Chapter 42 - King of JurryIsland

Achilles was sitting on the throne with his queen next to him.

Almost everyone was present in the throne room for his coronation. The royal family of Dawn and the royal family of Michilandia were also present.

"Long live the king!" the former king said as he placed the black cast iron diadem embedded with rubies on his son's head.

"Long live the king!" Everyone else said in unison.

Achilles held his wife's hand and stood up. The people stood up after them and applauded them.

Achilles turned to his left and said, "I am Achilles Onasis, king of the Jurrians, ruler of the three realms and the first of my name."

_ _ _

24 hours before...

Achilles and Myles sat before their father, the king in complete silence.

"Are you boys going to speak or do I?" King Cyrus asked. The two still didn't say anything. Their father exhaled before speaking. "Achilles, do you still wish to go through with the marriage and yield the throne to your brother?"

He looked up as his father said his name.

"Yes and no father," he replied. "Yes, I'll go through with the marriage, but no, I won't yield the throne. I've changed my mind."

"And why is that?" His father asked.

"I just realized that handing my birth right to my little brother is a terrible idea."

King Cyrus turned to look at Myles. "How do you feel about what your brother said?" He said.

"I feel like he's being unfair to me, and so are you." Myles responded. "How am I being unfair?" Achilles asked. "You said you were going to yield the throne to me, and now you're changing your mind."

"You never had rights to the throne as long as I was alive and seeing as I'm going to get married and will have a son, that further solidifies the fact that you can't inherit the throne." Achilles said. "What makes you think you'll have a son?" Myles asked. "Myles, I don't want to play that game with you."

"Oh, please spare me that bullshit. You don't scare me." Myles rolled his eyes. "I could quite literally have ur head on a pike, and if that doesn't scare you, I respect that."

Myles didn't say anything more.

"Yeah, that's what I thought."

"Let's see what Father has to say about that." Myles said. The two sons looked at their father after Myles glared angrily at Achilles. He was so pissed he didn't even want to be there

"Achilles is right. It had always been that way. The oldest son inherits the throne, and the younger marries and leaves to rule his wife's kingdom." King Cyrus replied. Myles didn't say anything after that either.

"Aren't you gonna say anything?" Achilles asked, looking at him from the side. "Father, you said that if he married the human girl, then he couldn't be king. What changed?" Myles asked.

"I'm getting old, my son, and I'll have to step down soon. I want to give my first son his birth right before that, " the King said.

"You mean your first legitimate son?" Myles retorted. He shocked everyone in the room with his statement.

"Don't do that little brother," Achilles warned. "You're being bitter."

"Bitter?!" Myles scoffed. "Ok."

Two went back and forth, arguing like little children.

"That's enough, you two!" They stopped immediately. "You're coronation in a day. You would get married to Lady Kristen on the same day. It'd be better to show her to the people on your coronation than any other day." The King said.

"Ok, father." Achilles nodded and stood up left. He grabbed his brother's arm on the way out and took him with him.

Myles yanked his arm out of Achilles' grip. "Stop treating me like a child," he said. "I don't like it."

"Fine. I'm sorry." Achilles replied. He hasn't apologized to his brother in a long time. "You can be my hand so that you and your wife could stay here." Achilles suggested. "Didn't Zale want to be your hand?"

"Yes, but he'll understand." Myles shook his head. "No, it's ok. It's all good."

"You sure, Myles?" He nodded. Achilles left to go tell Kristen the news, leaving Myles in the foyer. Myles couldn't hide his feelings after Achilles left. He was regretful. He didn't hate his brother, but he wanted to be King so bad, and it drove him to so senseless things. He felt ashamed. He'd been plotting with Loukâs and they came up with a plan in case he hadn't succeeded in getting legal rights to the throne, yet he didn't want to go through with it anymore. He snuck out of the Palace again that night to go see Loukâs. To tell him that he didn't want the crown anymore.

. . .

It was really late at night when Mykes arrived at Loukâs'.

"You haven't come in while. Is everything alright?" Loukâs asked. Myles nodded. "Everything is fine. I just came to tell you something important."

"Ok, go on." Myles looked him in the eyes. "I don't wanna go through with it anymore. Let Achilles be king."

Loukâs' expression changed. "Why?" He asked.

"I just have no reason to want it anymore." Myles shrugged. "So you don't hate Kristen anymore either?"

"Hate is a very strong word. I just don't like her. Plus, she's not going to be my wife, so it doesn't matter to me." Myles responded

Loukâs was disappointed, more annoyed than disappointed. Just when he thought his plans were coming together, this one came a day before the coronation to destroy all of it.

"You know that tomorrow is the coronation, right?" Loukâs asked. "Yes, I do. That's why I thought it was better to come tell you today." Myles said.

Loukâs stood up from his chair and stood right in front of Myles. "There's no going back, baby brother." He said, with a sinister look on his face. Myles was confused. "What do you mean?"

"I mean... that I've come way too far to just stop just cos u want out. It's not gonna happen."

"Loukâs are you not hearing me? I don't want to be King anymore, so the plan can't follow through. It's off." Myles spoke louder. "You really thought I was doing all this just so you'd be king? Huh?" Loukâs spoke. "I don't even give a shit about you. The only person I want to get my hands on is Achilles. Your sweet, loving, and hateful Achilles."

Myles stepped back a bit. "But you said -"

"It doesn't fucking matter what I said." He spoke over him. Myles was rueful. Loukâs had tricked him. He de facto gave him every single piece of information and now he was turning against him.

"You lied to me." Myles voiced out. "This is the capital, Myles. Everyone lies. You shouldn't trust anyone." Loukâs sneered. Myles looked disgusted.

"I'll go tell Achilles everything." He said and ran off.

"I'm the one and true king of Jurry Island! You won't get far!" Loukâs shouted as Myles ran.
