Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

My name's Emanie" the green eyed guy said to Alexis as they walked down the hall in the senior complex "but most people call me Cavalero" he added

"Why?" Alexis asked turning to face him. She had to raise her head a bit because he was taller than she was, like extremely obvious height difference.

"It's my last name" he replied "and it has a nice ring to it you know" he added

"Yeah kinda" she said. "How did you find out I was in the wrong class?" She asked

"I'm pretty sure I know all my course mates" he replied "plus, I know you're a freshman" he shrugged

"How?" She asked curiously.

"Yesterday " he began "I could tell by the way you were staring at me that you had never seen me before"he said and Alexis cheeks grew red. She thought he didn't recognize her. "and that's practically impossible except you're a freshman" he added with pride.

'popular guy? Ok' she thought

"Yeah, about last night..." She began scratching the back of her head. She was trying to put together an explanation that actually made sense, anything that would convince Emanie she wasn't actually drooling over him.

"You don't have to explain, I understand" Emanie said cutting her short

"I wasn't staring at you" she shot back

'that was dumb' she heard that voice inside her head say.

"Oh, of course you weren't" Emanie replied sarcastically "definitely wasn't staring" he added in a lower tone looking straight ahead.

By this time, they were already outside the senior complex.

"I'm serious" Alexis said defending herself.

"Of course you are" Emanie shrugged. Yeah he wasn't arguing but Alexis knew he thought otherwise.

"I was just..." Alexis began. She had already come up with the perfect lie in her head but before she even got the chance to say it, Emanie walked ahead of her about three feet and turned back to face her.

He slipped his hands into his pockets and just began to stare straight into Alexis' eyes.

"What?" She asked immediately. The eye contact was killing her and she was trying her best not to get lost in his eyes again.

Emanie didn't respond he just took two steps forward without breaking eye contact.

"What?" Alexis asked again taking a step backwards, now getting very uncomfortable. "Why are you staring at me?" She questioned

"Oh I'm sorry was that staring?" Emanie asked finally turning away from her. "I had no idea" he added again with the sarcasm.

It was killing Alexis.

'oh I see what he did there' she thought

"Well..." Alexis began again. She wasn't giving up so easily.

"Alexis" she heard that familiar masculine voice call her. She didn't see Emanie's lips move so...

"Amarr" she said with a smile as she turned her head to face him. He was now standing in front of her and she didn't even see him coming.

He wore a pair of black pants and a white round necked shirt. Something was written on his shirt but it was in Italian so of course Alexis couldn't comprehend it. He wore a pair of white sneakers and a pair of silver cross earrings.

He had his ears pierced. That was something Alexis didn't notice the day before.

"Where did you pop out from?" She asked him.

"Saw you from a distance" he replied shifting his eyes to look at Emanie and then back at Alexis "shouldn't you be in class?" He asked

"Yeah, I went into the wrong complex but Emanie is helping me find my way now" she replied

"Cool" Amarr began and he turned to Emanie "that's so nice of you" he said to him but it didn't looked like he really meant the words

"Yeah..." Emanie was saying

"Why not head back to class Cavalero, I'll help Alexis find her way" he said cutting him off.

The air suddenly felt so tense. There was a short silence as the two guys glared at each other. You could see the hatred in their eyes. It wasn't that obvious but looking closely you could see Amarr was taller than Emanie like about four inches.

Alexis felt so awkward, she had no idea what was going on.

"You wouldn't have a problem with that would you?" Amarr questioned putting an end to the awkward silence.

"Of course not" Emanie replied with gritted teeth and he turned to Alexis "see you some other time" he said before he finally turned away.

"Or not" Amarr said before Alexis could even reply and Emanie turned back to glare at him. "Let's go Alexis" he said to Alexis paying no attention to Emanie.

Amarr began to walk away and Alexis followed by his side.

"That was the guy from the party" She said after about thirty minutes of silence

"Yeah, I know" Amarr replied

"I thought you said you didn't know him personally" She said

"Yeah, I don't" he replied bluntly

"Then what the heck was that?" Alexis questioned stopping to face him.

"What?" Amarr shot back.

"Oh jeez" Alexis sighed hitting her palm on her fore head.

Amarr just kept walking and of course Alexis had no other choice but to follow.

"I have nothing against Emanie" he began after about another thirty minutes of silence "it's just that guys around here are pretty much shit" he continued "you don't wanna fuck around with just anybody, especially seniors" he added

"Emanie seems like a..." Alexis was saying

"Good guy?" Amarr questioned turning to face her

"Yeah" Alexis replied and Amarr just scoffed

"Freshman" he muttered after which he gave a short laugh.

Alexis felt stupid.

After about two more minutes of walking, they stopped at a building.

"This is lecture complex A" Amarr began "I would have followed you in but I have a class in about ten minutes so I gotta go" he continued "will you be ok on your own?" He asked

"Yeah, I'm with the schedule" Alexis replied

"Cool" he began "good luck then" he added as he turned to walk away.

Alexis stepped into the building and started walking down the halls looking at the writing above every hall.

She eventually stopped at hall 9 and she looked down at her schedule again just to be sure she was entering the right place this time.

She took in a deep breath and let it out as she slowly opened the door, preparing herself for the worst.

The class was almost full, there were only a few seats left in the back row. The lecturer stood in front of the class writting something on the white board. Alexis expected everyone to turn back to face her as she stepped in but nobody really did. Everyone was either writing in their notes or staring at the board.

She quickly slipped into one of the seats in the back row but just when she thinks everything is going well, the lecturer turns back. She was already sitting when she turned but apparently the lecturer had eyes at the back of her head.

"The girl who just stepped in" the lecturer called out and Alexis' heart skipped a feet.

She nervously got up from her seat and faced the woman who glared at her through her round black framed glasses.

"You're forty minutes late to a one hour lecture" the woman said without breaking eye contact, not even for a split second.

'shit' she thought.

She didn't realize she had wasted so much time.

"I am so sorry, I..." She was saying

"Leave my class" the lecturer cut her short.

"I actually have a..." Alexis tried to defend herself.

"Leave..." The lecturer began, anger now obvious in her voice "my class" she added with gritted teeth. She wasn't ready to take any of Alexis' bullshit.

Alexis just picked up her bag and turned to exit the class.

'fuck my life'
