Chapter 4 - Hisakos's Apathy

Swiftly after the lord left, Hisako stood from the table, still unfazed by the situation. "Well, seeing as we have been dismissed, I shall take my leave from the meal." She said softly, turning her back to the people who were still unaware of how to react. Hisakos's hand gently tapped the doorknob before someone behind her captured her wrist. "I apologize for the shocking event. I am aware you must be quite distressed by this abrupt news. Please don't be too saddened by this; we are just incompatible." The still, childish tenor voice fell on Hisako's ears; the pride was apparent as he remarked, looking down on the lady. "I am unaware of why you believe me to be upset. We have little history besides our parents bestowing this arranged marriage. I know little of you and have only met you a handful of times. I only find it foolish to claim you wish to sever our family ties over your supposed romance." Hisako replied with little emotion, pulling her hand from the gentleman's grasp. Without saying anything else, she watched as the child's face turned red in a fluster, shocked and bothered by her lackluster response. Without another word, she opened the door and stepped out of the room, walking passed the stationed guards. "It is time for us to leave, Annabelle." She said with authority, not looking back.

"W-wait! I am not finished speaking to you, lady Hisako!" Edric called after the lady with slight agitation as he sped down the hallway after Hisako. After a long sigh, Hisako stopped turning around to face her fiance. They were now almost to the end of the hallway. "Have you not made enough of a fool of yourself today? What is it that you wish to say to me?" she asked with annoyance, seemingly tired of interacting with the young man. 'I should have known he wouldn't leave me be without asking for that so-called favor once again." Misaki thought her expression portrayed how impatient she was toward this interaction. Edric paused, looking somewhat surprised before his prideful look returned. He scoffed almost as if expressing that this reaction should be expected. 'His face truly gives his mind away. So simple to read. How did this fool ever trick me?' She thought, slightly disappointed by her younger self.

"I wish to apologize again and request something of you." The young man said with a light tone, seemingly sure his request would be received. "Well, what is this request of yours? Please make it fast. I wish to return to my chambers." She asked, crossing her arms and leaning away from the man, looking ready to flee at any moment. "Yes, I won't keep you waiting then. I wish the young lady would not be involved with me after today. I will be going on dates with my fiance to be before my audience with his grace, and I hope you will not show yourself in an unsightly way. The rumors surrounding lady Hisako are already grim, and a rumor of an obsessive ex-fiance would bring great dishonor to your house, so you see, I'm bringing this discussion up for your sake." Edric remarked in a taunting way as if to try and force a reaction as he spoke words of venom. With a small scoff, Hisako replied.

"No need for your concern. I had no intention of ever acknowledging any relationship between us. The bond our house held from the war smeared in our ancestor's blood and was buried with my father." with a slight tilt of her chin, she swung herself in the opposite direction carrying an air of arrogance as she left her bewildered fiance. Continuing her path, she walks to her room, where she stands in front of the door. Annabelle quickly approaches the door opening the door for the lady as she enters swiftly behind her. There was silence in the room, both individuals deeply in thought. Approaching a couch near the window, Hisako takes a seat sitting casually.

'Finally, a moment to breathe. Things wouldn't be so stressful if I could stay asleep.' Hisako thought, staring at her tiny hands. 'I didn't know this was real, but I woke up again. It's the year 323. I'm eight years old again. There are many mysteries in this world, but to think I would be granted immortality in such a mysterious way. I was ready to have my eternity of slumber as well.'

"What a shame," she mumbled to herself. "Y-young miss, please don't be saddened by your fiance's words. I am aware of the severity, but his grace would never let this engagement be broken like that. Sir Edric will apologize and compensate the house for this rude behavior, I'm sure!" Annabelle said, attempting to comfort her after hearing Hisakos's faint remark and misunderstanding her meaning. "I am not saddened by this broken engagement, Annabelle. Lord Edric is unworthy of the name glyn, and he is even more unworthy of the house of Morphew's attention. More importantly, I wish to go over my schedule with you. I want to add lessons on magic and martial arts." Hisako explained briefly before leaning back on the couch. "Lady, I am willing to help you develop an adequate schedule, but the lord must approve of the changes," Annabelle replied, standing near the couch with a tall posture. "Grandfather will accept any changes I wish to make," Hisako said with a slight smirk and confident eyes.
