Steve didn't jump out immediately but rather waited till the python was very close to him then he jumped back.
CRASH!
The ground where Steve stood shook violently as the Python's head impacted with the ground but that didn't stop it, it quickly made another quick movement to put Steve between it's jaws but Steve dodged it, Steve dodged and dodged till he was certain that the python was following his every move and that made it feel like it would have him between it's jaws in the next attack.
