The sun breaking out of its shell and giving the signs of a bright morning, but it was already a disturbing day for Samara, especially when she kept her head occupied with so many thoughts flowing throughout the night.
First, it was the horrible dream she had, and then Jake's thought was drifting into her head.
She brushed it off and decided to ignore him, that was her plan. To act like he wasn't existing, maybe she could get to stop crushing on him.
It was Monday and their usual classes day. Everyone was supposed to be in the hall by 8am, but it would get to a time when the Juniors have to move into another hall.
Bella had woken up and noticed Samara awake already, but she doesn't look like someone ready to get up from the bed. "Hey! I will have to get dressed and leave you behind. Why are you still lying down?" Bella asked and placed her hand on her waist while staring at Samara, who slowly turned to face her.
"I don't feel well, can you please make an excuse for me?" Samara inquired, but Bella didn't say a word. "Forget it!" Samara muttered and stood on her feet while searching for her floppy slipper.
After an hour, they were out already and headed for the hall. The surroundings were quiet and Samara
felt most of the student were already inside the hall.
She marched in alongside Bella and found a place and sat down. Just then, Mr Daniel walked in with a book in his hand.
"Good morning. I hope you slept well last night. Without going around in circles, can someone remind me where we stopped in our last class?" Mr Daniel asked and roamed his eyes around.
Samara narrowed her eyes to Bella. "What's the class all about, huh?" She inquired curiously.
"The basic thing you learn in school and, of course, some important things partaking how to use magic and when." Bella whispered and Samara nodded.
"I had a bad dream last night, and it still makes my body cringe with just the thought of it." Samara mumbled with a worried face, her voice cracking.
"What was it about?" Bella questioned and looked at Samara, who took a deep breath.
Suddenly, Samara heard her name being called, and she flinched on her seat. She sprang on her feet while staring at the door, and she sighted Master Louis and Jake standing together.
"Mr Daniel! I would like to see Miss Samara right now." Master Louis ordered, and her heart skipped. What has she done today?
She tried to crack her brain if she had done something which was against the school rules, but nothing was popping inside her head. Samara dragged her legs to where he was standing.
"Hey!" She heard Jake whispered in a casual tone, but she acted like he was invisible.
"Master Louis, did I do something wrong? Because you're scaring me right now, and I have like a million question in my head." Samara mumbled and took a deep breath.
"I thought we agreed that you have to start taking care of the sacred room. I met Jake cleaning the room earlier. Are you slacking already?" Master L asked in a strict tone, and she shook her head instantly.
She spare Jake a stare before averting her eyes to Master L. "I'm sorry I totally forgot, I guess I have to keep it at the back of my mind. It wasn't my fault actually, I had trouble sleeping last night." She confessed and lowered her gaze.
"Why?" Jake and Master Louis chorused at the same time, and she raised her head to look at them.
"Oh! Well…" She stammered, but Master Louis chipped in.
"Let's talk outside, or better still. Jake and I wanted to get some foodstuffs, I guess we have to go together. Then you can tell me why you had trouble sleeping."
"Huh? Together?" Samara asked with a blank expression.
"Do I make you uncomfortable?" Jake question while staring keenly at her, and she resisted the urge to scoff.
"What time are we going?" Samara inquired and folded her hands.
"Now. We were about leaving, and I decided to have a word with you first. Let's go!" He voiced out and began to walk out of the hall, while they followed behind him.
Samara and Jake hopped into the Van, but heard someone yelling Jake's name and Master Louis switch off the engine.
"What do you want, Nita?" Master Louis queried and stepped down from the van, while she placed her hands in her knee and tried to catch her breath.
"Where are you guys going without me, huh? I'm supposed to be part of the trip, but I'm being left out now because we have a new leader? She isn't the head yet." Nita fired and Samara could sense jealousy from her words.
"We are not traveling, we will be back in an hour or so. Bye!" Master Louis informed her and hopped into the van before he drove off.
There was a brief silence in the van while the image of when she was being capture and thrown into it flashed through her head and she tried to shrug it off. If only they knew how frightened she was that day.
Jake tapped her slightly on the shoulder, and she opened her eyes. "Master Louis was asking you a question."
"Samara, what was the cause of your sleepless night, huh?" Master Louis was curious, he wanted to know what it was.
Jake can sense danger before something bad happened, his gift is the ability of vision. He could feel it and whenever he discusses any dream or vision, Master Louis always takes his words serious. Because that thing might turn to reality.
"I had a bad dream. It felt so real, and I thought I wouldn't be able to see the light of the day. The sky was red, and it rained blood, then I noticed everyone panicking, and it was at that point I woke up." She said barely above a whisper.
"Jake! What can you say about it? Have you felt any eerie feelings lately?" Master Louis questioned, and he shook his head before speaking out loud.
"I haven't, I guess it is just a dream." He replied, and they all went mute.
Master Louis took an unfamiliar road, and they popped out through a place that looked like a village. The place was a remote area and Master L parked by the side.
"I thought we were supposed to go to the city, where is this place?" Samara inquired while glancing around the place.
"I can't remember the name, but I know this spot. Master Louis always gets foodstuffs from a man whenever he doesn't feel like going inside the city." Jake informed her and stood close to Samara.
She muttered an "oh" and rested her eyes at the direction master Louis was heading, and suddenly, an elderly man came out through a narrow passage and shook hands with Master Louis.
Her intense gaze on him while she watched his every move. Master Louis followed the man into an unfamiliar house and the came out holding two wrapped cartons.
By the way, the man was holding it, it seemed heavy. "Hey! You two, grab this and take it to the van." Master Louis commanded loudly, and they rushed to carry the other carton from him.
"Jeez! What's inside, huh? Why is it so heavy?" Samara questioned no one in particular before pulling it together with Jake.
They kept it inside the van and went to get the second one, while Master Louis stayed behind to talk to the man.
"Where do you actually come from? Do you stay close by? Any neighborhood close?" Jake inquired out of the blues, and Samara was a bit surprised.
"Honestly, I can't find my way home if I'm asked to leave. Everywhere seemed strange to me after I left the orphanage. That was my home." Samara whispered and stared at her feet.
"I see. I stayed at an orphanage too." Jake uttered and she flicked her eyes to him.
"Really?" She asked quickly like it was exciting news. She was just happy they shared the same experience.
"Yeah, I stayed at the orphanage while growing up. Not until master Louis came and took me away from the place. It was hard for me to get comfortable with my new environment." Jake muttered sincerely and Samara liked the fact that they had things in common, and he was free discussing it with her.
"I hope you dropped the two in the van, so we can leave on time!" Master Louis adjured them, and they moved each of the cartons one after the other.
They sat silently inside the van and Samara was tempted to ask him about his relationship with Nita, but she shut her mouth.
What if she ruins the mood, huh? She was going to mind her business, especially when Jake was the one trying to make the conversation.
But will all that change once they step into the school? Would he act like he doesn't know her? She thought sadly and rested her back while the van began to move.
