Zain wasn't all that bothered by this discovery however since he was very much aware that this was a savage and cruel world to live in were survival of the fittest reigned. Honestly speaking he would have been more bothered to discover that Alex was always calm minded instead since he had only seen people with mental problems like that. Alex sent Zain and the handler ahead on the path with the excuse that he wouldn't fit on it very well and he isn't there to baby them for the whole trip.
Of course almost exactly like in the game a legiana showed up and caused the two to fall into the rotten vale below. Alex leapt into action immediately once this happened with his front claws slamming into the beast chest. The legiana crashed into the corals with a cry of pain from the impact but Alex didn't care and shoulder tackled it before it could recover. "CRACK!" The ribs of the wyvern broke from the full force of Alex's muscles pressing into it's chest. Alex flapped his wings while adding even more force and with a sickening "SQWELCH!" the chest caved in crushing all the organs beneath it.
This spelt the end for this particular legiana as once it's organs had been destroyed survival was no longer possible. It took five minutes for death to truly set in and the wyvern to stop struggling beneath Alex. Quick , brutal and efficient was the best way to describe Alex's hunting methods but he could care less since he got what he wanted. As much as it irritated him he ate the corpse on the spot since he couldn't take it back to astera to get cooked without getting questioned about Zain and the handlers whereabouts.
Still he got a couple traits from the legiana so it wasn't all bad news on his part , [cold resistance] and [lithe figure]. The first one was easy to understand from the name and needed him to eat twenty ice element items to unlock. The second one however was little used to keep his body shape compact and streamlined rather than bulky. While looking like a steroid abusing dragon was all well and good Alex would like to be less brutish in appearance. If anything this trait may actually make him even more dangerous since he would still have all the same power but condensed into a smaller package.
Unfortunately like all good traits this one also had an annoying requirement to unlock , consuming two hundred lithe bodied large monsters. Alex had no problem with traits like this having harder requirements since they were almost always more useful than the more normal traits. Alex had actually questioned the system about why different traits had massively different requirements before. The answer he got was in regards to the notification of the ultra rare ranked trait [telepathy] , apparently traits had different ranks from common all the way up to unique that determined how hard they were to acquire.
The actual ranks were common , uncommon , rare , ultra rare , legendary and finally unique. The first three ranks were easy to find if you put in the effort while the last three were each leagues harder to find than the previous rank. According to the system the hard to fulfil requirements were found in the rare rank traits while the last three ranks were almost a matter of luck to get which is why the requirements for them to be unlocked were waved until you were trying to level them up.
Apparently there were about three thousand ultra rare ranked traits in the entire world , two hundred legendary ranked traits and ten unique ranked traits. If you consider that there are BILLIONS of monsters in the world then exactly how rare these traits are suddenly becomes clear. For those interested Alex himself merely had a single legendary trait while lacking any unique traits with his only legendary trait being his [enhanced brain] trait that let him have sapience. Most of his current traits were common or uncommon with only a few being rare in rank so he obviously had plenty of work to do before he got to the top of the food chain world wide.
