!"
The other five were stunned as he rushed forwards while they haphazardly got into a 5-Elements circular formation to surround Lingyue.
Xiao Lingyue raised his blade as it clashed with the sword of Li Jihai.
Xiao Lingyue's eyes couldn't help but narrow once he noticed it felt like hitting a ball of cotton.
Li Jihai screamed tragically as he was struck flying while he spat mouthful after mouthful of blood.
His body was covered in blood as he lay lifeless near the far end of the street.
The other disciples saw this as their eyes turned bloodshot, their rage palpable as they soared through the air, their five swords stabbing towards Lingyue!
The clash of blades between him and that one disciple felt uncomfortable as he knew he hadn't put much force in his blade, especially not to cause such serious internal injuries.
The more he thought of it, the more he felt he was deceived and the more annoyed he became.
Now seeing these five attacking him he no longer held back as he lifted his blade into the [ Smiling Spectre Stance].
Xiao Lingyue's body was pierced multiple times as the looks on the faces of the Cloud Chasing Sect became ecstatic.
[ Beguiling Ghost Blade 1st Movement: Ghostly Deception]
The pierced body slowly faded away like a ghostly spectre within the night while a beautiful gleam of white light was painted on the black canvas which was the night.
A male disciple's face was filled with shock as he touched his neck gingerly to which his fingertips were coated in a wet substance.
He looked at the blood on his fingertips as his eyes looked towards his sect mates.
His head slowly turned as it slid off his shoulders. . .
Ssspppuurrttt!!!
His blood sprayed into the air as it rained down soaking the robes of the disciples around him. . .
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
