Chapter 13 - 13. A sensible layout

"Can I hold your hand at least one more time before we ran out of time?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Armin

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As soon as those words lingered in my ears, a panic arose in me. I looked over to Adrian behind me and noticed that I wasn't the only one with a particular set of thoughts. He quickly knelt down and pulled me up. It stinged to get up but he gave me support.

"Where is Naia? She was here wasn't she?" He said as a blend of confusion and worry took over.

"She ran away! Wasn't Momoa here as well? I don't see her..." I said as I started to look around.

"I think she was ahead with father" I nodded at his response.

Seeing how things were as of now, Adrian followed my pursuit. I called out for Naia a multiple times but this dark building was so silent that it sent chills down my spine. I pulled my gun out which only earned me a questionable look from him.

"I knew she is my sister but if she was innocent, she wouldn't have ran away!" After a couple of seconds I froze in my place and looked over to Adrian as we kept still as well.

Tik tik tik tik.....tik tik tik....

It was as if he read my mind. In a matter of seconds we started to evacuate the building as it was really evident that some sort of explosive were settled there.

As we were dashing out I made a mental note to myself that Naia is no longer my sister whom I used to know, there is more to her and I must know what it is at all costs. All of this is somewhat a trailer of disaster of some big scale.

We ran as fast as we could and at some point Adrian grabbed my hand and we made it out. As soon as we reached outside, that old man was still there but with less people. He looked at us if he was expecting someone else as well. "Where is Momoa?"

"What?"

"Adrian, wasn't she with you? Where is-"

The building exploded and flames of fire took place. Everyone knelt down to protect themselves from the blast, I also grabbed Adrian. Yet he shifted his body infront of me, pulling me closer in a sheild of his embrace while leaning down to cover me as our eyes stuck on to eachother and all I could think was how inverse it all was of the first time we met.

There in the back of mind I had an only hope. All I hoped was neither momoa was in that building nor Naia.

Before I could have opened my mouth to say something, a man came and informed us the Naia fled the scene and possibly she took Momoa as well. I felt Adrian's gaze on me and I did felt his hands on both of my arms asking if I were okay. The old man looked somewhat defeated, terrified and concerned.

It was crystal clear that the whole ordeal about this case was much more chaotic then one can put in words.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I took a sigh of annoyance as this fire place was very well lit infornt of me. The room had a dark yet warm decor. Infront of the fireplace was the study table and in between was a couch set settled. The walls had books and files of certain time tags. One of the book shelf was very particular in style. There was this huge pit of silence in the office and no one uttered a word. Me, Adrian and his father all sat in silence and no words were exchanged. I can't say it was a comfortable silence.

"I think I haven't introduced myself." Adrian's father spoke and honestly I felt really glad he did. "I am Dealan Wazen and.....you already have the idea of how I am related to Adrian. I have heard about you Ms. Armin"

"I am pleased to meet you, I guess?" I remarked and it went all silent again. I stole a gaze at that book shelf. "You...have a nice study Mr.Dealen..."

"Compliment appreciated! But its not mine, its his." he spoke as he pointed with his hand towards Adrian. Yes as cliché it sounds, he was already looking at me with a deep gaze. Now I also made another mental note to myself, I need to find answers to my certain curiosities concerning this study. "Usually this area is off-limits as per say. But certain occasions calls for ....certain measures" Adrian said, putting a bitter emphasis on the end words..

I waited for a few moments and ..."My apologise but I have numerous questions and point of concerns that I want to clarify. Which does include my sister..." I said as he got up from his chair and said "then I must not keep you from it, Adrian will help you."

"I prefer if you would."

"I prefer if he would, now excuse me"

He left the room and silence again took over.

Adrian's gaze was set upon me and I can feel his muted plea. "Armin we need to talk somethings out." He said as I nodded my head.

"And all of those things needs to be compacted as much as possible." I replied. I looked at him and we had an eye contact.

"I wonder what made you act towards me this way Armin but can you-"

"Not to sound rude or anything like that, we need to discuss something important Mr. Wazen."

"Armin....I can not answer your questions if you are being like this." He responded with a guarded and rigid voice as he lowered his neck now looking at the floor.

Adrian

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was looking at the floor and after a few moments I heard something shift. The tip of Armin's shoes came into my view and it indicated that she was right infront of me. She placed her one hand under my chin while she had her other arm grabbing the arm of the arm chair. She raised my face and now I was looking at her.

"My eyes are up here. Talk. while. looking. at. Me"

I gulped at her dominance. There was no way for me to get out of her command. She pulled away herself. And went to sit on her seat. I wanted to say something but I felt a little hesitant. She sighed and gestured me to speak while raising her hand.

"I know we have things to discuss Armin, but we also need to discuss things about us!"

She just smirked a little and said...

..."there was never any 'us' from the first place, was there?"
