A bright, warm sun shines over the horizon and bathes the Japanese suburb in a beautiful shimmer as a distant rooster starts to crow. Trees of dark shades of green shine as blue birds start to fly; clouds of puffy white dissipate and reveal the bright blue sky. Inside a particular home within the suburb is a girl getting ready for school. She hums a melodic tune as she brushes her straight orange hair. "Ah, the first day of school has finally arrived!" She says as she puts on her black, polka-dotted bow. Now waltzing down the hall, she gleefully buttons up her beige coloured uniform and sits down at the table where she is presented a hearty meal. "The first day of highschool. Must be exciting, huh?" Her mother says with a soft tone. "Yeah. Totally!" The orange-haired girl exclaims with excitement. Finishing up her meal, she stands up from
her seat, puts on her shoes, and says her goodbyes to her mother.
Walking past a beautiful--green garden, she jogs and starts to anticipate the wonderful activities she could be doing at school. "Oh boy! I wonder what this wonderful country has in store for me today!" She says excitedly as she fantasizes. With every step she takes, a happy thought appears and fills her mind with joy; each thought better than the last. When she arrives and enters the premises, students stop and look at the new comer from head to toe. Without hesitation, they start bombarding the new comer with greetings and questions. The girl is overwhelmed. Managing to get through the crowd of curious peers, she arrives at the door to her classroom. Standing there, she thinks "So. This is it huh? Class 1-A." Looking at the slide door she takes a deep breath and goes in. The other students stop there chatting and greet the orange-haired newcomer, though not as harsh as the previous salutations. "Goodmorning!" one classmate says. "How do you do?" A guy asks. The newcomer smiles and greets them back as she sits down at her assigned desk. The teacher then comes in and says in a gentle tone "Class, we have a new student to introduce today." "She's from America and I trust that you treat her with patience and respect."
The orange-haired girl stands up and walks to the front of the class with a slight nervous tremble. Fixing her stance, she says "My name is May Asher. I'm 16 and I moved here to Japan because of my dad's job." The class, astounded by her fluent English, starts to ask questions about her home country. As the inquiries become abundant and the class increases in volume, the teacher quiets down the students by warning them with a stern voice. May is then ushered back to her seat. Looking around the room, she spots a blonde girl with green eyes looking at her. "What the- why's she looking at me?" May asks herself. They lock eye contact for more 3 seconds before going back to the lecture. "Odd lass..." May thinks. After class, Asher packs up her things and prepares to leave when she is suddenly approached by the blonde girl. "Your May, right?" She says with slight curiosity. "Yes. Yes I am. Can I help you?" Replied Asher. "The name's Yuki. Yuki Honda, nice to meet you!" The girl says with a smile. "Nice to meet ya, Yuki. Why were you staring at me earlier?" May inquires. "Oh. No reason..." Honda says as she grins and her eyes rotate slightly to the left. The school bell rings. "C'mon, let's have lunch together, May-chan." And without hesitation, Yuki grabs May by the arm and pulls her away to the cafeteria.
Finding their seat, they sit down and start to eat. Yuki asks May "So besides your dad, why else did you come to Japan." "Oh, my mom has been wanting to come to Japan for quite some time now. She says that she absolutely ADORES Japanese culture so when she heard of my dad's job opportunity, she was over the moon." May explained. "I see...are there any music groups you like?" Honda inquires. "Oh, I listen to old bands like The Beatles, Chicago, CCR, stuff like that." The blonde stops for a moment and looks at the girl with awe. With a burst of excitement, Yuki exclaims "OMG, you like old bands too?!" Asher is taken aback by her sudden enthusiasm, with a sheepish tone she replies "Uh, yes...?" "Hey, Yuki!" A voice calls out from behind. "Oh, hey." The blonde responds with a calm tone. A guy, probably 5' foot 5, with brown--curly hair approaches them with a cool grin and sits down at their table. The lad looks at Asher and is instantly infatuated as hearts start to appear and flowers start to bloom in his mind. So, with all his smooth confidence he says "Hi, (shakes hand) I'm Ryuichi Suzuki. Your friendly neighbourhood stud." Grinning as the words leave his mouth. Embarrassed by this, Honda remarks "Okay, lover boy. Shut up and eat your food." May giggles and catches on with his sudden infatuation. She decides to give him a compliment by saying "Alrighty then, nice to meet you. I like you're hair; kinda looks like Jason Scheff's hairstyle from 1985."
"Oh, a fan of the classics are we? I happen to be a Chicago fan myself, y'know?" Said Suzuki. Asher widens her eyes in surprise and asks "You know what Chicago is?" "Oh yeah. My parents have been fans of theirs since their early days. They're actually the reason I started drumming." Said the boy. "You know how to play drums!?" an exhilarated May asks. "Yes, he plays drums and I play keyboard. Do you know how to play any instruments?" A curious Yuki asks the now enthusiastic Asher. "Yes I do. I can play the bass, guitar, and harmonica." May says. "You know, I've actually been wanting to start a band for AGES now! But unfortunately I've been paired up with, erm, uninterested classmates. You guys...don't happen to fancy forming a band, yeah?" There was a brief moment of silence between the three. The two had not been asked about there music abilities before; let alone a band membership. Thinking for a little while, Yuki and Ryuichi look at each other, they look at May, and make their decision. "Sure! Let's do it." "Yeah! we'll rock the school with banger music!" Honda and Suzuki say respectively. Something went off inside May. A dynamite, no, a whole firework show of joy and happiness. She was as excited as a kid getting a new toy, or a pig rolling around in cool mud. Keeping her composure she says "Alright, it's settled then. From today on we are a band!" The school bell rings loudly. "Well we better get back to class now, gang." Said May. The three of them walk back to their classrooms all enlivened by their newly formed band.
