The beast, conceived and nurtured by Gaia had already defeated 4 of the most powerful gods; Poseidon first in his own domain, then Ares, Artemis and Apollo in the realm of men, after defeating them, he began heading to the top of Mount Olympus and when some of the deities saw that Typhon was already climbing up to the top of Mount Olympus, they fled the heavenly abode in a frantic panic, disguising themselves as animals and they quickly fled to Egypt, the land of the Pharoah's, the now animal shaped gods had their divinity recognized and they began to be worshipped as gods.
On Mount Olympus, only Zeus and his daughter Athena-the goddess of strategy and defensive warfare, only they were left to face Typhon. The beast kept on throwing continuous flames from its mouth towards Athena and she had to keep on protecting herself with her sacred shield as it was the only thing she could do to avoid being engulfed by the inferno attack. Athena then charged at the monster in an attempt to pierce the monster's heart, but it was to no avail, the goddess was grabbed in mid-air and slammed into a pillar. Zeus tried to defend his daughter by firing one of his powerful thunderbolts but after throwing it, he watched hopelessly as the beast blocked his attack with ease.
Zeus was struck by a powerful blow from Typhon and while he attempted to get back on his feet, he caught a glimpse of Kronos's Scythe which had been kept in the palace as a Memoir and a display, the weapon which was capable of killing even a god. Zeus wielded his father's weapon and was dead set on putting an end to Typhons reign of terror and destruction, the god cut through the tentacles that tried to block his path and then he attempted to cut the monster's neck, typhon dodged the strike and landed a powerful counterattack. Zeus now wounded could not hold on to the Titan's scythe and dropped it. Typhon grabbed the divine weapon and at this point the supreme god was completely at his mercy.
Zeus was lifted from the ground by Typhon, and he proceeded to use the scythe to rip out Zeus's tendons. The supreme god was defeated, and Typhon enjoyed his victory. After having fulfilled his mission, Typhon transformed out of his bestial form, exchanging it for an avatar that he believed looked more noble for the title of the new lord who would reign over the heavens. Without his tendons Zeus was completely helpless.
Typhon then chose his wife, Echidna-the serpent woman and told her to protect the box which contained Zeus's tendons, and in the meantime, Zeus was chained in a humiliating way, but the god still had allies. Pan-the god of the wild and Hermes-the light-footed messenger god, were trying to come up with a plan to rescue Zeus's tendons and so the gods waited for typhon to walk away from where the tendons were kept in order to move on with their scheme. With his powerful shout which was capable of creating panic even in the bravest warriors, pan drove Echidna into a state of confusion and simultaneously, Hermes used all his speed, rushed forward and stole the precious box where Zeus's tendons were kept. Pan continued to distract the serpent woman, So Hermes was able run to where Zeus was and free him. The god broke the chains that imprisoned his Father and he gave him back his tendons.
Zeus was now able to stand once more, and his heart was filled with rage and the desire to take revenge against Typhon. A lackey informed Typhon that Zeus had been rescued and he was seeking to have his revenge, Typhon was infuriated by the fact that his prisoner had fled and unsure of his fate he decided to visit the Moirai-the women who weaved the destiny of Man and gods, and they revealed to him that his re=encounter with Zeus was inevitable and that if nothing was done his defeat would also be inevitable and so the Moirai gave him a fruit and they told him that it was a magical delicacy that would increase his power, nut what the ignorant unsuspecting Typhon didn't know was that, the Moirai hated everything in which the monster stood for since he was a being who sought to spread chaos while they were beings who existed to uphold order.
The Moirai had poisoned the fruit offered to the monster, Typhon started to feel sick and some of his strength drained away and that is when Zeus emerged to get his revenge, the god and the monster measured forces but thanks to the fruit of the Moirai, Typhon and Zeus fought, both possessing equal strength, but the monster's courage was shaken, noticing that he no longer had superiority over his enemy and on the other hand Zeus's confidence only grew as he realized his opponent's fear. Typhon noticed that his victory would not come by means of a fair fight, he assumed his original colossal form.
Zeus swerved and dodged the dangerous attacks of Typhon's tentacles, and this infuriated and frustrated Typhon the more. Zeus realized that it was time to take back the initiative and attacked, the lord of the universe focused all his power and charged it into a single thunderbolt and fired it at Typhon's head with devastating speed, accuracy and power and the gigantic monster fell but just like the gods, he was immortal, so Zeus then made use of his divine strength, picked up a mountain and threw it over to Typhon and that's when the creature was finally and definitely defeated and imprisoned.
The Olympian gods returned from Egypt and knelt before Zeus's throne, the god who had defeated the forces of Chaos and established order once more in the universe. And under the massive mountain on the island of Sicily, the monster Typhon remains imprisoned and in his moments of fury, the beast makes the mountain spit fire, lava and smoke and this huge volcano, is known as Etna, one of the world's most active Volcanoes, and even thousands of years after it is still possible to behold the fury of typhon.
