Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Plan

Hm… Soft… Since when did my bed become so soft… No, that's an understatement, this is more, cloud-like? I couldn't help but relish this feeling before forcibly opening my eyes.

*Sigh*

"Looks like it's time to start the da-?!" Ansel choked on his own words as he stared at the marble ceiling above him.

'What…? Marble? I'm nowhere near rich enough to afford marble ceilings, let alone rent an apartment with them… so where the heck am I?' I thought while looking around, I was feeling very calm, even though my anxiety usually kicked in at moments like these…

I sat up in the cloud-like bed, only to realize that it was much bigger than I'd originally suspected.

It'd be like putting two rows of four queen-size beds together, the bed was absolutely massive. Truly… I couldn't even imagine having to change the sheets on this thing…

I blinked a few times to express my disbelief, even though I only felt calm. This feeling was very aggravating since I knew what I should feel, but I simply wasn't feeling it. It was like something was forcing me to stay calm…

But as interested in the root of my emotional problems as I was, I needed to find out where I currently was.

And equally although reluctant, I started to crawl from the center, to the edge of the bed, only to freeze in surprise.

Memories started to play in my head like a movie… And to sum it up, It was like this;

This world is known as Prilosean, it was a planet holding a nigh endless sea since 80% of it was water.

(Pri • Low • See • An)

It had to be known that there was only one land mass with life on it that is known to the world. That land mass is known as the Original Continent, and it is divided into three kingdoms.

The Kingdom of Thieves, The Holy Kingdom, and The Kingdom of Demons.

As usual, the adventurers (which were the Decent Humans) are stuck in the middle with the Demons and Thieves on either side.

The Holy Kingdom has the strongest military might and battle power of the three, but the reason they do not try to subjugate the other two is because they'd be attacked from behind while trying to invade either side. Dividing their forces would be too inefficient in the long run since they'd be worn down faster.

So at the moment, there is a "peace treaty" between the three kingdoms which keep each other at bay.

I had transmigrated into the body of the 3rd young master of Yellowtail County, which is a large assortment of cities/towns overseen by Count Adonis Yellowtail.

Currently, I am known as Ansel Yellowtail. Age 16. Height of 5'8". Pale Skin, Brown Hair, Brown Hazel Eyes. Ordinary Appearance.

From my new memories I could see that Ansel was born a quiet child who rarely speaks to anyone besides his father, not even his own siblings or servants. He is also extremely hardworking and has mastered noble etiquette and numerous other side hobbies. However, seven months ago, the Count had decided that it was not enough.

And although the Count also knew Ansel had an aversion to violence due to an incident that occured when he was younger… The Count thought that enrolling him into the Hero Academy that his brothers attended; would ignite his competitive spirit and break him out of his shell…

But boy was he wrong. Ansel was deeply humiliated during the first combat lesson, and badly injured during the second. His third combat lesson ended with him in a coma, and eventually him dying in said coma, which on that same day, I took his place. The cause of it all? Bastard noble sons with superiority complexes.

"So… I've transmigrated, eh? Well that's awesome and all, but where's my system? There's no way I could get transmigrated and not have one greet me on arrival." Ansel muttered in discontent as he looked around the familiar room before getting up. Only to abruptly sit back down.

I couldn't help but blink a few times at the barrage of blue notifications in my face.

Wait… Skills? What ski- No, it couldn't be. I immediately thought back to the skills I had gotten from that game event and couldn't help but get excited. The fact that I have my event-given skills explains my emotional issue as well… Damned Perpetual Calm passive skill…

"Yeah… I'm definitely the main character…" Ansel muttered, staring calmly at his stats before taking a deep breath.

Well then, now that I know my strengths, I need a plan. Obviously since I'm not the real Ansel, it will be tough to blend in… Is what others might say. But me? I know exactly what to do.

All I need to do is go with the 'I had a very strange dream while I was asleep' to explain that I'm now a completely different person. I'll give them some bullshit details about a fake life I lived, etc etc.

That should hold them for a while, but if it doesn't, I have a trump card if they attack… It's that I can instinctively feel how to use my 'Spirit Sword' skill.

I stood up and envisioned a basic longsword in my hand. Pure white light appeared in my palm, and like flowing water it gradually took the form of a sword and solidified into a glowing longsword which deserved the name 'Spirit Sword'.

"Interesting…" Ansel muttered as he swung around the sword like it weighed nothing. His instincts carried him through some basic swings and thrusts.

Although it felt odd to suddenly have knowledge, it was good that I knew exactly how to manipulate and swing this sword.

Apparently it can be sharper, duller, longer, shorter, bigger, or smaller. It doesn't matter, I can manipulate its size and power at will.

And if that's not enough, according to the feeling I'm getting I can create more than one sword. But right now, my body isn't strong enough to handle that, or make it sharper than it already is. The most I can currently do is summon a sword that can cut through steel like it's a hot knife through warm butter and weighs literally nothing. Which is still pretty powerful, even in a fantasy world.

(Why can't his body handle it? Exerting a tremendous amount of willpower to do something puts a strain on the body. So, the stronger the body the more willpower that can be exerted.)

—- ( Switching to 3rd Person ) —-

Ansel unsummoned the sword and mentally went through his plan once again and revised it.

'To avoid suspicion I'll continue to keep his habit of silence. Though when spoken to or provoked I'll speak, the less words the better though, unless it's to my father or brothers. Today I'll make an exception since I need to explain myself, the rest will come after.' Ansel thought as he paced around the room. 'According to the system, I have the monstrous combat prodigy talent, and combat will become like second-nature…'

'I felt its depth earlier, my hands just moved and I began to understand how to flow with the sword. Each move was simple and straightforward, exactly what you'd expect from an experienced swordsman. Although it came to me as easily as breathing…' Ansel thought as he grinned and continued his pacing. 'In the future I just need to rely on that when fighting. Eventually I'll have the time to learn on my own instead of having it embedded into my head… Though, the Absolute Genius passive-skill might say otherwise, I still want to try and learn some things on my own else I'll get too conceited.'

Ansel came up with a solid plan and then took some time to practice getting used to the feeling of his spirit sword. His breathing was always the same, and the sword was virtually soundless, so he wasn't caught or suspected at all.

Ansel willed away the sword and it dispersed like sand in the wind. He looked outside of the window at the horizon. "It should be time for dinner right about now. I wonder how shocked they'll be when they see me?" Ansel wondered as he walked over to his closet and pulled out the clothes he usually wore when eating with his family.

'Nobles are so weird… What's the point of putting on such fancy casual clothes just for eating?' He thought as he shook his head and quickly finished changing.

He looked at himself from afar in the mirror, his hair was a bit messy, but his clothes were well fit. His looks were okay even for an ordinary person, and without the clothes he'd look like a little above average commoner. However…

"Not bad, not bad…" Ansel smiled at his own reflection before turning around and putting a hand on the doorknob. "…Let's put on a good show."
