Chereads / My quiet bodyguard / Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Han on the other side of the phone had a smile on his face.

With the strength he achieved and his heightened sense he obviously heard her whispers and noticed the phone was on the speaker which was why he didn't speak about the new identity made for him.

Kale should also know that he was aware.

But he didn't expect to get blown up like that.

This meant Kale wanted Han to come to him himself for the secret deal rather than reach him through her, which will obviously lead Ari to be suspicious, and Kale doesn't want that coming from his cold tone.

Han held the phone tightly.

From the investigation he had running since they left the training center Kale came from nowhere.

Or to be specific, he never excited.

No camera caught him even when he made it through the training center.

And even the cameras inside didn't while he was standing in the corner.

It was only after his bodyguard felt his presence that Kale's figure appeared.

Kale never excited through any records, CCTVs, no family no nothing.

Until that very moment in the center.

As if he came from nowhere.

With his bodyguard, he had a lot of thoughts that day.

Could Kale be an ascended that came back to the mortal realm?

Han remembered talking with Asia's only 9th ranked, an acquaintance of his father.

He was one who achieved his rank with cultivation.

He often secluded himself in the mountains trying to ascend, what most people perceive as the unattainable 10th rank.

The rank that made humans gods.

But throughout history, those who were rumored to achieve such rank all disappeared.

They were named ascended as they left for the spiritual realm and watch over the realm of mortals.

Kale could be one of them.

It would explain his sudden appearance in the world, his uncaring attitude towards fame and money, and his coming back from the mountains which were often where humans seclude themselves to ascend.

That would also explain why he didn't answer the question about his rank.

Throughout the day Han was feeling very energetic after reaching such a conclusion.

Kale looked confident when he spoke about owning one to him.

If he was truly an ascended.

This meant the heavens for him, but often not, it meant destruction playing on such people's bad sides.

Han was of course familiar with these kinds of situations.

He only needed to play his cards right.

For as far as he knows having such strength plenty of beautiful women could be found in the world.

Kale had no reason to lie or look out for Ari and go through all the pain of serving her to hurt her.

That was the reason he truly trusted him in that span of time.

It meant he was truly interested in her.

---

Ari held the phone from Kale's hands still with a baffled expression.

"Y-yes uncle," she softly said watching Kale turn around and stare at the car.

"My dear I am sure you heard that he doesn't have a phone. I just got turned down by him so can you make sure he gets that? I am sure you both will be needing it."

"Oh yes, It is a necessity after all."

They finished the call after a few more words.

Ari raised her eyes to look at her nonchalant bodyguard driving.

"Do you really not have a phone?"

He didn't answer her.

Ari noticed this about him. He doesn't like answering stupid questions.

Yeah, why would he lie? she asked herself.

Wait...

Suddenly she realized something.

Did he just not answer me because my question was stupid?

Aha...

She stared at him with frowned eyebrows, almost pouting.

Ah, she sighed.

He is seriously weird, she thought.

Yeah, it was truly this weird for her to find someone with a personality like this.

In the middle of her thoughts, she noticed they reached the complex where their houses were located.

The security walked up to them as soon as they saw the car.

"Miss Soo, Sir Kale, we were notified to bring you the keys to this house by Mr. Soo," spoke the middle-aged man in front as Kale opened the window seat.

"Thank you," Kale didn't speak more and left.

They stopped in front of her house.

Kale opened the door for her again.

She didn't notice that she took his hand naturally as if this was a habit.

Her focus was on one of the security guards who ran up to them.

And, Kale, who this time, was standing by her side and a bit in front of her rather than behind.

Hmm...

Even her father's bodyguards or Song-ho weren't this protective.

"Sir Kale, after thinking about it the head of security thought it would be better if you had a radio connected to us so here it is if you would like to accept it," spoke the security man handing Kale the radio.

"Thank you, I apologize for the inconvenience," he spoke with his deep voice.

He always looked serious.

"Oh no sir please, it is our job," responded the security frustrated.

Kale didn't speak more and nodded slightly at the man.

"I will be taking my leave."

Kale turned to Ari as they were left alone. "Do you need me to get anything for you tonight?"

"Hm, no I don't need anything. I will be going in now, goodnight," she nodded and opened the door to her house.

Kale didn't respond and only nodded his head when they met eyes.

Ari closed the door on her end and laid her back on it, breathing a heavy sigh.

She hurriedly ran up to her room on the first floor, whose balcony had a view over the door to her house.

Ari didn't know why she was doing this but she looked from the balcony without turning the light on.

She found Kale opening the door to his property.

She stared at him as he walked the line of the small garden.

On the way, he opened his jacket again and took it off, holding it with two fingers over his shoulder.

He tilted his head slightly and cracked it as he held his tie with his other hand and loosened it, also opening the two top buttons of his black shirt.

By the end of this, he was in front of the door of his house, away from her sight.

Ari closed off the balcony without saying a word.

She quietly laid down on her bed, slowly grabbing a pillow and hugging it.

Then, the memory of him opening the buttons of his shirt...

The light reflecting off the silver necklace...

The silver necklace, on his finely drawn collarbone...

The veins and details on his neck...

Ari held the pillow tightly and hid her face in it as she kept rolling over on her bed.

This man...

She screamed softly in frustration.

Suddenly she jumped from her bed.

"Pf," she blew off her messy hair falling on her face.

She fell again on her bed making tired growling voices.

---

On the house next door.

Kale took out a bottle of wine from the fridge, after having changed clothes.

If he wanted to he could feel and know everything she was doing inside.

But he didn't.

Unnoticed by the security guards and Ari, Kale already used his power to clear out all the houses in this place of any threats.

Now, he merely controlled his powers outside her house and the complex.

Rather than using his power, this mere thing was nothing to him.

Even right now he was conscious of worlds and galaxies moving around him.

He only blocked his senses from her house.

He was, different than anything normal humans could perceive.

As long as there were no threats to her.

He would notice any kind of movement.

Unless, it was made by his father...

So he didn't know she watched him walk.

And right now he didn't know she was sitting on her balcony, holding her computer and listening to music on her headset.

He held a glass and slowly poured the wine.

This time he didn't look much at it.

He looked out the balcony, where the moon was shining the brightest.

He took out the bottle with him and placed it on top of the balcony's railing.

His shadow held the glass to his lips while he faced the moon.

---

Ari, had her hand covering her mouth while watching this scene.
