When the meeting between Zain and the commander was over Zain much like the rest of the fifth fleet went to go see Alex though for a different reason than the rest. This was seen when Zain made his way through the crowd with a stern expression and soon stood before Alex. "Face me beast!" He barked out while drawing his sword. The crowd distanced themselves from Alex and Zain once this challenge was issued. Alex looked at this person without a hint of fear and shamelessly wrote on the ground "no".
"It wasn't a request!" Zain yelled before charging at Alex with a sideways slash aimed at his chest. Alex remained perfectly still despite this sudden attack since he knew how to counter it without any issue. Indeed just before the blade would reach him Alex swiped downwards with his right claw onto the side of the blade trapping it underneath his full weight. The muscles in his face twitched slightly from the pain of the blade cutting into the scales of his claw but ignored it and set his left claw on the blade as well to make removing it even harder.
Zain was left in a horrible position as he had been effectively disarmed after his first attack and Alex took advantage of this to send his tail spike slicing at the man forcing him to release the blade to retreat. Alex leisurely laid down on top of the blade to prevent the man from having any hope of retrieving it and calmly wrote on the ground. "NO". For a moment the crowd had trouble figuring out who was the monster in this situation as Zain was huffing and puffing in rage while Alex was completely calm. The commander came over to see what the commotion was and saw the two words written in the sand as well as the raging Zain roughly figured it out.
"You have only been here a few hours and you are already picking a fight Zain , i'm disappointed." He said with a stern expression. Zain looked at the man "he is supposed to be a fearsome and prideful elder dragon but instead when i challenged him he said no! When i attacked him to force him to fight he disarmed me and told me no again like I was some sort of fucking joke to him!" Zain yelled angrily.
The commander sighed "When the guild said something like this might happen I had hoped that they were over reacting but here you are jumping into something without all the facts. Obsidian has never acted in an aggressive or even prideful manner in the entire time he has been with us and unlike you he probably saw no point in fighting you." He said sternly and Zain seemed to deflate as the logic behind these words set in. "I probably made a mess of things for no reason huh?" He asked with a sigh.
The commander looked at Alex to get his opinion on the matter but Alex merely shrugged like he didn't care either way. "It would seem you aren't beyond redemption after all since Sid here doesn't seem to mind. That said i am rather curious as to how you disarmed Zain if you don't mind explaining sid." The commander said calmly. Alex nodded and began to write in the sand "He telegraphed his attack from the start as a sideways slash so I merely waited until he could no longer adjust his aim mid swing to press the blade down from the flat with my full weight before using my tail to force him to release the handle."
The commander visualized what Alex's words showed and found this very reasonable since a hunters techniques are not designed to be used against intelligent foes and it showed in this instance. Most of the time a hunters techniques involved hit and run tactics that slowly brought down the instinct driven monsters they usually fought. When that same style was used against the logic and intelligence based Alex it was clear that it contained huge openings that made it easy to exploit.
