Chapter 9 - A tale of two nations

Leigrix and Galestadine were founded by two brothers, Yoima Gjdorn and Phil Gjdorn. They planned to create an abode that would share everything together, the citizens would have a neighboring country that would help in times of need. The same way the two brothers helped each other.

Leigrix was built toward the sea and Galestadine was built toward the mountains. Each of the nations already needed the other. People of Leigrix would go to Galestadine for recreational activities and people of Galestadine will go to Leigrix for water and fish.

The first famine reared its ugly skull on the two nations and now one nation was more in need than the other, citizens of Leigrix protected their water and fish. On the grounds that they needed it to feed their families and since the people of Galestadine had nothing the people of Leigrix couldn't live without. The two nations were at an imbalance.

The two brothers talked day and night trying to find a solution to the problem and that's when everything came crashing down. Phil who lead Galestadine was being pressured by his people every day, the people of Leigrix wouldn't even allow them passage into the city anymore. Phil's mind was breaking and he didn't know what to do. His brother held him softly trying to calm him down but that was the end. Phil had a knife in his hand and immediately Yoima hugged him the blade cut through his abdomen. Gasping both for breath and for help, Yoima eventually died on the floors of Galestadine at the hand of his own brother.

The famine had ended and Phil was sentenced to a public execution in Leigrix but matters didn't end there, the next leaders of the two nations carried on the same wills of the previous. Leading the two countries to a middle zone between war and peace and if provoked the scales might just tip.

[Battle magic act three: Blazing dragon flames], Draco'nel was the first to unleash an act, by concentrating mana into his mouth he blew out three dragon heads that were made out of fire, and instantly following his lead was Micah. [Battle magic act two: Lightning cover], Micah ran toward the dragon heads that were sent toward the daemon and infused them with another elemental affinity that caused a chain reaction, combining the two spells to endow significantly more damage.

However, this wasn't just any daemon they were facing. Before the moves collided with the daemon it dragged its arm out of the ground pushing so much of the earth up that the moves were nullified. "Hahahahaha." the daemon laughed after it destroyed their combo. "Hahahahahaha"

"My turn!" Hiakam shouted as he threw his spear at the daemon, [Battle magic act three: Grand shock plus battle magic act one: Tide caller], creating two spells in one go was more strenuous on the body than creating one each on different intervals, even if the act was lower. Hiakam had his spear on a thin woven string and immediately the water spell mixed with the electricity spell, He pulled his spear back and swung it around him while simultaneously pulling back the string to create a smaller axis so it won't hit anyone else, before letting go of the string again as he faced the daemon. "Now you're wet and being electrocuted why don't we up the damage." [Battle magic act one: Fire-covered spear], Hiakam bled from his nose as he unleashed one more act, the daemon was definitely feeling the damage and as the spear lathered in flames combined with the electricity. An explosion occurred.

"Wow," Gasef said as he saw Hiakam attack the daemon, he definitely looked like the second most unserious person after the guy that slept for the entire trip but now. "Wow."

"How'd you like that....daemon." Hiakam fell to one knee as he dragged his spear back with his string.

"Did he get it?" Emma thought to herself.

"HAHAHAHAHA" The daemon swung its arm at Micah and the sleepy hunter swiftly jumped onto it.

Running on the daemon's arm, Micah wanted to try an act but he knew the risk that was involved in doing so. One slip up here and you'd find yourself in the jaws of a daemon, so he went for something safer. [Battle magic act three: Thunderbolt], upping the act meant upping the amount of damage that could be done with any spell, even though thunderbolt was a basic spell if infused with an act twenty worth of mana it could easily kill a titan class daemon.

Micah blitzed the daemon and slashed at its head, the neck was too thick to be cut through and even though his blade didn't break he could feel it vibrate as if he slashed at steel. "We're gonna have to go for the heart directly!" Micah shouted as he jumped off the daemon after it swung its other arm at him.

Daemons couldn't be killed without destroying their hearts. The heart location was the same for each daemon. It was located in the same place one would locate the heart of a human. So to be able to destroy the hearts of daemons more frequently, hunters would incapacitate the daemon. Then strike its heart or they would dismember the daemon, making it helpless against an attack at its heart. Of course the second tactic was used for daemons that couldn't regenerate their limbs.

"Emma protect Hiakam and the kid, we're gonna take this thing down!" Draco'nel shouted as he held the giant blade with two arms the daemon was bigger than them by a high margin, it probably stood about twelve feet maybe even taller. "Micah, pattern 5"

"Finally," Micah ran toward the daemon from a different angle than Draco'nel, making parallel runs in a pincer formation.

[Support Magic act two: Mud pool], Draco'nel created a sinking puddle of quicksand underneath the daemon as Micah flanked from the left. "There's your opening Micah."

[Battle magic act two: Thunderbolt], blitzing the daemon again at terrific speeds Micah jumped and slashed the daemon's heart the same effect occurred and the blade got pushed back but that wasn't the final attack. Pattern 5 was a three-man move and even though they hadn't told the third person what to do, they trusted that he would show up. The daemon was desperate, it grabbed a large boulder and threw it toward Micah who was in point-blank range and couldn't defend against the strike.

[Battle magic act two: Lightning spear, Tenfold], Hiakam threw his spear at the rock and immediately it broke through he used his string to maneuver it again toward the heart of the daemon, Micah jumped on a side of the broken rock. [Battle magic act two: Lightning harness], throwing his blade also at the heart of the beast both attacks surged the daemon with so much electricity that it growled as it sunk slowly into the mud pit, Micah fell and looked at Draco'nel. Who was the most important piece of the pattern. Why?

[Battle magic act eight: Drauvagast bomb], taking his head back and throwing it forward instantly. Draco'nel shot a line of highly concentrated fire that hit the two weapons through the heart of the daemon causing an explosion that rocked the earth.

The explosion threw so much debris and the already tired hunters couldn't defend so now it was time. She stood up, and took a deep breath in. [Battle magic act four: Lightning blitz], moving at terrific speeds no one could see the movement of Emma as she cut each rock to pieces before they reached her teammates.

The rock shower was over and she landed on the floor, she exhaled and looked at her fellow hunters. They were strong.

Everyone got up and the two people who threw their weapons picked them back up, they still needed to pick the jua and Gasef was doing that but it seemed they made too much noise. The shouts and footsteps of the guards could be heard from a distance and immediately Gasef shouted. "Let's go." Draco'nel let out an act that set the forest on fire. A diversion which they used to escape.

"Thank you so much sir," Gasef bowed his head and left with a basket filled to the brim with jua fruit.

"You interfered meaning if this was a test you're in trouble too." Draco'nel looked at Emma.

"You guys are worthy."

"What?" Hiakam asked as he heard the word worthy. "Didn't catch that."

"Nevermind." Emma turned her back and walked toward the pier.

"Am I mistaken or did she just call us worthy," Hiakam said again before being bonked on the head by Draco'nel, who like earlier today was currently carrying Micah over his shoulder. "Hmm, well I'll give it to the sleepy hunter. He kicked ass today, and saved it."

"Yep that's how Micah is, that's how he always has been." Draco'nel laughed.

"Stop shaking, I can't sleep" Micah whispered.

"Oh... Sorry"
