This didn't mean the fleet admiral wasn't going to create counter measures against alex for the off chance alex suddenly became aggressive. honestly though the man didn't think they would ever need the stuff , not to blow his own horn but he was a pretty good judge of people and alex felt very steady and loyal. the admiral absolutely loved the idea that alex was an elder dragon of some sort since he was very respectful of those beings power. meanwhile alex was terrified by the admiral as unlike everyone else the man was his own slinger using pure brute muscle to fill the role.
To put that into perspective a slinger launched it's loaded ammo at the same speed as a fastball by the strongest man in the world back on earth. the admiral matched that power casually like it wasn't even that hard. alex was under the impression that the admiral was actually a monster in disguise from how stupidly strong he was. the admiral wrestled with alex every now and then and alex (a couple ton muscular reptile) actually had trouble matching the man. needless to say alex had no intention of getting on the mans bad side , he chose life thanks.
The day alex had planned to go out hunting on his own arrived and he made his way out of his newly expanded nest that was far larger now. the heavy thumps against the wooden walkway a testament to his weight as he walked. the presence alex gave off was different today and the hunters present could tell and they followed him curiously. the admiral and the first fleet commander joined the crowd following alex just as interested. alex stopped in front of the entrance to astera leading to the forest and the hunters wondered what he was doing when he opened his fanged mouth and roared.
It felt right to alex like something he had to do and the admiral broke out into a huge smile "i was wondering when he would." he said and the rest of the group looked at him in confusion so he explained. "he finally decided to going hunting , he has been getting restless recently so i figured it was only a matter of time." he said with a wide grin. alex locked eyes with the man and nodded before taking off into the sky.
Before getting to far away alex heard the admiral yell out to him "go give em hell kid!" and alex planned on it. the area alex flew over had kestadons and aptanoths that were a small stubborn monster and a medium docile herbivorous monster that behaved similar to cattle. neither of these were appealing prey for alex however as they were fairly weak. it took alex about ten minute to find the traces of his current prey , a great jagras. the clawed foot prints and wide drag marks indicated that a member of that species had been here recently.
Alex carefully tracked the monster through the undergrowth while keeping an ear out for any sounds of the more dangerous residents of the forest such as the rathalos and the anjanath. he didn't hear any so he continued to stalk his prey that was lumbering around totally unaware it was being hunted. alex found the monster in a wide area with a huge boulder suspended over head precariously by vines. the monster was no longer bloated and was drinking from the stream running through the area when alex flung a spark stone at the boulder over head causing it to come crashing down.
The sudden collapsing weight knocked over the beast that flailed around in panic at the sudden damage while alex dashed over into a pounce with wide open jaws. the beast screamed as alex's long shark like fangs ripped into its throat and his claws gouged purchase into its soft underbelly. alex tasted the sweet blood on his tongue and shook his head violently tearing out a chunk of the beast's throat which he swallowed completely ignoring the notification he got as he did so. the great jagras knew it was going to die at this point and thrashed about violently in a bid to injure alex.
Alex wasn't going to have any of that however as he grabbed the spine area with his jaws and bit down hard followed by a quick twist and jerk of his head snapping the great jagras's neck. alex watched coldly as the light faded from the beast eyes before he grabbed the back of the throat and gripped the corpses sides with his claws and flapped his wings. it was a heavy burden to fly with but he made it back to astera right around dusk as the sun began to fall over the horizon.
